Listen to an old man..

So I run a silly YouTube channel centered around DieCast cars so obviously the subscribers are 97% male..

Yesterday a kid came into chat and after realising he was in a safe place (we keep it very welcoming) he said he really likes a girl but was too shy to ask her out..

Now I remember being 16 and having that same crippling fear of rejection.. I immediately went live on the microphone (it had been text only until now) and gave the poor kid a lecture about how many opportunities I'd missed at his age and that the girl is just as nervous as he is, but thing that got to him was pointing out he was dangerously close to the friend zone, danger danger!

Then an anecdote from a school reunion when I told a girl I'd had a crush on her at school and she said she'd had one on me so I should have acted upon it.. (nooo!)

Anyway, today the kid popped up in the forum attached to the channel and said he'd asked her out, she said yes! And he's happier than a happy thing on happy day..

So if you need relationship advise the address is... ;)

"Brie" The GT is the new endurance champion..

Nobody gave this display model a chance, but at 2 weeks, 1 day and 22 hours - 44,217 scale miles.. 690 real actual miles.. Brie the Ford GT is the new endurance champion.

Got a Civic Type R today, so impressed with the crispness of the livery.

The rear windows heater elements (if that's what they are!) look amazing too.

I know they aren't meant to be run.. but people asked, so..

People wanted a Mini GT to be run on the Diecast Endurance rolling road. I crumbled to the pressure and will be running this Ford GT at 6pm UK time (1pm EST, 10am PST) today (Saturday 8/1), I have made the road smoother for the rubber tyres. It will be running at a scale 110mph, which is about 1.7 real mph. The previous record for a rubber wheeled car is a Hot Wheels Premium Toyota Soarer which managed 7927 scale miles in 3 Days 4 Hours, the Toyota was tethered laterally, the GT will be untethered, but the MiniGT has it's wheels fixed to the axles, will this affect things? you can find links to the live stream and a FAQ here: https://www.doremi.co.uk/DE

The Majorette F150 is heading into its 5th consecutive day on the road.. er.. belt.. it's holding up pretty well, but the left front wheel is definitely raising some eyebrows.. take a peek at https://www.doremi.co.uk/DE

It's been going for 10 days now...

Nobody told this Mainline Mazda that it should fall to bits after 4 days.. so here we are, a couple of hours shy of 10 days continuous running.. Quite amazing! view the stream here

The Mazda made a full week!

The challenge was to survive a week.. mission accomplished, now it's just pure endurance.. you can watch the stream here

Nobody is more surprised than me.. it's the new channel champ!

The Teflon Tea Tray has marched past the GT40's time and distance records.. Also as a channel we're all gradually getting a set of parameters together so future runs can be compared fairly. This being the first untethered car it's all new. but who knew a mainline with tiny wheels could go so far! for the curious the stream is here

The Mazda has gone past 3 days, 9000 miles and the Soarer..

The little Mainline Mazda is punching above its weight.. it's despatched the time set by the Premium Soarer, and now heads out to catch the GT40, the live stream is here

The Mazda 787B has done 2 full days now and abut 5 minutes after I post this will hit 5000 Miles! (77 actual miles)

It's been running smooth for 2 days now, but the axels are starting to widen the holes in the wheels, also there's a touch more vibration since day one. But the main thing is this car isn't tethered in any way like the first 2 were so it isn't throwing up as much dirt. That being said the dirt is slowly appearing on the bonnet.. you can watch live via a link here

This week on the Rolling Road.. The Mazda 787B

The first 2 cars were tethered from their sides to keep them straight, with this car I'm using clear plastic bumpers so it's free to skate about and yaw when it wants, so far, 14 hours in there seems to be much less tyre wear, I have a feeling this could go longer than the GT40..

We're going again tonight.. I'll post in this thread when it's live.

Following the Mainline GT40's 5 day wheel erosion spectacular many people asked for a Premium car with Rubber Tyres, so here we go..

I've improved the Instrument Cluster to show real miles as well as scale miles, and have added a camera to the other side so people can see how the car is held straight.

I still have to sort out the sound and actually mount the car so don't expect action for at least an hour or maybe 2 from this post. But we're going again!

Tragedy! Before we could get to 15000 miles, the GT40 died..

The GT40 Mark IV died at 5 Days, 1 Hour, 10 Minutes and 42 Seconds into it's run..

It has covered 13549 scale miles.. which is over 200 real miles at a scale average speed of 111 mph..

A Toyota Soarer will be attempting to beat this record starting as soon as I can clean up the test site.. probably tomorrow.

Watch the end here: https://www.doremi.co.uk/DE/

The GT40 went past 10,000 miles this morning..

The front wheels have been looking dodgy since Monday, but still it rolls on! I think if a wheel stops spinning because it's riding on the under tray I'll end it, or obviously if anything breaks, but it's starting to feel like this will be running in my shed forever..

Follow the GT40 live video here..
