To preorder or not to preorder?

I find myself wanting to preorder books but whenever there is an author talk or book signing, most of them are requiring you to purchase the book through them (or it comes with the ticket fee)

Do you preorder? Why or why not?

Which seats are better?

Section A (middle third row). Tickets aren’t actually together (seats have two seats in between so I would need to ask if one of those two people would swap).

Section 117 row 1

Taking a 10 year old who might need to stand on their chair if we take the floor seats.

Which do you think would be better?

Limited availability items

There is a jacket on clearance that has popped in and out of being available to purchase. I managed to get it to my cart and almost checked out before I got an error.

My local REI said there was only one in stores and I could call customer service for them to order it because the local store can’t accept phone payment.

Unfortunately, when I called they told me it was for walk in customers only.

Am I just out of luck? Is there no way I can convince some customer service person to place the order?

Trying to decide if Carbone is worth it for lunch?

I snagged a lunch reservation for Carbone and I’m trying to decide if it lives up to its hype. It would be taking a tween during a vacation. We would be dressed nice but casual (think dark jean, sweater (this weekend is cold) and Nikes.

Would our attire be alright?

Ultimately, is it worth the hype?

Recommendations on a hotel to stay at?

All the posts I’m finding are years old.

Don’t want to be downtown and have 30 min shuttle commutes.

Not traveling with any coworkers and will only have some time my arrival day to explore. I also won’t have a car.

Considering but open to others:

Fairfield by Marriott Madison Verona

Hyatt place Madison Verona

Homewood Suites Hilton Madison West
