RPGs that won't burn me out?

I love some RPGs, but I tend to give up on the popular ones 😭.

Probably cause of my ADHD, I feel like most RPGs are just trying to waste my time with all the running around and incosistent quality of side quests and dialogue 😂. The highs might be really high, but because of the lows, I tend to drop them (even if I'm 100+ hours in).

I love good side quests, but I'm really easily put off by generic quests that feel unimportant.

To give you examples of games I liked/disliked:

I liked the witcher + the witcher 2, but I don't enjoy the witcher 3 at all.

I think KCD (both 1 and 2) are great games, I especially like the early combat in those - but I hated the incosistent quality of side quests and all the running around.

RPGs I enjoyed & completed: BG3, Divinity 2, witcher+witcher 2, Disco Elysium -- also souls-likes and fps rpgs, but I won't list those here.

Because of these reasons, I prefer linear storytelling, instead of open-world type stuff. Only because they tend to have less bloat

I don't care about graphics or how detailed the world is. I just want an RPG that's engaging to play throughout, with a gripping story🤔. The lows are probably more important to me than the highs. I hope that makes sense.

In rest, caini fara lesa + caini reactivi + caini dresati prost = reteta perfecta pt experiente negative. !<

Dar in sector 2 are vreunul o poveste de genul? Împărtășiți, pentru motivație :))

E patetic ce se intampla aici.

Good anime with GREAT dub?

I prefer subbed anime, but I need some dubbed recommendations so I can watch while cooking/working out/etc.

My problem has never been the English VAs. Production is the issue. I can deal even with mediocre VAs if the dub is produced well. These were my main gripes the last time I tried:

  1. I hate how you can hear the different set-ups of voice actors (either different microphone, or a room with different accoustics). I'm guessing it's because a lot of VA in the west is done at home. I'm sensitive to this type of stuff, so it feels like a skype call instead of watching a show.
  2. I also hated how the audio is mixed in dubs. A character is whispering, but the audio is mastered in such a way that the whispers are as loud as regular talking. Takes away all the immersion for me.
  3. A lot of anime lines are truly cringe. They sound way more cringe in English because I know nobody talks that way. There are 2 ways of adapting that would make dubs good for me:
    • Go full cringe. Translate everything literally, adapt as little as possible- even if it sounds unnatural in English. At least it's authentic to the source material; and I appreciate that.
    • Adapt everything so it sounds natural in English

Any suggestions that don't have these isses? At least the 1&2 issue 🙏

[KCD2] Things you wish you knew on your first playthrough

My friend is starting his first playthrough. The tips&tricks vids I've seen are terrible. They are cheesy or spoil a lot of the fun (cause you can learn 99% of them while playing the game).

That being said, there are some things that would have made my first playthrough more enjoyable:

  • You can dodge. press direction+spacebar when the green shield appears
  • Do the side quests before the wedding
  • The village side quests in Kuttenberg are worse than Trosky's (with a few outliers). If you feel burned out, head straight to the city.
  • You can brew a potion to respec - so don't be afraid to experiment with weapons/armour
  • Read the lore books too. A lot of them reveal map locations
  • Go to Tomcat when you want to learn to fight. It's also a good idea to get Mutt early, and your horse from Semine

Other than that, I think it's best to play it blind. Get off reddit and off youtube.

Do you guys have anything to add?

What's a unique show that you loved, but couldn't rate highly?

And why?

I'm looking for unique anime that goes under the radar cause of its' flaws, but has things going for it that are amazing and clearly memorable. For example:

For me, it would be the anime "pet". It's a psychological drama, with a unique concept. It has a psychedelic nature to it, which also makes it special. It low-key felt like a metaphor on people on the spectrum. It's probably my most memorable low-rated anime.

I couldn't rate it highly cause the execution of the story is messy; and the animation is holding it back. Still a very enjoyable watch - but you can't deny its' flaws.

Ways to sort by rating? other than MAL and AniList?

The ratings are in the same ballpark, but:

Most shows I think are terrible are rated higher on MAL, in comparison to AniList.

Most shows I think are great are rated higher on AniList, in comparsion to MAL.

What else do you use to filter through anime? Maybe there's something else out there that has a community I'll agree more with

Dogtra handsfree square question

I was thinking of buying a couple, but I'm confused. Can you replace the battery in this thing? Nowhere in the user manual or in online comments have I seen that mentioned.

