hey, just started watching for the first time ever in my whole life. if anybody gaf here's my opinion on it so far (s1 e1-7)

I love the dynamic of Luffy & Zoro. Like, I feel like, deep down, their relationship is so hilariously shallow (so far), but as a gag, and I'm here for it. Like, Luffy is just a Zoro fan-boy who thinks he kicks so much ass (and so far, imo, yeah), and Zoro just eats it up and that's the only reason why he follows Luffy around.

I also love how dramatic and over-the-top it is. I feel like it's on purpose. If it's not on purpose, I don't feel bad about what I said because I still genuinely enjoy it.

Also I've only watched the dubbed version so far but the voice acting is actually so good which was such a nice unexpected surprise, yay, ty god.

Am I right in my thoughts on the pacing of this...? Does it take some time to establish a good amount of easily memorable narratives tied to loveable characters, and eventually become a sort of show where, as long as you generally understand the characters/roles, then just insert any situation they could ever be in and you'll be hooked? Somewhere between the Pokemon anime and Seinfeld lol? Idk, I think its popularity + me being an outsider + people I know who talk about it and recommended it gave me a sort of preface to understanding what I was getting myself into (that I think benefitted me bc...) So far, yeah, I agree it's so great.

I wanna keep watching it so bad but have responsibilities lmao.

EDIT: Also the music is great; especially in the less-exciting scenes. (Not "less-exciting" in a bad way, just the in-between-fight-scene scenes lol). 10/10 would play in the background doing chores just to feel something again.

My head canon about Waluigi

So it's been established that Waluigi is not related to any of the other characters - he's just some guy. Just some guy who claims to be Luigi's rival. And despite Luigi's typical cowardice, Luigi shows no fear toward Waluigi, which seems like it'd be a little out of character for him.

I think Waluigi is just some guy that Luigi hired to be his "rival" to look cool in front of his brother. Mario has rivals, and Mario is often the brother that gets more attention. So Luigi hired a random guy to act as his own rival just to look cool.

And it's 100% not at all just that Nintendo needed another body to partner with Wario in sports (even though it totally is actually lol).

Playing Soul Silver and... (spoiler tag just in case but nothing major really)

I just got the Glacier Badge after having Lapras hit Pryce's last Pokemon, Pilloswine, with Perish Song, then sent out Togetic to Yawn it to sleep and grant itself wishes while we watched it die in its sleep. So haunting and didn't even use a ghost move. Neat.

I need to add more words so idk. I guess it felt a little fucked up. I guess that's why I thought it was funny. Am /I/ the fucked up one? Aw beans.

Anyway, I forgot how many words I'm supposed to have bare minimum. I guess what I learned from this experience was... maybe Temple Grandin was onto something. Maybe. Just maybe. Idk. Time will tell. Maybe. Idk.

Nobody on r/Pokemon cared so I figured I'd try here lol

Anybody else use text slang when note taking?

Does anybody else use shortened text slang, (e.g., idk, idc, iirc, etc.) when taking notes? I do. Judge me, idc. It's quicker, and it's not like I plan on showing them to anybody lol. Just curious if this is more common than I assume.

Monster truck versions of emergency vehicles

I've seen this as a thing in some kids media (can't recall where exactly) and I'm all for it. Yes. Let's get monster truck versions of all emergency vehicles. Save them from BIG emergencies. Idk how it'd help other than making it known that "oh fuck, shits goin down over there, they busted out the monster ambulance!"

Been trying to find a way to carry these comfortably. I prefer to have my keys on a belt loop, tucked in my back pocket, but my key fob is always getting in the way. Feels too lumpy in my front pocket, and I always forget about it if I just keep it in my bag or coat, and I'd rather not bring my edc bag to work (already have a bag for work and two bags just feels cumbersome).

Why is my life so much harder than everybody else's? lol

Oh yeah, list (for the rules):

Car key fob

Leather key holder thing

Carabiner

A Lego build of the Tower of Babel in its incomplete form. Once you've made it to the point that resembles most depictions of it, the instructions are suddenly in entirely incomprehensible gibberish, and there's still a whole bag of leftover parts, but none of them make any discernable sense for the build; going from beige/brown/gray bricks to leftover Bionicle parts or something.

I know some platforms allow you to send individual messages without sound, but when I need to use it, I still find myself habitually just pressing send more times than not thanks to muscle memory. It'd be cool if we could just mute ourselves whenever we send a text if we know the person we're texting is busy and we don't know if their phone is on silent or not.

Perfect example of when to use it: my wife is a doula, and she tries to get as much sleep as possible when a client of hers is nearing labor, in case they need her in the middle of the night. She keeps her volume up so she can hear her phone, but I cannot stop texting her bc I am so enamored lol (but fr I try to only text her when it's important during those times). But I frequently forget to send my messages without sound.
