My thoughts on Halo Campaign Evolved
I bought the premium edition of the game so I’ve had a week to play the game and I’ve played it twice over including the bonus missions. I’ll be discussing my thoughts on it, my pros and my cons aswell.
Starting off with the good I think Campaign Evolved is a good remake overall, the story is kept in tact and having the important Forerunner diologue kept in the game was really important I’m glad they kept it all in instead of changing things up. I think the game itself looks beautiful the graphics and the fidelity is perfect. I think the weapon sandbox is a huge improvement having more weapons to use like the SMG and energy sword is great. Also gameplay wise I think it’s very strong and smooth. I love the changes made to the Maw I think it completely improves what was a very annoying and overly difficult and weirdly designed level in CE. I think the new version is miles better.
I also think the new library is a big improvement overall I think the level design is better it flows better and feels more full and complete however I don’t like how the sense of scale is lost with the level but overall still a good improvement. I think Sargent Johnson is also a huge improvement over how he used to be I think with the bonus missions and then going into campaign evolved I feel a much better connection with the character and I enjoy him a lot more. Don’t get me wrong David Scully did a great job but i think the new voice actor is a better fit for the character. I also think the level design of the bonus missions is very good and the style they used to design the areas is beautiful and also the character design of the covenant is incredible in those missions.
And I think the bonus missions flow and play really well. The game gets a lot better once you hit 343 guilty spark it starts to flow a lot better the cutscenes improve a lot and the changes made to those levels are great. I think the damage feedback of the covenant is maybe the best ever, it’s absolutely amazing and it feels so good when you kill them, or hit them because it’s giving you that feedback that there being hit and taking damage it’s very well done for the coven. I also think the weapons designs and sounds are amazing the AR feels amazing same as the battle rifle and needle rifle in the bonus missions I think all weapons sound and feel great the only sound I don’t like is still the magnums sound which is very flat. However the vechicals in this game are absolutely flawless wow they feel amazing they’re smooth and the explosions front eh grandes and tanks are chefs kiss the best in any halo game for the explosions and vechicals.
Onto the more negative aspects of Campaign Evolved the first obvious one is the pre rendered cutscenes for the most part they are really not good, and feel very unfinished and strange I think the cut scenes up until 343 guilty spark are pretty bad I think the beginning sequence is great love the extended story in it. But the rest of the cutscenes are bad. But that changes once you get to 343 guilty spark where the cutscenes get a lot better, guilty sparks cutscene is flawless. I think Keyes cutscene of his death is far better than the original games cutscene for it. The cutscenes in the Maw are great too. A big negative for me is still the forerunner architecture which for me just doesn’t work very well, you loose the magic of the game honestly there’s certain levels where I’m like ahh this used to feel so much better and had so much more wonder about it.
The Enemy AI of the flood, the infection forms are still great very quick and jumpy which I love. But when you encounter the combat forms there slow and unresponsive they don’t jump or run at you with speed and I think the game and the flood loses it’s scary feel and it’s overpowering feeling that it’s ment to have. This continues with the floods damage feedback which absolutely sucks when your hitting the combat forms or the tank forms you can’t even tell you’ve hit them because they don’t twitch or get hit back or even move. Which really damages the gameplay of the flood. Same with the brutes in the bonus missions the damage feedback is absolutely terrible you cannot tell when you’ve hit them and it doesn’t feel satisfying at all to kill the flood or brutes.
The bonus missions story is another mixed bag some of it is really cool with the whole test tube experiments that’s when it’s interesting. But when it moves over to the ODST side of the story I find myself loosing interest in the missions completely. I can tell this game wasn’t the finish artificial that everyone had hoped for the developers themselves. This was bound to happen once we found out the game was pushed forwards from the end of the year to July. To avoid GTA 5 and COD etc. this was going to happen I had a feeling the game wouldn’t be the finished article which is a massive shame.
The controversial sprint now this is solidified for me in Campaign Evolved that sprint should never be in this game, all they try and do is tone down sprint and give us skulls to turn off sprint yet they still want to keep it in the game when sprint doesn’t work. This games remake doesn’t change the design of the levels to have sprint in them. It just doesn’t work at all and isn’t needed it’s a useless feature that allows you skip over parts of the game. And Campaign Evolved absolutely misses the health system this game is far to easy without that sense of scare and need for health packs.
