Brick Red - Nars Born to be Wild

I love my brick reds, this isn't a new one either but I do enjoy this a lot. It's the Nars Powermatte High Intensity Lip Pencil in Born to be Wild. The lip pencil is opaque in pigment so colour doesn't show through. It goes on creamy, but sets matte. Lasts forever. Won't completely survive oily food though, everything else it will. The shade also looks a tad deeper in certain lighting, couldn't capture that though.

I'm a medium-tan warm olive, Dior 3WO (Forever Glow) and Nars Vanuatu (Light Reflecting) are my best foundation matches. Mac NC38 and C4 are close too. My closest celeb shade twin is Zendaya, if that helps. My bare lips are slightly pigmented, an ashy pink/mauve colour.

Nars Born to be Wild - Brick Red lip swatch

I love a good warm brick red, and this isn't exactly a new one but here's Nars Born to be Wild on my medium-tan, warm olive complexion. My best matches are Nars Vanuatu (Stromboli in the sheer Glow), Dior 3WO (Glow foundation). If it helps, my closest celeb shade twin would be Zendaya.

My lips are slightly pigmented naturally, but it doesn't show through in this formula thanks to its opaque pigment.

The shade looks slightly deeper in warm light but I couldn't capture that.

Bespoke orders from July

I run a small gemstone + 925 silver jewellery business that's rooted in slow and sustainable fashion. It's called Daevi (https://www.instagram.com/daevi.jewelry?igsh=bG94c3NwYzhmZmtj) - also linked on my profile

I offer bespoke jewellery with hand-picked gems, and last month these were 3 of my favourite pieces to work on. One customer chose this fantasy cut Whisky Quartz that I'd hand picked. The quirky owl ring was crafted with Black Sapphire (specially sourced & certified) and then finally the ever-classy Moonstone Tennis bracelet.

What do you guys think?

Meaningful gemstone+silver jewellery

Before you roll your eyes and think 'oh, yet another jewellery brand, give me a chance.

If you love jewellery that's meaningful, sustains artisans and their age-old craft, doesn't exploit poor miners and you aren't afraid of colour or spectacular looking gemstones then you should check out Daevi (@daevi.jewelry , linked on profile).

I offer bespoke jewellery and selected small-batch ready made designs in hallmarked Silver with anti-tarnish treatment. You choose your own gem, and our offered special cut gems are truly unique, almost impossible to find elsewhere.

Everyone is obsessed with fantasy and concave cut gemstones in jewellery globally right now, and you could own one too. Bonus that they're ethically sourced too (our suppliers maintain strict exploit-free documentation for each gemstone).

I do source specific gemstones on request as well. Ask me anything!

Here's some of the designs and gemstones shot in 4K HD.

Pretty rosy lippy I just discovered

I've really been liking the Ruby's Organics One stick Sculpt pencils (I've got Sand and Espresso) and ordered this one 2 weeks ago. This is the shade 'Rosewood' from their OneStick Blur range.

Usually, if I find anything called Rosewood I run to try it, and this is surprisingly pretty, so I ran here to share 😄. Haven't posted on YT yet, but if you've seen my lipstick swatch videos you know I usually keep to international brands, but this has been surprisingly good so far. Plus it's very lightweight and non-drying.

It's a pretty colour for casual wear, I think. Going to try an all-over look with this shade too.

I'm a warm olive and an NC 38/C4 in MAC and 3WO in Dior, if that helps. My lips are lightly pigmented and are ashy-pink/mauvey in colour.

Original Nars Dolce Vita lip pencil dupe!

So I ordered the suspected dupe and received it yesterday....here ya go

The Maybelline Serum Matte Lipstick in 003 Open Late is a deeper pink, however when you sheer it out it's pretty much indistinguishable from the original Nars Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (I still have one mini in my stash). See the second image for swatch comparisons. Both images are in direct daylight, the sky is overcast and gray today.

My natural lips are a pink, ashy mauve colour and are slightly pigmented.

There is a subtle difference between the 2 shades. I'd say the Dolce Vita was slightly brighter and Open late is deeper, perhaps has slight blue/purple in it. But since it was such a favourite and Nars ruined it by reformulating, this might be worth a shot.

The texture of the Maybelline serum lisptick seems comfortable and I think it might even perform decently as a blush. I'll be testing this too. I've got the original Dolce vita blush for comparison as well. Will post it.

Thoughts?

Lipsticks that really flatter warm olives

I recently revived my old YT channel and have been doing swatch videos to help fellow warm olives with a medium to tan complexion figure out what kind of shades work or don't work for them. I only shoot in natural light so people see the true colour of my skin, bare lips and the lipstick on top.

