Drawer design feedback

My brother and I are designing a camper for our 2015 Outback and would love your opinion on some drawer ideas. We're very happy with the right drawer: the drawer face folds down in front of the stove, extending your counter space.

For the left drawer, we're deciding between two designs: a "drawer-top counter" or a "fold-down counter."

Option 1 gives slightly more storage space, but risks crumbs falling from the counter into the drawer while cooking. The drawer will probably have non-cooking gear in it, like jackets and shoes, because the cooking gear will be in the other drawer. So we don't want crumbs and food spills on that stuff. If it was spilling onto pots and pans, that wouldn't be so bad. The cutting board plus the lip does eat up about 3/4" of vertical storage space.

Option 2 gives more counter space, but eats up some enclosed drawer space. However, you can easily gain this storage back by placing a plastic dish tub on the counter surface. Under the tub, there will be a non-slip material, so I'm not worried about it falling out. Also, you lose no vertical storage space with this option. In the tub, we would store dishes and other stuff that would easily go somewhere else if we needed to use the counter space below it.

We also have a 4'x2' table that we're folding up and sliding into the right drawer cavity, so the left drawer wouldn't be our only counter space.

Which option do you all prefer? What are some potential pros and cons of each I didn't mention?

This is all 3/8" plywood btw. Thanks so much for your opinions!

How does the IoT relay from Digital Loggers work?

I'm installing a dehumidifier pump with relay in my mom's basement, following [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9\_ogxUv9WEI) tutorial.

Can someone please explain to me how the relay device works?

Here is the setup in the tutorial: The dehumidifier drains into the condensate pump, which has two identical wires connected to the high water level switch: one that goes into the negative end of the Phoenix connector on the relay, and one that is spliced to the black-jacketed wire of the AC adapter, which is plugged into power. The red-jacketed wire of the AC adapter goes in the other end (postive end of the Phoenix connector).

I'm assuming black is negative and red is positive. How exactly does this setup work? When the pump's high water level switch is triggered, does it send a current to the safety wires, which is the signal for the relay? What if the pump suddenly lost power? How would it send a current to the safety wires? Is that why the AC adapter is plugged into power?

Thanks so much!

Best non-slip material for sleeping platform?

I'm looking for a non-slip material for my sleeping platform. I'd like it to wipe clean (so no carpet) and not have holes (because those collect grime; so no shelf liners). Waterproof is a plus.

I'm currently leaning towards outdoor carpet, non-slip fabric, or polyurethane laminate, but would love more input, thanks!

USB hub heat

My Anker 332 USB hub is warm on top. It is adhesive-bound to my metal monitor stand, which has no vents under the hub. Should I flip the hub over? Cut some vent holes in the monitor stand? Do nothing because it’s not a problem? Also, the closest cable is my computer charger, because the hub supports pass-thru charging, so that might be generating some heat. Lmk, thanks!

Nitecore NU25 button

Nitecore NU25 headlamp button broke after a few years. After removing the cover I can see it’s pretty flimsy and am surprised it lasted so long. Does anyone know if this weird tab design thing is on purpose or just poor design? I’m looking to get a replacement headlamp but don’t want the same thing to happen to me again. Thanks!

Encrypt hard drive

I'd like to encrypt my hard drive to protect against a physical laptop thief viewing my hard drive. I know this is typically done in boot settings, but I'd like to avoid the hassle of rebooting. I guess I could export my install to an iso file, but I'm wondering if there's an easier way. System details below. Thanks so much!

GE microwave strips of plastic film

GE microwave, strips of plastic film on either side of the window on the inside. I removed them just now but only noticed them after like 4 months. Is this dangerous for me? Like did it volatilize plastic fumes into the air within the microwave and into my food? Thx!

Immigration documents for American intern

Hi, I'm an American doing unpaid research in the Farming Systems Ecology (FSE) department for this whole fall semester, and I need immigration documents (I also want to get a part-time job to make money). I've been emailing with FSE's secretary about the visa process, who contacted WCFV (which I understand is the immigration office for WUR), who said they would aim to contact FSE by July 1st to start the procedure. That seems a little late, right? So I emailed the FSE secretary again to ask if that would be enough time, and she said she was waiting on a response from WCFV. I've emailed WCFV twice now with no response.

Can anyone please offer advice, guidance, or reassurance on this process? Thanks so much!

Probably strings, maybe also with opera voices. Very dramatic, probably used in movie scenes. Kinda like Ave Maria but especially the second part of this clip (after 0:13) differs from Ave Maria. Thanks!

Edit: this got stuck in my head after hearing Bleu Nuage - Volupté from 0:56-1:26. At 1:26, it goes in a different direction, but if it did what my clip did at 0:21, it would sound like the song I’m thinking of lol.
