Swords Bard is kind of in a unique place in regards to backwards comparability. To my recollection, it’s the only subclass that gets a fighting style. Since this subclass wasn’t updated, it still presents the old fighting style options, and just includes two, two weapon fighting and dueling. But since fighting styles are feats now, would that whole feature get replaced by the ability to choose any fighting style feat? Is there an official ruling on this, or would a 5.5e swords bard still only get to pick between dueling and two weapon fighting

I (26m) have come to the realization that extremely close friends, the kind I see all around me, are never going to be in the cards for me. This isn’t to say I have nobody, but sometimes, seeing the communities around me treat each other way more love and kindness than I ever receive makes me feel worse and lonelier than before. I find it hard to make new friends, simply because this is the situation in the main “extracurricular activity” of my adult life, and I like that activity and it keeps me busy, so beyond seeking new relationships, I don’t feel the need to stop.

I have an amazing amazing girlfriend (26f), but her being the only truly meaningful peer relationship in my life can be really hard on us both. I am in touch with some friends from high school and I love the rare time I get with them, but again, it’s a similar situation where everyone else is much closer to me. I am also in touch with a few college friend, but only ever see 1-2 of them in person and our visits our few and far between.

All this to say, can I have a fulfilling life without friendship? I have lots of hobbies and activities, including TV and movies, but every movie is about THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP and much as I enjoy that it can weigh on me a lot. Am I screwed for not having enough real friends and seemingly lacking the ability to make and maintain those friendships, or are there still other ways to enjoy life as a social yet lonely person?

I’ve heard that they added a new fighting style for Arcana Unleashed. Do you know if it’s possible to preview it before the book is out? I’d love to see how it holds up both to the classics in the PHB and some of the new ones from the dndbeyond drops

In my new playthrough of violet I’ve been training up a finizin in hopes to evolve it in union square when the time is right. However I didn’t realize Union square was only doable with specific friends, not strangers, and I’m probably too busy to coordinate something with my one friend who has the game who also lives out of town so I might have to give up on Palafin.

That said, what other water type should I replace it with? My current team aside from Finizin is Pawmot, Skeledurge, Tinkatuff, Lokix, and Grafaiai, so what water type would help me fill in some gaps and be fun and useful?

I recently had to send my Switch 2 in for repairs, and when it came back, all its game data had been erased. I was able to recover most of it via Nintendo online, but not the Pokemon games, meaning my countless hours spent playing Let’s Go Eevee, Sword, Brilliant Diamond, Arceus, Violet, ZA, and FireRed were all erased. I figure there isn’t a way to get it back, but I also didn’t see the harm in checking online to see if there’s a way to recover Pokemon specific data

My switch 2 recently broke so I sent it into Nintendo for repair. They sent back a new switch 2, but without any of my game data. Since I’d used virtual game cards, it erased data dating back to 2019 from my switch 1? I asked the people at Nintendo if there’s any way to get all that back, but I figured I might try my luck with this community before giving up for good.

Earlier today, my relatively new Switch 2(got it in February) displayed a message. It was plugged in at the time. I didn't see what it said, but there was a QR code at the bottom. Before I could read it, it powered off. When I tried to power it back on, it just briefly flashed the Nintendo Logo before powering it off. I've tried many times since, and left it charging for close to 3 hours, but it's still displaying the logo and powering off before I can even go into recovery mode. Do you know what I should do?

What class abilities are there that can change a weapon’s damage type? All I can think of off the top of my head is devotion paladin channel divinity (radiant) and horizon walker as a bonus action (force). With how useless “magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance” became in 5.5, I’d love to come up with less traditional ways to overcome traditional resistances.

Edit 2: my real hope is to make the beast barbarian’s weapons useable without any dm buy in, but it’s still nice to see all the options for more traditional weaponry