I saw it has no battery cap, just screws that hold the whole thing together.

Is this supposed to be a disposable thing? lol

Recommend me isekai slop with great pacing & no fan service

I'm looking for unpopular slop. Stuff that's simply enjoyable to watch - even if completely unoriginal.

Requirements: Great pacing, no pervert MC, no cringe fan service. IDC about romance either (but if it's not a harem, I can deal with it)

It's stupidly hard to find new anime with little to none fan service. I feel like 80% of slop is 80% horniness. I hate it. Help me 😭

My favourite isekais:

  • Ascendance of a Bookworm
  • As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World
  • HELL MODE: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing
  • Ossan Newbie adventurer (not isekai but feels like it)
  • I Parry Everything (not isekai but feels like it)

"Space Battleship Yamato 2199". Is this show just not for me?

I'll just be honest cause I want an answer, even though I know I'll get downvoted like crazy.

I'm only on episode 5 of the 2012 anime; and I think it's a really hard watch. I just need to know if my gripes with it get better, or if I should just drop it now:

The tone is super serious but nothing about the anime makes me take it seriously so far, so I just find it cringe😭. The fights are ass. The drama is underdeveloped. The characters feel like they're written by a child (I like the commander but nobody else). And overall, the anime feels like I'm watching a bad old version of Star Trek or something.

Is this a show just for people that love old-school space operas? Cause that's my impression of it so far.

"Kingdom" is the most underwatched seinen/shounen. Easily.

I've watched over 200 action anime, and Vinland Saga S2 is the only one I rated higher than Kingdom S6.

It is not underrated. Everyone that watched it rates it very highly. It is hard to find someone that has actually watched all of it and not think it's one of the best.

BUT - it's stupidly underwatched. S1 and S2 have terrible animation (the worst I've ever watched). The story is good, but not quite as great as the later seasons. This is why it's underwatched, even though the later seasons are PEAK.

S6 is not even in the top #4000 most watched anime, but it deserves to be in the top #5 best Shonen/Seinen seasons of all time. Just check the comments on this post. I'm sure everyone that's seen it will agree 😄. It's way less polarizing than other anime - cause it truly is that good.

If you haven't watched it, you are hugely missing out. Either skip S1&2 and read the manga until S3; or just accept the animation is shit and watch it anyway.

Edit: Even though this anime feels action-packed, it's actually 80% strategizing and great storytelling. IF you can get over the animation, even the early seasons will grip you at some point. The first half of the 1st season is the worst (both in story and animation). After that, it's all quite good, story-wise

Also, I've only heard bad things about this anime's dub. If you find it bad, try the sub. The japanese VA is flawless

Anime that motivates you to learn an instrument?

You know how sports&boxing anime is super motivating sometimes? Can you think of an anime that is as motivating, but for learning an instrument?

I hope to avoid anime where the main plot is slice of life & cringe drama - more focus on the actual learning and performances and such.

"Hell Mode" is the best isekai slop out there

"HELL MODE: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing" Is the full name of the anime

Very underrated for an isekai. Absolutely nothing original - but it does what it does SO much better than the other generic isekais. 10/10 pacing, no cringe fan service, very few cringe interactions & dialogue, good cliffhangers and great powerscaling.

If you're one of those people that watched most of the great anime out there, and are sometimes into the isekai slop, this is the best I've seen.

It's rated poorly for being generic. That's fair, but IMO, It deserves to be rated way higher than a lot of the popular isekai slops out there. Check it out

When to move on to the next step? (Bluesharmonica.com)

So, I just started the "Levels of Achievements" course on bluesharmonica.com. However, I'm already confused 🤔

For example, one of the first things being taught is tongue blocking. Am I supposed to not move on until I am comfortable with tongue blocking each hole - or can I just move on to the next steps after a little bit of practice?

What do you think is best? I feel like I'll be stuck here a while lol, but if that's what it takes - it is what it is

Why does bluesharmonica recommend tongue blocking so much?

Even though they use puckering too, in the beginner lessons, only tongue blocking is mentioned. And in the site introduction video, it's explained that learning tongue blocking first saves "a lot of headaches later on".

Anyways, I'm a complete noob to this. Puckering seems a lot easier to me. I'm thinking of getting comfortable with that first. But... if learning tongue blocking instead is actually a better idea, I'll go with that

Can anyone explain to me a bit what David means?
