Is it a good or bad idea to try the ARE's without studying (7 years experience)?

Basically just that.

I absolutely HATE studying with a passion. As in, I simply just can't make myself do it, even with the proper resources, likely due to ADHD.

But I feel like I know the profession quite well - I've had some excellent mentors and a lot of hands-on experience in all categories in my 7-years of experience. I feel I have a pretty good grip on architecture and my understanding of the profession - I feel like I could take the ARE exams with little or no studying and pass most of them. I haven't done this previously, however, because I haven't wanted to "waste" the firm's "pay for the first exam" benefit.

I found out my new employer will generously pay for the first THREE attempts at ARE exams, so now I'm considering just scheduling them and seeing what I can pass on the first go.

Is this a good or bad idea?

Sporty daily commuters using regular 87 gasoline?

New here - I'd consider myself an enthusiast car guy. I'm especially into racing and do a lot of iRacing specifically.

I'm looking for my next used market car. Currently driving a 2016 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL with a V6 and paddle shifters. It's been fun but Altimas get a bad rep.

I also just started a new job with a 40 minute commute each way. Initially, I was looking at the Infiniti Q50S or some BMW models before realizing they all require premium 91 gasoline or higher. Maybe that'd be okay if my job was more local, but premium gas is gonna kill my bank account with that commute.

So here I am asking car guys: what are some sporty looking, fun to drive "car guy" respected cars (4-door sedans specifically) that are also reliable daily commuters and run on regular gasoline?

How do I make my spouse understand demand avoidance?

29 y.o. inattentive.

I have plenty of areas in my life where I can be more disciplined, and my spouse certainly makes me aware of those things. I'm often aware of said issues already, though sometimes I do need to be confronted. When that happens, I'm usually empathetic and can understand the frustration.

The kicker for me is after that initial confrontation when it turns into micromanagement, constantly telling me to make those changes even though I'm already working on them.

As we all understand, altering our habits is incredibly difficult for us, so maybe I do need reminders, idk. But daily reminders to make said changes instigate that internal demand avoidance in me. I was already working on the changes. I am successfully making the changes. But now that you are telling me to make the changes I've already made, it murders my momentum and I regress and revert back to my old habits. I'm sure this further solidifies to my spouse that I need perpetual reminders when in reality it's the perpetual reminders that are depriving me of my own internal motivation to change!

My spouse knows I have ADHD, but I just don't know how to say, "when you tell me what to do so often, it makes me not want to do it, even if I was already doing it". I feel like it's just such a wild concept to explain to someone who doesn't experience that.

How can I communicate this reality without seeming like a child or an ass?

How many different Pit House setups do you use with iRacing?

I spent all day utilizing AI help to create the most realistic Pit House setup for use in iRacing, and I really like how it turned out... except it's really only good for Sports Cars. Tried using the same setup for Super Formula Lights (you know, the excessively stable car), and just couldn't keep it straight. But I also set some of my fastest lap times ever in LMP2 and GT3.

So it got me thinking - do y'all use different setups for different car styles in iRacing specifically? Or do you just have one setup that you use across disciplines? I'd also be very curious to know your iRating too.

Thanks!

WHY why WHY TF do IndyCar drivers leave SO MUCH FKN SPACE between drivers ahead EVEN ON THE RESTARTS.

I feel like it happens disproportionally on restarts in any IndyCar series where drivers leave a full turn's worth of space between their car and the car ahead, even when coming up to the green flag. It's bad enough that people don't know how to keep up their pace until reaching the pace car, and even when we "catch" the pace car, people leave half a fkn stretch of track to the car in front. Wtf are we doing, seriously...

Check the fuck up to the car in front and let's fkn race, holy shit guys.

Edit: Top split, fyi
