Looked under my C30 for the first time today when it was at the shop for an oil change. Saving up to replace the springs and shocks and tires still.

Noticed the passenger side boot is torn and weeping oil - not a ton, it doesn’t look like. I’ve read that on P1 Volvos the axle is more or less a wear part. With this tear, the oil, and 79k miles, is this a sign I should replace the axle?

I don’t think I have any other symptoms - the ride does get rough at 55-70mph (vibration I can feel in my legs and seat) that smooths out below 50 and above 75. But I think that’s due to horribly balanced tires.

UPDATE: It’s broken springs! Definitely at least on the driver’s side, the passenger is also very crusty and might be broken too.

I’m curious as I feel the rear is a little higher up than the front; does my ride height look normal for a R-Design, specifically the gap between the tires and the fenders?

I don’t think it was lowered at all by its previous owner but I’m not sure. Also trying to determine if maybe the shocks are wearing out up front - it’s only 79k miles but they are likely the original ones and I don’t know if time wears them out at all.

Finally posting my new-to-me 2013 6-speed C30! She’s going to be my daily driver while my 960 wagon becomes my collector weekend driver.

Got her all cleaned up. Was lovingly cared for by the original owner with some fun upgrades.

Can’t get over how classy she looks all cleaned up and how well and fun she is to drive!

I got moved from the waitlist to the reservation queue. I guess it means they’re decent making progress through the reservation queue! USA, I was added to the waitlist right away on preorder day.

Hey all! I’m switching my reference Sapphire 6900 XT back from a water cooling block to the stock reference three-fan cooler - I enjoyed water cooling but just don’t feel like keeping the maintenance going anymore.

I’ve kept the original cooler in the box, but it’s been sitting for about three years now. The pads are all still intact but they seem a little crumbly.

Should I replace the pads before I reassemble it? I can’t find any specifications online for what thicknesses to use so I’m leery of replacing them if I shouldn’t need to. Also, any recommendations for thermal paste? Would PTM7950 be a good choice?

First - let me admit this is a first-world problem.

But I can’t be the only one who has this issue - when I come back to either my Steam Deck or my computer running SteamOS, if I’m in the big picture UI, I can have upwards of forty games to update. I have fast internet, and I know that most of them are scheduled and will update automatically, but since I don’t know when I’ll come back to my device I like to update them all at once.

But every single time I move an item from “Scheduled” to next in queue, it scrolls me back up to the top! So I have to scroll allllll the way down again, and then select the next, but lo and behold it shoots you back up to the top again! So I do this 30 or more times and it just… gets a bit tiring.

So I guess my request/suggestion is: Would it be possible to have an “update all now” button or to simply not have the screen jump back to the top when moving games around in the update queue?

Anyway! Again - small inconvenience for what is probably a niche issue but it would be a huge QOL change for controller users I feel like.

Curious if anyone else has run into this and if they have a solution. It’s a minor thing but my center vents don’t sit flush along the bottom. I can press it back in flush but it just falls back like this.

I popped them out earlier - the bottom clips are barely engaged on the dash. The upper clips are really the only thing holding it in place. But there’s no broken clips and the dash itself looks completely intact, nothing broken or missing.

Is this a common issue? Any suggestions to fix it?

Has anyone else had spots on their controllers like this?

It’s almost like a tiny spot got eaten out of the controller surface. Noticed two on my brother’s and one on mine. Popped up today - nothing there this morning and after playing a while today we noticed them. Not around any heat sources, and was only around an energy drink and a tea - so it’s not like anything majorly caustic could have caused it.

Anyone else seen a random spot like this on their controller? It’s only cosmetic but it’s just weird. I don’t think the Steam controller has a coating, right? Isn’t this all just molded out of plastic?

EDIT to add - not concerned enough to RMA or anything - just never seen this happen on any controller before and it’s weird it happened to two different controllers!

So I have a US 2013 C30 R-Design, and I want the EU style mirror for the drivers side with the convex edge and dotted line.

If I understand correctly, according to Scandix, for my year and model, I ordered the correct one. VIDA says that this is the correct mirror for chassis number 170000- , it’s this part number. My chassis number is 311xxx, I think - isn’t it the last six of my VIN number?

However when I got the mirror, it’s about 15 mm too tall and doesn’t fit. When I went and looked at the -169999 mirror, that looks like the right size, for 2011 and earlier?

So I’m wondering A) do I misunderstand my chassis number, B) does my R-design have the wrong mirrors? And C) does someone in the US want this mirror as I can’t use it.

I’m assuming I need to order the other mirror variant but again, VIDA and Skandix seem to assume it’s the wrong size. And AFAIK all C30’s shared the same mirror housing and shape!

Curious if this is normal - recently bought a 2013 C30 - 2.4 T5 with an m66 transmission, 76k miles. Noticed when shifting from first to second (and also from second to first, but not as much) when I’m at slow speeds and when taking off that in the sort of void space between gears (neutral) that I can hear and feel a sort of “shhhhnook” plasticy-dull metal sound from the transmission. Is this normal? It’s hard to hear in the video since my phone is only really capturing the clunk of the shifter itself, but you can softly hear it coming from the transmission. Doesn’t do it from second to third or higher.

It does it only when rolling and shifting - clutch pedal all the way to the floor.

You can probably have the best chance of hearing it starting around 1:20 in the video - I said “move the pedal up and down” right there but I mean shifter haha

Is this normal? This is only my second manual car - my first is a manual swapped Volvo 960 that doesn’t quite feel like this, so I don’t have much experience with these things. I’m guessing I’m feeling the synchros do their things?

On a related note - the previous owner put in the short throw shifter and I’m wondering - I’ve heard some people say it’s awful without it and some say it can wear the shift cables down faster. Should I leave it or pull it? Could it be related to my issue?

And last question - I’m having a hard time nailing the shift from first to second smoothly consistently without jerking the whole car. How high do y’all usually rev in first gear before shifting to second? In my 960 I had to rev to ~3k RPM in first so she would grumble when I got into second, and with the C30 I’ve been shifting around 2.5krpm but I don’t know if that’s why I’m still getting jerking half the time or not. It’s not a horrible jerking - not like I’ll stall the car - but I can’t imagine the DMF is very happy with me! It only happens about a third of the time but I’m just having a hard time getting a smooth takeoff consistently.

I recently got a C30, the previous owner installed a color matched Ice White (614) Elevate front lip spoiler, for a face lift R-Design.

I’m open to offers, willing to ship though I can’t imagine it’ll be cheap. It’s in great shape - just not my personal cup of tea. Has all the screws. Located near Austin Texas - need it gone in the next three weeks before I move.