Anyway overall for me Campaign evolved is a good remake and I’ll enjoy playing this a lot especially for the later levels of the game. I think 343 guilty spark is the best level in the game and actually the only time this remake beats level from Combat Evolved. Id give Campaign Evolved a 8/10 and the bonus missions a 7/10 let me know what you think of the game give me the pros and cons. I think there’s a really bright future ahead for halo and if halo 2 and 3 remake use this games gameplay and all the positives but improves upon the negatives they will get better with each release.
Reality Awaits has landed with a 53 User Score, on AOTY making it the bands lowest rated album, how do you feel about this?
I gave it a second listen yesterday and honestly I think I maybe landed at a 5 out of 10 personally it didn’t improve from the first listen but didn’t get worse. Which isn’t saying much I think this album lacks the soul, and heart that the Strokes are known for, and it completely misses the mark for me personally. Being a long time Strokes fan I’ve enjoyed every album no matter what and I come back to listen to them all very often.
This will be the one album in there discography that I will probably skip most of the time. I genuinely dislike the heavy autotuned vocals which are beyond forced and feel like this corny addition to try make the album sound different and unique. Yet it falls flat on its arse nearly every song. I think musically it doesn’t give anything unique or memorable there’s just no creative edge everything is very simple and basic in the music department I think some songs have some interesting ideas and elements in the music but, I just cannot get past not being able to understand a word Julian is saying because of the autotune.
Honestly I just came away from listening to the album and feeling like, that’s it really? That’s what the album has to offer and show for itself I was genuinely very very upset by it, it’s not often I walk away from an album and feeling that way. Compared to the new abnormal which is maybe in my top 5 favourite albums of all time, it was an album with creativity flowing through it and incredible ideas and sounds that were blissful to the ear with incredible vocals and beautiful lyrics, reality awaits is the polar opposite and that’s not a good thing. Even just the lyrics about Fantano I just thought where the hell did that come from? and why did he just casually drop that in. I cannot stand fantano either, with a burning passion but listening to the album and hearing that, I was just like wtf are you doing Julian. You’re talking about him not knowing art and music while you spend a whole album singing behind autotune.
Just everything about this album and the roll out was completely weird and off, them quietly delaying the album by a whole month with the singles sounding completely off and there being little to no promotion for the album, I dunno just nothing was working for me with it. A few highlights though, there were 2 songs that are quite good Dine Dash is a solid song along with going to babble on are solid enough songs, some nice moments and less autotune presence aswell. And going shopping is still okay too. Worst song is absolutely Falling out of love the autotune is actually unbearable here it’s overly long, and just all rolls into one barely being able to make out lyrics.
Anyways that’s just my opinion on the album and era of the band as a whole I’ll probably get downvoted into hell for it but hey that’s my opinion on it, I listened to it though Audieze Maxwell headphones which are high end as I love my music to death but I’d like to know what you all thought about the album.
I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard this song…
I was watching a very popular show from the uk called Jamie Johnson FC which is a continuation from the original Jamie Johnson and came across a rare bring me the horizon song being used. And it happeneds to be one of there most underrated and beautiful songs they’ve ever made. It was I don’t know what to say from amo.
