U10, really good a D, always at D

My child is really good at D and due to roster mgmt issues has been slotted at D for last 4 games. I feel at this level it hinders development, especially cause my child wants to get some minutes to develop at midfield. I’m not saying my kid needs more time, but some of that slotted in a MF role.

I feel the roster as a whole this kids are getting slotted into role too early . I get it’s a hard balance between winning and development; suggestions on how to address.

We are working outside of practice on ball mastery and technical skills…

Teaching striking mechanics to u10G

Daughter’s first year of comp soccer and she’s loving it. Coach has her at winger attacking mid which has been natural position for two seasons now because she’s fast she can beat defenders and gets back to help on D. Understands when to press vs when to cover. not afraid to take defenders on 1v1 and has a good understanding of when to take it versus when to pass. She’s already starting to see the lanes and nothing brings her more joy than getting assists. She’s a good kid.

What are the drills she should be doing? YouTube - I’m wondering if there’s things we should watch together and then go play in the backyard.

Thoughts?

Do they board earlier than the listed time on app?

Left lounge at the time it said my flight was boarding. Got I gate in 3minutes, there were already in group 6!

I missed the preflight drink and had to wait in a giant line to get on.

Where did I (or AA) mess up?

My 9yo made a team

Just wanna say I’m so proud of her. I was her coach for all of U6 and half of U8, and the team fell apart, because half went to comp the other half went to cheer and softball. So she sat out a year and then last year was a free agent pick up for another rec team in the area. She had a great coach who really saw something and she responded started off in defense, and by the end of the season was midfield assistant captain.

She came to me says hey Dad, is there any spring soccer? So we found a training academy and she developed there and had a lot of fun. I really like the philosophy of that club, but she ended up trying out for a club closer to our house just to help with logistics and she has friends on that team from school

She walked in the tryouts as a new face and totally kicked ass. We’ve even gotten an email from the top club manager, saying that she did great on her first day and if she was coming back out the next day. And she did and did well.

And today we got the email. She was over the moon.

Fun fact, I asked her what her favorite position was when she said midfield. Why I asked, “ because at fwd I have to wait for someone to pass me the ball but at midfield I can just take it and go or decide to pass it off to my teammate.”

She really likes getting assists. It was like her favorite thing last season and she had like 7.

Anyways , shared a proud dad moment.

WC backyard fan fest set up - recommendations?

Hi everyone,

Getting really excited for the World Cup, but not excited or willing to pay the prices to go watch the game in person.

Been due to set up an outdoor movie studio, so looking for recommendations for an outdoor World Cup soccer fan fest in Northern California. All night every night for games.

Basicly something powerful enough to deal with dusk and into the night. Can you point me in the right direction? My willingness to pay range is a bit broad with a ceiling of about 1500.

Thoughts? What should I be thinking of as I assess different projectors? What’s the best approach head down to Best Buy?

Thanks!

Never really fancied me great with pastries, but after work yesterday, I got a hankering for Italian Costata and decide to try my hand with my daughters

The first one is Nutella yeah it looks a little bit rough, but I learned a lot through the process, including parchment paper is my friend as is keeping the dough refrigerated / cool. Also learn not to overfill as in the oven. It can become a bubbly mess.

The second one is jammed with Bonne mamen mixed berry. I took what I learned from the first one and kept the dough chilled while I was rolling it out and building the lattice, rolled out with the dough in between parchment paper and just felt like I overall had more control over the construction and the bake.

Sharing here for your enjoyment and any tips just really proud of my first attempt at Italian Crostata and my development over the evening.

Cheers
