Traveling to Maui and Kauai with teens this summer. We are Hyatt members so thinking the Andaz in Maui and the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. While we want to enjoy the hotels, we don’t want hotel time to be the primary focus in either place, definitely want adventure and activity. Both hotels good with teens? Planning to book with a Prive agent for extra perks.

Planning to spend 10 days in Hawaii this summer with 2 teenagers and will fly back from Kauai to the NYC. Which flight timing / combo feels right? Normally, I am all about direct flights and avoid transfers whenever possible, but Option A is oddly appealing since we would get home and basically have dinner and go to bed, vs Option C has us trying to stay awake an entire day after a red-eye. In order from least to most expensive:

A) leave Kauai at 7:30 pm, try to sleep, land in Denver in the early morning, land home around 3 pm

😎 leave Kauai at 1:30 pm, land in either LAX / SFO night, take a red eye and hope to sleep, land home at 8 am

C) leave Kauai any time to Honolulu, get on the direct Honolulu - JFK flight that leaves around 3 pm, lands in JFK 7 am

My daughter and I are flying EWR to LAX for her 15th birthday weekend. I have two United Club passes. Do we want 4 pm snacks / dinner in Newark (don’t know terminal A or C yet) or early breakfast in LA?

I have about 300K Chase Sapphire points that I want to transfer to either British Airways to use to fly Alaska Airlines OR transfer to United. I also have a United Credit card so i get some extra perks with that card (a slightly decreased points cost for ticket, free bag, etc). Am I better off transferring to one over the other?

First warm weekend and I realize that while I’ve upgraded my shoes and bottoms game (wide leg pants, looser jean shorts, higher waists) my tops are ribbed tanks or boxy tees in shades of white, black, grey, and navy, maybe a stripe if I’m feeling fancy. How can I upgrade my tops to still be casual but elevated?

Fit 45 yo north east working suburban mom who still wants to be comfortable.

We are planning some outdoor activities in Hawaii, including hikes, but I do not find my keens comfortable for hiking. I also don’t want to wear my big hiking boots on a flight that long. I keep hearing about trail shoes. What should I look for here? Is waterproof necessary? What I’ve always loved about my hiking boots is that when they get dirty you can’t tell!!!

Thinking I can pack one pool shoe/day, one night shoe, one trail shoe, and call it a day. Do i need take the keens? Snorkeling, maybe kayak, catamaran, hikes to waterfalls and beaches.

Obviously this is a rough sketch but curious everyone's thoughts on pacing, if anything is glaringly missing or things we can skip. Husband and I were in Hawaii once 20 years ago, did Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island, so wanted to do Maui and Kauai with the kids.

6 nights Maui/Wailea / 4 nights Kauai Koloa

Day 1 — Sun (Arrival)

Day 2 — Mon (Haleakalā sunrise, maybe pineapple tour)

Day 3 — Tue beach activity day, snorkel, paddleboard

Day 4 - Wednesday Road to Hana

Day 5 - Thursday another beach hop / maybe surf lesson day

Day 6 - Friday IDK?

Day 7 - Saturday switch to Kauai

Day 8 - Sunday Na Pali Coast boat day

Day 9 - Monday Waimea Canyon

Day 10 - Tuesday relax day (or switch day 9-10?)

Day 11 - Wednesday (tubing?)

Day 12 - Thursday relax and depart

Option A: Would you rather, have a very early, very long day, leave NYC around 7:30 AM, arrive in Hawaii dinnertime?

OR

Option B: Leave NYC in the evening and fly to LAX or SFO, sleep at the airport hotel, get on a 10 am flight to Hawaii, arrive by lunchtime?

Family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Prices are comparable, difference is the hotel night in CA.
