Does Valen get more interesting?

I really want to lover her, but I’ve spoken to her every day since starting (I’m only on spring 14), and her only dialogue has been about being a doctor.

If I get to know her better does this change, or is that the only characteristic the game has given her?

Can’t vacuum

Being a bit hyperbolic with the title; but I absolutely hate the sound of a vacuum. I also have horrible anxiety around my neighbours hearing it, even when I do it at a normal time.

My apartment only has hard flooring (fake wood, like a vinyl or something)

I have two brooms that I use but they don’t pick up everything and I can always feel little bits on the floor no matter how thorough I’ve been.

Please recommend alternatives if you can!!!

“I used to be a lesbian”

My good friend has a bf of 6 years, but is always saying she was a lesbian before meeting him. Not that she was bi (which she identifies as now) and didn’t know it, but that she WAS a lesbian before him. She just saw him and she was no longer a lesbian.

Part of me feels really icky/resentful when she says this, because it’s like she’s watering down the meaning of lesbianism. It’s such a beautiful thing, which I absolutely cherish. I also feel that it plays into the “you just haven’t found the right man yet” rhetoric that homophobes/lesbophobes use.

But then another part of me feels guilty for feeling this way; everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community should have the freedom to identify however the hell they want, and who am I to disagree with someone’s experience?! And it’s not her fault that her experience is weaponised by bigots.

Idk. Just wanted to get that out bc she’s such a good friend and I love her dearly, and I’ve never said any of this to her (which I wouldn’t)

Brush cleaning - IPA or soap

I’ve seen people online say that you should use IPA to clean brushes in between clients on the job and then you should use soap and water when you’re back to “properly” clean them after.

Genuine question: why is this? IPA sanitises them completely and removes the pigment and buildup/gunk on its own, doesn’t it? What’s the difference between this and using soap and water?

I also thought the water + soap method loosens the glue on your brushes and will result in needing to replace them more often.

Do you call out ableism at work?

I dont wanna give too much detail bc it makes me sad to think about, but I’ve had two really upsetting experiences at work with the same customer who I’m pretty sure is autistic. I’ve spoken to him/helped him and he said I’m the only one that does.

Both times all my coworkers immediately assumed he was suspicious because of the way he behaves, even though he hadn’t actually done anything wrong. They kept calling him “weird,” dismissed autism when I brought it up, and made comments like autism is “used as an excuse.”

One of the managers even followed him out of the shop because they thought he’d stolen something, but it turned out he hadn’t.

I don’t think it’ll be received well if I bring it up, but I feel so awful that this is happening. I don’t imagine that guy will come back after this, but we’re bound to have more disabled customers in and I’m scared they’ll be treated badly too.

Only my trusted friends at work know I’m autistic, and I have no intention of telling anyone else, especially after all this.

What would you do? A big part of me wants to drop it in the name of self preservation, but another part knows that would be wrong.

How to moisturise/exfoliate while using medicated cream?

I’m using clobetasol propionate 0.05mg on my wrist and hands at the moment.

I think it’s been good so far, specifically with pain/itching reduction which is wonderful, though I’ve only used it for a couple days.

I find that it causes more flaking/dryness though, so can anyone tell me how they moisturise/exfoliate when using a steroid?

I have the ordinary natural moisturising factors and the paula’s choice 2% salicylic acid.

Is there a specific order/way I can use these with my cream?

Thanks in advance for any help, psoriasis has a way of making you feel like crap about yourself lmao so any advice is greatly appreciated ❤️

Are all body oils sugary?

Idk if I’ve just had bad luck so far, but every body oil I’ve smelled/tried has been sugary/vanilla heavy.

I’m trying to find one that smells powdery (controversial I know lol) and fresh.

Is there a reason for this, like the body oil formula making the notes sweeter or something? Even the oils that are in the same scent as a perfume I like seem to smell very sugary.

Just want to know if I should give up and stick to lotions, despite the desire for an oil

Anyone tried dying over black?

I have a lot of black clothing (polyester, cotton, mixes) that I would wear far more often if they were a dark burgundy or dark green etc.

