Solo travel within US in Oct/Nov

Hey! I am 27M living in the New England area. I work in tech and currently have 15 days of PTO left for this year (which can't be rolled over). I want to do some solo traveling within the US.

I am an avid driver. I love taking my car every now and then to random places. Mountains, beaches, sunsets (<3) excite me a lot. I am also an active hiker, and I did Mt. Washington last summer.

The thing is, my friends don't have vacations and don't want to travel for the rest of the year. I have a lot of vacation left, which I don't want to lose by just sitting at home.

These are the places I've already been to:

  1. All of NH, VT, MA, NY, NJ

  2. Florida (Miami)

  3. California (Yosemite, SF, SJ, LA)

I love to travel and I have a National Park Pass. I've always wanted to visit the National Parks out West, like the Utah Mighty 5, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, etc.

I was thinking of planning a trip for around a week max and exploring a new area. The biggest confusion is where to go, hence this post.

Could you guys please help me figure out what I should do and suggest some interesting plans/itineraries? I am thinking sometime in October/November. I want to keep December for relaxing locally.

I am totally open to flying somewhere and renting a car, or driving if it makes sense. I also don't mind doing a decent amount of hiking, especially if the views are worth it.

Thanks in advance! :)

Reliable brake service near Nashua for 2021 CX-5

Whenever I hit the brakes, the steering wheel starts shaking. It gets way worse at 60-80mph. I can literally feel the vibration.Dealership told you must replace all the 4 rotors as it's corroded heavily. Brake pads look okay but recommended with rotor replacement.

They quoted me $1882 for Front/Rear (All) Brake Pads and Rotors with Brake Flush

Any good local mechanic shops near Nashua/Hudson/surrounding area? I am okay to drive but the shop should be good.

Please give some suggestions. TIA

Mileage: 42k

Edited: Correction: 2023 CX-5

Steering wheel is shaking even with slight braking

Whenever I hit the brakes, the steering wheel starts shaking. It gets way worse at 60-80mph. I can literally feel the vibration.

Dealership told you must replace all the 4 rotors as it's corroded heavily. Brake pads look okay but recommended with rotor replacement.

Front/Rear (All) Brake Pads and Rotors with Brake Flush: $1882

Front/Rear (All) just rotors with Brake Flush: $1332

Is this the normal scenario at dealership? The $$ is insane. Should I get done at a local shop? Will there be any issue if I sell the car in later years if not done replacement at dealership?

Please give some suggestions. TIA

As an H1B visa holder, how are your investment strategies? Do you do only 401k or Roth or both? Need guidance

I need some suggestions/guidance on investing while being on. H1B visa (I-140 not started yet). In 2nd yr of H1B.

Here's my bg: Started earning in 2023 after getting my MS. Currently in $100-120k range. 27M.

I'm putting my money in the following order:

  1. 401k up to the match (7%)

  2. HSA max out

  3. Brokerage

Out of this I have managed to hit $90k in total investments (brokerage being lowest in $18k).

I know I need to pump up money in brokerage because of the uncertainty. But, overall, is this a good strategy and/or do you suggest anything else? If yes, then what?

Thanks!

Hit 100k today! At 27

Alright folks, I feel very happy today as I hit my first $100k on my portfolio. This is not amount invested but the total portfolio value.

Here's my rough breakdown:

Brokerage: $25k

401k Traditional: $60k

HSA: $15k

I am a technology professional in finance earning $100k. Company matches 7%

No major debt. Just car loan, remaining $15k

Any advice on how am I doing? And any changes needed? Imma trying to get more on brokerage to have the liquidity. Overall any advice would be helpful!

Thanks!