If this sounds useful, feel free to check out my latest videos. The channel is also linked on my profile page.

There's also videos of pinks, nudes and mlbbs.

Not trying to promote myself, lol I barely have subscribers. This is to help people who struggle finding flattering shades as olives, the way I did when I first got into makeup 🫶 I'll be posting swatches of products here as well as I make more content.

Mods if this is considered spam feel free to remove the post. Thanks!

Gemstone jewellery anyone?

I've seen quite a few chic coloured gemstone jewellery launches in the last year (including my own) ranging from demi-fine (palmonas) to fine jewellery (Zoya). It's always been niche, but clearly interest has been on the rise. I love my gems like no other and I'm wondering, where are you getting your (real) gemstone jewellery from?

Snowflake cut Swiss Blue

Another favourite of mine, this is a Swiss Blue Topaz, ~5.4 carats, 10mm. I know that these kinds of cuts may waste the gemstone at times but I really love the look and finish with this one.

Sunset tourmaline

I usually work with fantasy or concave cut gems, but on a recent sourcing trip I found this stunning sunset tourmaline. It's visibly included but the colours are so rich, I love it. My fingers blocked the light on the right side but the entire gem is a rich pinkish, orange colour like a heat treated Padparasha. Sharing just for the love of gemstones!

I offer silver jewellery with special & fantasy cut gemstones that you don't find in stores

Showcasing some of my creations...I hand pick and source the gems myself from Jaipur, from suppliers using ethical supply chains only, working with indian artisans and don't bulk manufacture because this industry has a lot of waste already. The jewellery is hallmarked and anti-tarnish treated, meant to last forever. I also offer gold vermeil as an option.

A person can browse the available gems and ask for personalised designs, that I will design for them myself.

I started this because of a love for gemstones all my life, and my father (a geologist) inspired me. And having studied sustainability it had to be a business that supports local workers and does not exploit anyone in the supply chain. As real silver and gemstones, the jewellery holds investment value as well.

I'm aware this kind of jewellery sells abroad more than it does in India, thanks to astrological restraints on gemstone purchases.

That said, if you were purchasing something for a special occasion, would you consider something as unique as this?

Another decent match

Hi everyone, since sharing Nars Vanuatu seemed to help some of you, today I'm sharing another one.

This is the Rodial skin tint in shade 03 St. Barths.

It feels a smidge light to me because the pigmentation around my mouth and forehead show through making it look a little grey in those areas. But peach colour correction underneath helps with that.

Also want to add that this tint tends to accentuate dry patches.

Forgive the crazy hair, I'm due for a haircut soon🙈

Products used:

Base: Rodial Skin Tint in shade 03 St. Barths

Colour correction for undereye: Nars Light Reflecting Eye Brightener in Magic Hour

Blush: Ilia Multistick in Whisper

Lips: Makeup revolution Gloss Stick in Sugar Plum Mauve and Charlotte Tilbury MI Kiss lip liner

Lancome Lash Idole Mascara

Highlighter: Hourglass Gilded Strobe Light

Kiko Milano Eye Shadow Stick 63 Bronze

Eyeliner: Estee Lauder Waterproof Eye Pencil - Espresso

Bottom lash liner : Zoeva Plum

Lower waterline : Make up forever Aqua Resist pencil 04 Sand

Upper waterline (tightlined): Zoeva Black

Spot concealed for a few blemishes: Lisa Eldridge Pinpoint Concealer Micro Correcting Pencil in shade 8

No brow products used, just brushed them.

Lavender Moon Quartz..now as earrings

So I posted this gemstone about 2 months ago, asking for recommendations on what metal to set it in. After discussing with my manufacturer and taking the recommendations here, we finally went with silver. Some of you asked to see the finished piece so here you go!

Great shade match

Wearing Nars Light Reflecting foundation in Vanuatu here.

I was doing a video for my YT and realised this isn't just a close match, but actually a great one. It's almost indistinguishable from my chest! My most perfect match has always been Dior 3WO so this was a nice revelation lol.

I'm warm olive, medium-tan, though I lean neutral somehow. Hope this can help someone looking for a shade match. Wearing VBB Lid lustre in Tea Rose and CT Viva la Vergara on the lips. A brown eye liner from the Artdeco natural line.

I've got this foundation in Barcelona as well, in case anyone wants to see a swatch comparison of the two.

Summery vibes

Did this fun diy mani last week..wanted bright summery vibes and it delivered.. ⛱️

Used OPI Glinda The Good (Hot pink), Bad Company Talkin' to me (teal), OPI Speed of bright (top glitter layer on the teal polish). The middle nail was supposed to look like a jigsaw puzzle coming together but oh well 😅