I heard these synths come in and I was like omg which song is this then it came to me it was I don’t know what to say such a masterful and beautiful song to use not a bring me song I’d ever expect to hear on a show as it’s not up there on the popularity list but it shows to me that the creatives on the show really know there UK music I’ve heard, royal blood all over this show, with Idles, Nothing But Thieves, Wolf Alice and now bring me the Horizon
I hope this isn’t the last time we have Alex with Linkin Park
He should be the only live guitarist they have going forward he feels like Linkin park he’s been touring for 100 shows and we’ve all gotten so used to him that we consider him a band member. I hope Linkin park see how much the fans love Alex and keep him a round going forward I’d hate to have a new guitarist performing with the band going forward it wouldn’t feel right
Muses first green album on albumoftheyear since black holes and revelations
The resistance is also one away from being green aswell how is The Wow! Signal for everybody I think it really is there best album in 20 years is absolutely beautiful and feels like the return to form we’ve been praying for after the outright horrible will of the people

Really good side by side comparison of the evolution of this game from last year to now
I think the game looks 10 times better than the last showing. Honestly I was at a 4/10 on hype level after seeing the gameplay from 7 months ago now I’m at an easy 8/10. And I think some of these changes have really helped the lighting makes the world of difference to the overall vibe and tone of the remake. I like the changes to the forerunner structures a lot. I hated the reflective shiny futuristic look, I’m glad they went for a more Matt aesthetic and added more bronze on the inside of the structures and grime on the outside.
Making it feel older. While still don’t love the forerunner look I’d still rather the original CE designs that make it feel more ancient. I understand that they want the forerunner structures this way for a reason and I can tell they do really care and have taken feedback onboard. Overall the game is looking alot better than last year thankfully. I’m really excited to play the game
The new version of halo Campaign Evolved has added some new features in the sky
What are these forerunner structures in the sky does anyone know. They were not in the 2025 version and where not in the original CE as far as I’m aware?
Matt Cameron Hears Bad Omens For The First Time
This is soo good saw this pop up and I was like no way this is true. I’m a huge bad omens fan and pearl jam fan so this crossover was literally a dream come true enjoy guys. Seeing Matt Cameron doing such a great job at this was awesome!
The improvements to the Forerunner designs in 7 months needs to be praised 🔥
First photo is from 7 months ago, second and third are from the new trailers. Love the grime it makes the structures look older and more ancient. Also making them less reflective and perfect looking is great, and also the shadows and colour off the entire scene are leagues ahead. They really took some of our feedback involved in 7 months and with these 2 trailers it really shows that.
Edit just noticed on the second photo the back structure column of the building has completely changed design and looks a lot better.
Sam for the love of god rest your voice you are not sounding good at all I’m very worried.
I saw him in Manchester in February and he still sounded good but you could hear his voice was straining and getting screechy. Now he’s sounding even worst why won’t this man just cancel the tours and let his voice rest and get some vocal help and medicine or whatever vocalists needs.
Infinity on NeverAlways Vol 1
It was a crime to shove infinity at the end of neveralways vol 1 and forget about it, how can you have the first single be the last song on the album it doesn’t even sound like a last song for an album. When you get to infinity it sounds like you’re starting a new album because it doesn’t match or fit where it’s placed infinity should have been track 1 or 2. Never ever should have been a final song.
Never going to get over this at all we love you KSI, not going to be the same without you 😭❤️❤️
Jesus Christ these guys are actually embarrassing
Cmon guys stop eating shit up it’s not real. I’m pretty sure Harry would know if KSI actually left the sidemen.
This cutscene really started to turn to people away from halo when it was released.
Obviously halo 4 wasn’t a major success for the fans with its a drastic changes to literally everything to do with halo and the call of duty feeling that halo 4 had. And obviously the controversial forerunner change/retcon. That’s without going into the redesigns of the weapons and the sound changes that really started to alienate fans.
But honestly this moment in halo 5 is just exhausting and it’s just that moment where your like for god sake could this be any lazier than this. It’s just really bad no punches even feel like they’re hitting or doing anything it just feels so hollow and slow and unsatisfying, that also just translates to the overall campaign of halo 5 in general. Also this scene should have been at the end of the game not half way through and it needed to feel bigger and better.
Thank god Halo infinite changing directions and went back to feeling like halo again with a good story and fixing the mess with Cortana from 5. It was far from perfect but let’s all give props to halo infinite for actually feeling like halo and having a pretty solid story. And the best weapon sandbox.
When playing halo 2 campaign what’s generally favoured how it originally was or the anniversary version of it ?
I know for combat evolved the anniversary is mostly disliked because of its radical changes to the game and overall design feeling beyond inferior in every way. But what’s the general consensus for halo 2 when you play halo 2s campaign now what do you play on regular or anniversary edition?
