Regrets for borrowing instead of suspending...

Regrets for borrowing instead of suspending...

I wish libby offered an option to suspend recently borrowed books... these are both new books, but they're both kind of chunky. I love Amina Al-Sirafi's story, but the demand for Ballad of Falling Dragons is higher and I feel guilty not reading it immediately...

I was looking forward to Ballad of falling dragons, but the plot of the first book was so scattered and messy that I just want to continue reading the tapestry of fate, because I know it'll be better constructed and cohesive 🥲

Sorry fans of Sarah Parker at my library, I promise to get to it in a few days 🙇‍♀️

2026 Ballot - Advisory questions and candidate research

Okay, I'm kind of new to this, so apologies if this is an obvious question. Why do republican ballots in SC have an advisory question attached? Democratic ones don't?

Also, are these trick questions? They kind of feel like it. I've never been big on voting when it comes to elections (more focused on policy changes tbh) and I have no idea how to educate myself on candidates 🙃. Does anyone have advice for how to do this? Debates, articles, etc. I don't mind researching, but have no clue where or how to start...

This is my first back carrier...

So, I bought the standard kinderpack because my baby is 30" & 24.5lbs at 9mo+. The site recommended not getting the preschool one at the small end of the band, but he tends to throw his head back a lot. It's it normal for the head to be so high?

Is it just my inexperience that makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong here? 🫠 should the shoulder straps be looser?

Looking for a specific book club/vibe (question)

I'll try to make this quick. I joined fable kind of recently. I don't know how to navigate the club section or even how to search what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of or how to look for a book club that focuses on small town detective murder mysteries? Talking the kind of old people murder shows like Midsummer Murders, Miss Marple, or Thursday Muder Club (book, not show, but same vibe)

Please help if you know how to search, because rn I'm just getting bombarded with 500+ "popular" clubs from influencers

So, my Libby app still has me logged in, but I can no longer verify my account? Anyone with the Department of Defense card on Libby seeing any issues or know what the problem could be? I tried logging in with my social & my dod id but neither worked. I'm trying to verify my kobo, but the site asking for verification is treating me like I don't have an account??

I set it up on libby awhile ago, but never linked it to another device because the library kind of sucks. This is the first time I've tried to sign back in. Do the accounts get Purged and I need a new one now? It's still active on my phone, just can't transfer books.

Update: so my account is fine, but logging in through a secondary source is the issue. Anyone else have a fix for this?

So, I have a 9mo boy who eats books. Not such a big deal for his books, frustrating when he tries to do it to mine. I do read him books, but he's just not that interested tbh. I don't watch TV with him unless it's like ocean life documentaries (calm voices, soothing video). Even then it's very rare. I read a lot on my kobo&kindle (more recently the kobo since the clicker is Bluetooth & honestly fuck amazon).

Does anyone have experience trying to - or successfully - raising a reader? I want him to like books, but Im just not able to read physical copies around him. Am I worrying too much about this? I don't want to raise an iPad kid that can't think for himself or empathize with others.

I don't have a big support system outside of my spouse and a close friend - parents & inlaws are nice, just too far away to help - & the shit I hear about kids these days stresses me out so much...

TLDR: Is reading an ereader the same as playing on my phone in front of my kid? Any advice for raising empathic kids (since kids don't learn empathy until way later)?
