Hi everyone,
I am a solo F26 in Hanoi for a few days, and I wanted to know if there was anything I should be warned about. I am mainly here to eat and shop and explore the city, I don’t plan on partying or going out to meet people. It is just a bit scary to be a solo girl anywhere so maybe there are some things to be known!
Also, any tips about cash/card thing? I have not been able to withdraw cash at the airport and don’t know if I should.
Thanks!
Hi everyone
I am passing through Hanoi for a few days after a long stay in Japan; I love to thrift and to shop in the cheapest kitchest places lmao. My favourite activity in Japan was to spend hours at big second hand stores, looking through the toys and the clothes and the houseware.
Is there such places in Hanoi? I have heard about Vietnam outlet or some really expensive vintage stores, but that is it. I also love trinkets and souvenirs!
Do you have any other reco for spending days there? Thanks!

Is there such places in Shanghai? I can’t seem to find a lot of locations coming up for something other than brand new and quite expensive shopping.

I am currently in Fukuoka spending my very last night before leaving to go back home. What should I eat tonight as The Last Meal? I know it’s already late, I haven’t tried Hakata ramen yet, I already went to Ichiran in Tokyo though, and also went through some yatai.
I am thinking about Shinshin ou Issou (edit: typo), don’t know which one is the best!
Edit: ended up at Hakata Issou Nakasu, and I don’t regret it one bit. My stomach and my liver hurt, I feel heavy, my mouth smells like a delicatessen; it was perfect.
The bran bread from Natural Lawson has such an amazing texture. You might think is it your usual bun, but they mix rice flour in the dough so it is chewier than what you would expect!
In Fukuoka for 5 days, decided to get gourmet and tried the assorted mentaiko plate at Ganso Hakata Mentaiju Nishinakasu You have one mentaiko served raw and the other cooked rare, both are wrapped in Kombu.
Should have taken the Mentaiju (it is their signature dish), which is a serving of mentaiko on top of rice and seaweed; the mentaiko on its own, especially the raw one, is intense in flavour, very salty, and it was hard to finish like that! But I really wanted to taste the two versions.
I have been visiting multiple little cities around Tokyo, and have found that a lot of them have these independent stores, that do not fall under a brand like HobbyOff or Mandarake and such, but do sell second-hand toys. These places are where I found the most random and interesting stuff, but I was wondering if shops like that existed closer to central Tokyo.
In Kawagoe for example, I stumbled across a store with 20 gashapon machines, and a lot of retro baseball related items in addition to really random second-hand toys. Another one in Kawagoe sold Godzilla vintage toys and unopened gashapon capsules.
These are clearly little one-person business, I think Sanrio Shop Poppo in Kiyose is the closest to central Tokyo that I can think about that falls under this category (but it is an official Sanrio shop, or it used to be?).
So, do you know any little vintage stores like that that I could reach more easily around central Tokyo? For me, these are like the toy equivalent to Dagashiya stores for candies.
