Block/hide app accounts

Can I hide or block accounts that are labeled as apps? I appreciate that they have the decency to label themselves, but I'd rather not have to sift through automated content on Reddit. Is there built-in way to filter that content, and if not, is there a way with UBO?

Constant HDD read activity according only to System Monitor widget

Hello! I'm baffled by what seems to be a contradiction in my System Monitor. This is a recurring 'problem' (if it's actually a problem) but it seems to happen randomly and restarting it resolves it.

I have the Hard Disk Activity widget on my desktop, and it's showing nonstop ~150MiB/s of read activity but I can't figure out why. If I open System Monitor itself, it shows no read activity, neither does running $ sudo iotop -o.

Screenshot here.

For some context, I have two HDDs in a RAID 1 (DH Raid) and one SSD (fedora), plus two other SSDs for other operating systems. I went ahead and added a second widget with every read activity for every drive in my computer, and it seems to be coming from one of my two hard drives that are in the RAID 1. Not the RAID itself as mounted, and not from both hard drives in the RAID, but just one of the two.

Any idea how I can track down this phantom read activity, or confirm if this is just some bug in the widget? Am on Fedora KDE 44 with KDE Plasma 6.7.3.

Control mouse outside of game while in game?

Can I use the (original) Steam Controller trackpads to control my desktop mouse while also in-game? I'm not sure how to phrase that better, but hopefully it makes sense.

Basically, I have a multi-monitor setup and generally play in borderless windowed mode. If I have a wiki or walkthrough up on my second monitor for achievement hunting or something, can I use the trackpads to control my mouse to navigate said walkthrough while continuing to use the Steam Controller in game? I'm trying it now with the original Steam Controller (this was never my original use case, so I'm a decade late to asking this lol), but as soon as a game launches I lose trackpad/mouse functionality. Is there a setting or toggle I can change to do both simultaneously? Am on Fedora KDE if it matters.

If not with the original Steam Controller, is the new Steam Controller any different?

Edit: Holding the Steam button while using the trackpad works, but that's very cumbersome. Is there any easier solution?

Add apps in new interface?

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but can't figure out how to install a new app on the new Roku interface. Previously there was a search option on the left side menu, but they've been replaced with options just for Home, TV inputs, and Settings. Where did the search option go, I've been looking all day lol.

Edit: I've also tried adding an app through the Roku Android app, but that doesn't seem to add it to the TV either.

Pika Backup: Integrity errors and unable to delete archives

Home PC (and source files) is on Fedora 44 running the Pika Backup 0.8.4 flatpack. Pika is backing up to a Samba share on my home NAS running running Xubuntu 26.04.

Hopefully this is the right place to ask. My automated backups themselves seem to be happening successfully every day, but I see I have a data integrity error. When I check the archive integrity, I (5 hours later) get these errors:

Error: Data integrity error: Invalid segment magic [segment 505, offset 0]
Error: Data integrity error: Invalid segment magic [segment 5820, offset 0]
Error: Index object count mismatch.
Error: committed index: 1403379 objects
Error: rebuilt index: 1400337 objects
Error: ID: 1126f44e7aa603b75aae8576bbd87ff245fcf8d9ac5b6e38c2a480e2c7ab5f04 rebuilt index: <not found> committed index: (505, 470735697)

[another 80 or so lines]

Error: ID: 2ab36ea48622e4acb7e203c9d9e0e067c0f24d679888c0cd5abe668f8a6444d6 rebuilt index: <not found> committed index: (5820, 248939308)
Error: Finished full repository check, errors found.

If I attempt to repair the data, I immediately get an error saying the user cancelled the process, which I did not to. I don't why or what to change, but something about that feels like a Flatpak permission issue?

If I attempt to clean up archives, I get:

Other("IntegrityError: Data integrity error: Invalid segment entry size 0 - too small [segment 5820, offset 955942]")

Any advice on next steps or what that even means?

Is Proton Calendar actually this bad?

Maybe I just need a sanity check? I know Proton Calendar being bad is a bit of a meme, but I'm finding it--primarily the Android widget--increasingly close to unusable.

Since about December, it's stopped manually updating the date. The date only seems to refresh when I restart my phone. Sometimes I can spam the cycle/arrows button a million times and it'll correctly refresh, but as often as not, the buttons just disappear instead.

When scrolling works, it only scrolls forward about a week, but most of the time the widget is just frozen with a message in the background. It's not displaying for me now, but I think it's something about syncing events. Which would be totally reasonable and acceptable if it didn't freeze the app for hours at a time.

Not a bug, but a feature request I guess: the widget is also missing a monthly/calendar view, which isn't a deal breaker, but seems like a weird oversight.

In terms of the calendar itself, when I try to add an .ics file to the calendar, it also frequently gets the times wrong and shifts the event by several hours. Maybe it's a time zone thing, but I can confirm the times and time zones on the original events is correct.

Are these the normal Proton Calendar issues people have, or is something actually wrong on my end?

FOSS texting app that reliably supports images?

I don't think this is just a 'me' problem, but every texting app I try to use seems to fail at sending images. Quik and Fossify both fail for me, and both seem to have multiple bug reports related to it on it's Github. I just tried (PVOT-OSS) Messages and have the same issue. Skimming FOSS-oriented subreddits also vaguely confirms this is not an uncommon issue? I'm loathe to admit it, but only Google Messages seems to consistently send images. I barely even use texting anymore; literally the only thing I use it for is to send cat pictures to my wife lol.

I do use GrapheneOS and Mint Mobile, so maybe that's the issue? I want to say it's unlikely that the others having the same issue also use budget carriers and custom ROMs, but actually the circles in the FOSS/Mint/GrapheneOS Venn diagram probably do overlap a lot.

Request for a weekly customer megathread and customer rule change

Maybe I'm in the minority, but 99% of what I come here for is reading about Starbucks drama. Sorry, not sorry, but Starbucks is a hotbed for drama and you all know it. Before /r/Starbucks it was the Starbucks LiveJournal community (iykyk) because this job is hard and stressful as fuck and baristas need a 'safe-ish' space to vent about shitty customers, stupid drinks, incompetent managers, and inane policies.

Personal opinion, obviously, but most customer posts just don't belong here. I get that outright banning them would probably be excessive, but an easy solution would be to make an automated weekly customer sticky post and exile all customer questions and complaints there. No Reddit barista can remake a drink for you over the internet. No Reddit barista can refund you. Reddit baristas may be able to help you communicate your order better, but even then, that should be advice customers get from working, on-the-clock baristas, not off-the-clock baristas looking to unwind. Maybe I'm wrong, but the way those posts tend to get (rightly) downvoted to oblivion and (less-rightly) dog-piled makes me think I'm not.

ETA: I saw a recent post have a mod comment citing an increase misuse of rule 6 reports (posts asking if an order is correct, or asking to troubleshoot a drink order, must show the cup sticker or state the exact order...) regarding a post that did have the exact drink written down, but I think that's a sign of the pulse of the subreddit. People are reporting posts they don't like under the most applicable rule (limits on drink help) even it doesn't technically break the rule because, regardless of the specific text of the rule, people don't like the entire genre of posts.
