Thinking of getting a puppy to keep our other dog company - advice?

As above - our sweet boy Jake who is 4 and a rescue is amazing. He’s very good with other dogs, just gets a bit overexcited sometimes, and is a couch potato. He loves to go in the car and go out for walks. I work full time and my husbands work is seasonal. At the moment during the season he is working sometimes 3 days a week.

Now, Jake seems to be a bit lonely. He loves playing and us, but I feel he needs more. So we are thinking of getting another rescue but a younger dog or puppy. I’m just worried because of our work schedules that the new puppy will turn into an anxious mess. We have a huge gate for inside that can seperate the kitchen from the rest of the house to seperate the dogs if we need to, and I’m not comfortable leaving the puppy in a crate for 8 hours.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Herpes?

Hi everyone!

A bit of a story with this one - every now and again I get this crazy itching on only one part of my vagina (picture attached). The only thing that satiates it is either if scratch it almost raw or if I apply something like lube. I looked today and noticed this patch of tiny tiny white bumps and wondered if it’s herpes. I have the strain where is appears on my upper lip but never thought I might have genital. Any insights will be much appreciated!

Sudden toothache - dentist said she doesn’t know why

This happened to me a few weeks ago, got a sudden toothache overnight so booked to see a dentist. One of my upper molars on the left side is definitely sore and I can feel it when I suck through something like a straw. But it’s radiating on the half of my jaw it’s affecting both upper and lower. Some of my gums are swelling as a result.

Went there and she did a hot cold test on the tooth but I felt nothing. In hindsight she didn’t do this test on the backside of the tooth only the front, because I do feel hot and cold severely. I explained the symptoms and asked if it could be decay, if it could be my wisdom teeth coming through. She said she didn’t know and sent me home with five days worth of amoxicillin and said I could take ibuprofen every eight hours. The X-rays showed decay but she thought that what I thought was where the pain is coming from wouldn’t radiate to every where else like I’m describing. There was a dark spot near the root of my molar and she said maybe it’s that but she doesn’t know. Nearly three weeks later still on ibuprofen and the swelling is getting worse. They said they’d call me two weeks later to check in on me but never did. I called them saying they didn’t and have booked another appointment.

Now in wondering even if I should go back to that dentist! I live rurally so takes me an hour and a half to get anywhere to a dentist. Would love some second opinions!

[AUS] terrified I’m not going to get into an honours program

Long story short, I have done four years of study in New Zealand already. According to online, my postgrad diploma has a WAM of 80% and my third year psych has 75%. I have had my degrees assessed by the APS and I have a three year accredited degree. If I stayed in NZ I would have been doing my masters thesis this year.

Now I’ve had a rough couple of years, but I see a lot of universities here in Western Aus only accept about 5% of external applicants! I’m an Aus citizen but I’m sure that won’t matter to them. I just don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get in. I’m a hard worker and really want this, but sometimes that’s never enough. Anyone had any experience getting into programes with grades less than As and A+??

Made my first ever recipe from scratch!!!

It was my vegan friends birthday and I wanted to make her a special cake - I had a few ideas but went for a chocolate cheesecake. All the recipes online I didn’t love, so I put my baking knowledge to good use and viola! I couldn’t believe how well it turned out

Just diagnosed!!!

There I was, Monday afternoon at the doctors. Knew my thyroid THC hormone would be lower as I’ve been told that in the past by a previous doctor. Was previously told that hyperthyroidism was normal amongst women - didn’t think anything more.

Then there was this appointment - new place new doctor. Brilliant female physician who specialises in women’s health. She goes through my labs and points to my thyroid peroxidase. “Do you have a family history of Hashimotos?”. Not that I know of?? The normal range is men’s to be 6 and under - MINE was at 1200!!!

Anyways I digress - I wasnt looking for a diagnosis, but thinking about it over the last few days it explains so much! So guess this is my life now :)) happy that it was found but not gonna lie was not expecting it from that appointment!
