She accepted my request

I'm looking for some honest advice because I'm not sure what the right thing to do is.

About two years ago, there was a girl in my school that I really liked. Long story short, she and one of my best friends pulled a prank on me where they acted like they had confessed their feelings for each other. It really messed me up emotionally. Looking back, it probably sounds silly, but at the time it hit me hard.

After that, I fell into a pretty depressive state. A lot of my friends drifted away or stopped talking to me, and that whole period of my life was one of the worst I've been through. I've moved forward in many ways, but I don't think I ever got proper closure.

Recently, I ended up looking at her profile and, without thinking too much, sent her a friend request. To my surprise, she accepted it and even followed me back.

Now I'm confused.

Part of me wants to message her just to have a normal conversation and maybe finally put the past behind me.

Another part of me thinks I should leave it alone and let her message first, if she ever wants to.

I also don't want to come across as desperate or reopen old wounds for either of us.

So what would you do in my situation? Would you send a simple message, wait to see if she reaches out first, or just leave things exactly as they are and move on?

I'd really appreciate any outside perspective.

I dont know what im doing

Recently, a lot has been happening in my life. I spent four months at a university but decided to leave because I didn’t enjoy the degree or the environment. Many of my friends are already moving into their second semester while I’m waiting for my September intake, so I often feel like I’m falling behind.

I want to move to Australia in the future, but that likely won’t happen for another two or three years. Most of my siblings and relatives are there, and I don’t have many close friends where I live, which sometimes makes life feel lonely.

I also work now, and while people see me as cheerful and outgoing, I often feel very different on the inside. At home, my parents don’t argue constantly, but sometimes their disagreements become very heated, which can be stressful to be around.

I also struggle with insecurity about my appearance and have never really had someone I feel comfortable opening up to emotionally. Seeing my friends have close relationships like that sometimes makes me feel jealous and low.

I went to therapy once, but it didn’t continue due to social stigma and because it is quite expensive. Going through all of this at 18 feels overwhelming at times.

Recently, I started smoking as a way to cope with stress, but I’ve been trying to cut back and now keep it to about one cigarette a week.

I dont know what to do

Tamilan in sri lanka

As a estate Tamil in Sri Lanka whom have lived here for 5 generations, I've faced racism in ways that still stick with me. I've been told I'm "not Sri Lankan" simply because my Sinhala isn't fluent, despite being born and raised here. At my former university, I often felt I was treated differently because I was both Tamil and younger than many of my peers. Whenever I tried to express my opinions, some people would dismiss me with comments like "ganniek wenathuwa hitapan" or even call me a "terrorist." It's frustrating to constantly have your identity questioned and your voice ignored based on your ethnicity rather than the content of what you're saying.

My nephew even told me "this is their country sitha we are different"

My 12 year old nephew is afraid of being different in his school that he is willing to lose his identity

Sorry if this is vent sounds racist but i just wanted to talk about this cause i was banned from r/srilanka for a similar post

I know not all sinhalese poeple are like this but why man?

Am i not a sri lankan just cause of my poor skills in one language?

You guys are the best

I really love Malaysia because it feels like a second home to me. When I visited as a child, I noticed there were so many Tamil speakers, which made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Everywhere I went, people were kind and respectful, and I loved how different languages were treated equally. It was my first overseas trip, so it became a very special memory that I still carry with me. I even got lost once, but kind strangers helped me find my way back to my parents, which I’ll never forget. I hope I get the chance to visit Malaysia again someday soon.
