Tuscan Grey/Stone Grey - kinda green?

Hi everyone! I've been trying to find examples of the the Tuscan Grey and Stone Grey colors. I've seen the one patina photo posted by Paper Republic, but that's about it. Curious if anyone has any additional photos of these two colors, because in the atelier and the photo from PR they look a little on the green side?

First time camera buyer, unsure what to buy?

(1) Budget, country, currency:
Ideally $1,000, USA, USD

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?
None! Just my old iPhone 13 lol. This would be my first camera purchase.

(3) What kind of subjects do you intend to shoot?
I am an artist, so I plan on capturing my artwork (2D and 3D work) for marketing materials (including social media) and my portfolio/website. I intend on using this camera for my online shop's listing photos. I would also love to start dabbling in portrait and nature photography, but less so than product photography.

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography or both?
Photography, but wouldn't mind if it's for both!

I have some photography experience from years ago (I don't remember the exact model I used but it was a Canon), but it's been a loooong time. I've been marketing my work using my iPhone for the past 6 years, have always loved taking photos with my phone, and am wanting to upgrade my photography and social media content as an early birthday gift.

I've been looking at the Canon R50 and the Canon R10 based on my initial research. I've heard that the R10 is "better" (for growth)/more control over settings, but it is more expensive and I'm curious if the R50 is good enough for my purposes. I've seen some who were disappointed with the R50 (especially the 18-45mm lens), but I've also seen a lot of folks recommend it.

I've also heard good things about the Fujifilm X-T30 III.

Would love to hear y'all's thoughts!

Far from perfect, but I made my first wallet for my dad for Father’s Day!

I used the Bifold wallet pattern from Make Supply! Buttero leather

Discover people on profile page keeps showing up

I recently made a new Instagram Creator account for some of my creative hobbies. I also have a different Creator account that I’ve had for years.

In the past, whenever I created an account, it would stop automatically popping open after I followed around 20 people.

After setting up the account (completely filling out the profile, making a few posts, etc) and following 20 people, I thought that the "Discover people" section that pops up every time I open my profile page would go away, because I knew its meant to help new users get started and such. It has not gone away, and I've had this account for around three weeks.

This section does not appear on my older accounts (where I follow 600+ people) does not have this happen either.

Is there like a certain number of people I need to follow in order for the Discover people section to stop automatically opening up whenever I go to my profile?

New pen day, came a day early too!

Esterbrook Estie in Sea Glass with an extra fine nib to match my sea glass niblet! I’m more of a silver gal so I went with the palladium, and it looks like palladium runs a bit darker and more blue than the gold 🤷🏻‍♀️ still pretty though!

Tuscan Grey and Natural patinas?

Hey y’all! I’ve been looking at the atelier and am trying to decide between Tuscan grey or a natural. Does anyone have photos of the Tuscan grey (new or patina) and natural patina? Thanks in advance!!

Substack for poetry?

I've been poking around Substack for about a month, and I've noticed it's mostly prose articles & notes. Is there a large platform for poetry on Substack, or would I be better off sticking to someplace else to share my work? I just published my first poem as an article, so I don't know if that type of content really fits Substack. Thanks for any feedback!

It is June and it is still spring

It is June and it is still spring.
I am twenty-seven years old and
it has been ten years since I graduated high school.

I remember that warm May evening,
when everything was draped in green
and full of fresh faces and bright eyes.

The infinite future was ahead of us.
We did not know that our hearts would be broken or that our grandparents would die or that we would witness tragedy upon tragedy unfold from our very pockets.

It is June now, and I have monthly bills
and more flesh on my bones and
baggier eyes.

But it is June, and it is still spring.
The world is draped in green and I have a mortgage now.
I saw two fireflies in our front yard, the first of the season.
The hydrangeas have bloomed so large they can barely hold their heads up.

I Should've Been Cremated

When the lawyer had asked
as we were writing my will,
I’d said I’d like to be buried
on beautiful Langley hill.
(I should’ve been cremated)

Half-heartedly I’d joked,
“It’s a nice view of the town!”
But as I lie here eternally,
all I can see is dirt brown.
(I should’ve been cremated)

How was I to know?
That when my body has failed,
I could still hear my wife’s cries;
at the funeral, she wailed.
(I should’ve been cremated)

Now I am all alone,
with just my mind to entertain me.
I can’t say I’m good company,
despite my two master’s degrees.
(I should’ve been cremated)

I long to face my neighbor,
just three feet to my left,
but these dark walls imprison;
confinement leaves me bereft.
(I should’ve been cremated)

The stench of my flesh
rotting each passing day
slowly fills the damp grave
in which I am forced to stay.
(I should’ve been cremated)

The worms are my visitors,
maggots unwelcome squatters.
But they’ll someday finish the job,
come hell or high water.
(I should’ve been cremated)

Despite the discomfort,
I shouldn’t deplore.
Perhaps there will be peace
when my body is no more.
(I should’ve been cremated)

With no eyes to roll
nor a mouth to pout,
my thoughts are deafening;
they practically shout.
(I should’ve been cremated)

There’s hardly any hope,
with an eternity to go.
I pray for a shovel and sunlight,
or at least something to do!
(I should’ve been cremated)

(I should’ve been cremated)
(I should’ve been cremated)
(I should’ve been cremated)

I dream of lace and ribbons

I can barely see it through the light and voile.
Eyes squinted, my fingers outstretched,
aching to touch it,
if just to brush against it.

I can hear it: the carousel melody twirling,
turning softly
around and
around.

Each note is accompanied by a memory, a wish:
E - the taste of honeysuckle.
D - green irises, and they're smiling.
E - the smoke from a candle, ephemeral and dancing in its loss.
F# - red, a scraped knee.
A - paper that holds whatever is asked of it, and gives it a home.

I can almost see it. I can almost tell what it is.
I swear I almost have it.

Just finished stitching this journal cover this morning!

My second time attempting to stitch pockets :) The problem with being able to DIY journal covers is that you wind up with a million of them!

Please help!! What am I doing wrong?

I am using brown Solarfast sunlight-developed dye for paper & natural fabrics in the color Brown on watercolor paper. The photo negative (last photo) was printed on transparent film with my inkjet printer.

I apply a layer of the dye onto the paper with a paintbrush, and while it’s still damp (per the instructions) I tape the photo negative on top and I place it outside.

In the first photo, the top attempt is 40 minutes exposure because I had run an errand and didn’t get to bring it back inside, so I understand it got too much exposure.

The bottom attempt was the recommended 10 minutes exposure (also shown in pic 2). The sun has been bright today.

Once the 10 minutes are up, I bring it inside and rinse it in a bath the hottest water my sink will provide (which is pretty hot). I’ve been following the directions on the bottle exactly, but the photo doesn’t turn out well at all. You can hardly see the photo - there’s no contrast, the dye is streaky no matter how many times I try to smooth it out with the brush. What am I missing? I’ve seen folks be able to have good prints without the Solarfast wash, so I haven’t bought any - but do I need to? All of the reviews are with fabric and not paper so any help is greatly appreciated!!