Is it possible to use a coloured dye over them to make a super dark version? Never dyed anything before, sorry if this is a silly question lol

You’re allowed to be quiet!

this is mostly for people that feel embarrassed and/or guilty about not having something to say in unfamiliar situations.

i’ve always pushed myself to try and talk, so I don’t come off as rude, even when I really have nothing to say or just don’t know what to say. This almost always results in me feeling incredibly embarrassed about saying something stupid lmao

Just this week, I started a new job and was in training for seven hours at a time for four days. There were a few times where we had to go around the room and introduce ourselves/talk about something specific. Pretty much every time that happened I ended up bright red after seeing something that made me seem incredibly dumb.

BUT, those were unavoidable. In more social situations where it wasn’t mandatory to speak, I did something very new for me, and just… chose not to. Not unless I had something to say that I felt good about. I can’t really word how freeing it felt, it’s probably one of the first times I think I’ve actually unmasked, and it was in a super unfamiliar/stressful environment!!!

It feels much better to only speak when I really want to. I feel like I’m able to be more myself. It took away the stress of forcing myself to come up with something just to fit in.

I’m shocked at how NOT burned out I am after four days of intense interaction with very strict social rules.

10/10 would recommend this to every autistic person I know, ONLY SPEAK WHEN YOU WANT TO!!! being quiet is not a bad thing! It doesn’t make you look weird! It doesn’t make you seem dumb!

anyone that thinks negatively about people that are quiet aren’t the type of people that we want to be interacting with/friends with anyway.

This is maybe something all of you are already comfortable with lol but I just wanted to share in case there’s anyone that feels like I did. ❤️

My diets so bad my hair is falling out

I’m fairly sure I have arfid. I’ve basically only been eating potatoes, pasta, bread, and takeaways like KFC for months.

I know it’s awful, I feel awful, I look awful. I’ve lost almost all muscle tone I used to have, and my already thin hair has gotten so much worse to the point it looks like i’m fully balding.

I basically get no vitamins. I take supplements, but it’s not enough

PLEASE give me tips on how to work healthier things into my diet? Any quick/easy snack bars or something that I can force feed myself?😭

EDIT: there are so many responses now I can’t reply to them all, but please know I’ve read every single one and am beyond grateful for the advice and support.

i’ve tried talking to doctors and people in my life about this before and they never take it seriously, so seeing the effort put in by so many of you is really comforting

i’ve got so many great suggestions, and the idea of finally getting better is much less daunting. thank you all ❤️

How to change the vibe of a space without buying anything new?

i’m absolutely desperate for a change of scenery/vibe in my apartment.

The problem is, I really can’t afford to buy anything new.

How can I change the vibe of my apartment without buying new things? I’ve already tried rearranging the furniture, but it doesn’t feel like enough

What do you do when your feelings are stuck?

Sorry for ridiculous title lol i just don’t know how to word it.

Idk if maybe my depressions coming back, but I’ve felt like I need to cry really hard for weeks and nothings coming out. As soon as I start to feel like I could cry it just plugs right back up.

I’ve been so unproductive today, despite the amount of work I know I need to do (essays/project due in a few days) I also have adhd which I know is the main cause of this.

I’m just feeling so blue… It’s like my emotions have been bottled up but the pressure is building and I can’t get the bottle open and at this point I don’t care if I get it open in a controlled way or if it absolutely explodes in a messy eruption. It’s actually physically uncomfortable.

Have you guys experienced this? It’s starting to worry me a little :(

Edit to add I’m not on antidepressants or any meds that make you unable to cry/feel emotions as strongly

ADHD hacks to get things done in the morning?

Waking up has been such an immense struggle for me my whole life, but I’ve found a system that works!! This unfortunately doesn’t help with productivity in the mornings though, and I always end up basically paralysed for 3-4 hours before I actually move to do whatever I need to.

Any tips on how to start momentum in the mornings?

Here’s the wake up routine I have, maybe it’ll help one of you as well :)

  1. drink a lot of water before I go to sleep

  2. take meds when first alarm goes off, notice I need to pee

  3. inevitably ignore the need to pee

  4. alarm goes off at wake up time, I get up because I NEED to go to the bathroom, and my meds have kicked in so I don’t go back to sleep
