hey, just started watching for the first time ever in my whole life. if anybody gaf here's my opinion on it so far (s1 e1-7)
I love the dynamic of Luffy & Zoro. Like, I feel like, deep down, their relationship is so hilariously shallow (so far), but as a gag, and I'm here for it. Like, Luffy is just a Zoro fan-boy who thinks he kicks so much ass (and so far, imo, yeah), and Zoro just eats it up and that's the only reason why he follows Luffy around.
I also love how dramatic and over-the-top it is. I feel like it's on purpose. If it's not on purpose, I don't feel bad about what I said because I still genuinely enjoy it.
Also I've only watched the dubbed version so far but the voice acting is actually so good which was such a nice unexpected surprise, yay, ty god.
Am I right in my thoughts on the pacing of this...? Does it take some time to establish a good amount of easily memorable narratives tied to loveable characters, and eventually become a sort of show where, as long as you generally understand the characters/roles, then just insert any situation they could ever be in and you'll be hooked? Somewhere between the Pokemon anime and Seinfeld lol? Idk, I think its popularity + me being an outsider + people I know who talk about it and recommended it gave me a sort of preface to understanding what I was getting myself into (that I think benefitted me bc...) So far, yeah, I agree it's so great.
I wanna keep watching it so bad but have responsibilities lmao.
EDIT: Also the music is great; especially in the less-exciting scenes. (Not "less-exciting" in a bad way, just the in-between-fight-scene scenes lol). 10/10 would play in the background doing chores just to feel something again.
