I built a world building data base connected to board game prototyping and playlets loggin… now looking for beta testers.

I originally started building a worldbuilding database that could be connected to a playtest log, just for myself.

I wanted a faster way to create and connect all the content for my board game projects — rules, cards, storybooks, etc. — print prototypes, playtest them, and actually keep track of which version I was testing.

Then it kind of escalated, as these things have a tendency to do...

At some point I realized this might actually be useful to other board game designers too. So I kept working on it, and now I’m ready to share it with you guys.

The basic loop is:

Build → Print → Playtest → Log → Tweak → Repeat

You can lock versions before a playtest, log what happened, make changes, and then test the next version without losing track of what changed along the way.

It can also automatically generate simple wireframe cards straight from your content database. So when something changes, you can quickly generate and print a new prototype instead of rebuilding the cards manually.

It’s now at the point where I think it could become a real product, but I need other designers to actually use it.

So I’m looking for a few beta testers with games in development who want to try it and tell me what works, what sucks,

what’s confusing, and what’s missing.

The beta will run for 30 days, and I’m starting with 20 beta tester accounts so I can actually keep up with the feedback (and database costs).

If you’re interested, you can apply for a beta account at lorunastudio.com.

There’s also an example project on the site that you can browse around in if you just want to see how it works first.

Would genuinely love to hear what you think — even if you don’t want to beta test.

What’s currently in Loruna:

  • Compendium — your game content/database and the source everything else reads from.
  • Component Studio — automatically turn your content into printable card prototypes.
  • Print sheets — generate PDFs with cards laid out for printing and cutting.
  • Rules & Rulebook — keep rules versioned alongside the rest of your game and compile them into a rulebook.
  • Playtest logging & findings — log sessions and generate reports from your playtests.
  • Analytics — track changes between versions and answer things like “did this change actually work?”
  • Piles & component counts — keep track of what’s actually in the box.
  • Expansions — group content into products/expansions without duplicating everything.
  • Storybooks — for campaign/narrative games.
  • CSV import/export — get existing game data in and out.
  • Plus templates, todos, timelines, lineage trees, node views, content health checks, and a few other tools that came out of this thing escalating way beyond the original idea.

First solo session done - fantastic and defeat!

So finished my first session of Nemesis Retaliation, three handed solo.

Got one marine out via the escape shuttle, completed the objective, killed the queen - 2 dead and one escaped infected so no win.

A lot of fun, and more intense than I thought it would be. Relentless swarms of aliens, brutal attack cards.

Nothing is forgiving in this game, lol.

Thank for all the help I got from you guys, think a lot of your comments kept me alive a lot longer than otherwise. Especially moving cautiously!

Poltergeist is hauntingly brutal

Just finished my two first games with The Poltergeist. 1st game ended quicker than I could setup a plan, 2nd game was a slaughter and then game over.

The speed killing of victims and menace of the terror card was brutal.

But as always a lot of fun. Great and tricky map.

Solo run on Altered Fates - mixed feelings

Second time soloing MoM and tried the Altered Fates dlc for the first time.

Was a slow burning experience with a bit of a quick ending… not sure how I feel about it, lol.

Whats your thoughts on the dlc?

Solo Mansions of Madness in our cabin in the dark Swedish forest

Haven’t played this one solo before (only with the family). Must say I almost enjoy it more solo. Whne playing with a group the app breaks immersion, but solo it kind of adds to it.

First time mixing - Evomorph in Wolfe Asylum

Got totally slaughtered. Had a hard time finding a good weapon and got ambushed with a double attack and a blank last health token.

And I had a awesome Amped card ability, that I never got to use in an attack.

But mixing location and killer was so fun! What’s your favorite remixes?

Haha - a bit disappointed on the Evomorph’s first delivery, killed on three turns.

Well not really but had some random luck. First a setup card placing me in the Armory, then an Event card instructing me to place any weapon on top the item pile in the armory, so got the flamethrower through a search roll on my second turn. Then after the first kill by the Hatchling the ambush card evolved it to an adult and placed it next to me.

After that I got lucky rolls on both Critical blow and Weak attack. Alien went deadsie.

Slaughter at Station 2891 - first time facing the Organism

Damn! That was a great slow build up - and the I was toast. What’s the best strategy for this one?

Killed Dr.Fright with one health left

First time playing Maple Lane and either I did something wrong or I just got lucky with the terror cards. Managed to kill Dr.Fright on the last round before revealing the Finale.

It was a solid playthrough but only ended up sleeping once, and everything went more smoothly than I had expected. But also I was on my absolute last health point myself.

Love this game!

Finally beat Hans - on the 3rd try! What feature to buy now?

What a fantastic game!

Had some struggle to understand the ”right” strategy, but after 2 bloody games I finally beat Hans!

I promised myself not to buy the next festure until the big bad butcher was killed - so now my question is: wich ones to get, thinking about purchasing max 3 new features.

Thanks!

The Food Chain - Finished diorama

So finished my first larger diorama. Still learning so any C&C is welcomed and appreciated!

”The Food Chain”

The small green lizard stared in awe at the fallen blue giant. For generations, the lizard’s kin had followed the great beast, living in his shadow. He had provided protection from larger predators, cooling shade, and his leftovers attracted insects for the lizards to feed on.

Now a new hunter had slain the blue giant after a long and gruesome battle.

“What power he must possess. But will he also provide shelter, or will he simply move on, hunting only for sport?”

The little green lizard wondered to himself as he sat beneath the burning sun.
