The one level of light makes a world of difference

Coming from my RM2, which i loved, the front light makes such a difference. At level one it makes the RMPP usable for me in lower natural light environments in my house while also making it look whiter and still natural looking.

A salute to my old RM2

Now that the RM2 is discontinued I want to give it a shout out for 5 years of superb use.

When I bought it RM still had the referral program and I constantly checked the referral request thread here like a crazy person. In the end it completely covered my purchase! Those were the days.

A little over two years later my marker plus dropped from a small height and the nib collar broke, as it was known to be prone to do. RM replaced my marker for free very quickly.

5 years ago I was the only one at my company with an e-ink tablet, now pretty much every upper and middle manager uses one of some brand or another.

For the first quarter of this year i spent a lot of time researching a replacement. I still loved my RM2 but i craved a bigger screen and front light. I had narrowed it down to the RMPP, Scribe Colorsoft, and Boox Tab X. I ended up going with the RMPP for various reasons. The color seemed better and I can’t live without layers in my notebooks and pdfs. I have had my RMPP for a couple weeks now and am enjoying it. I enjoy comic book reading on it more than i expected to. However I still like the writing feel of my RM2 more than the RMPP, but it would have been worse with other options according to reviews.

I will save my RM2 for my 10yo son when I feel he is ready for it. Seeing how he treats his kindle for reading I don’t think he’s there yet.

So my hats off to the RM2. Was it perfect? No. But it did exactly what i needed it to do.
