TRDB - Blog System Update

We’re excited to announce that we have added a new blog system to TheRetroDB.com.

Registered users can now create public blog posts about their favourite retro movies, TV shows, and games. Each post can include a title, cover image, category, and a full content body using HTML or Markdown formatting.

Blog posts are publicly viewable by both members and non-members. They are also attributed to the original author and will appear as part of that user’s public profile submissions.

We invite all registered users to start creating blog posts about the games, movies, and TV shows they love, miss, remember fondly, or are still trying to find. This is a great way to share memories, recommendations, reviews, stories, and discoveries with the wider RetroDB community.

Please make sure your blog posts are meaningful and well-written. One-line or low-effort posts may not be accepted. A good blog post should include a relevant cover image and a proper main content body.

All blog posts will go through admin approval before being published. Posts that appear to be 100% AI-generated, spammy, unrelated, or low quality may be declined automatically or by an admin.

Please only create blog posts about games, movies, or TV shows. Posts about unrelated topics will not be approved.

Start sharing the retro content you love with the community today at TheRetroDB.com.

TRDB - The New Home of Retro Movies / TV Shows / Live Channels & Chat

https://reddit.com/link/1ttxr9i/video/3irxan6h4p4h1/player

I have been working on The Retro Database, a platform for people who love old TV shows, movies, games, cartoons, forgotten media, and retro nostalgia in general.

The idea is to create one place where people can browse retro titles, discover content by decade, find watch links where available, and help build out the database with trivia, quotes, videos, facts, and useful links.

One of the bigger features is the live TV section. The site currently has 7 live channels broadcasting 24/7, each with its own live chat, so people can watch retro content together instead of just browsing alone.

There is also a community side to it. Members can post to an activity feed, follow contributions from other users, add friends, customize their profile, choose an avatar, and build up accepted contribution stats over time.

Some of the main features include:

  • Retro TV, movie, and game browsing
  • 7 live channels broadcasting 24/7
  • Live chat for each channel
  • Decade hubs for discovering titles by era
  • Community activity feed
  • User-submitted trivia, facts, quotes, links, and videos
  • Public member profiles
  • Friends system

It is still growing, but the goal is to make it a useful community-driven archive and hangout space for retro entertainment fans, collectors, researchers, and anyone who enjoys rediscovering older media.

Site: https://theretrodb.com

Would appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas from other retro media fans.

I am working hard on this project and have developed tools to help with importing media content on mass where possible. I have created a

  • Chrome extension for faster content importing
  • Imports for TMDB, TheGamesDB, YouTube, and Archive.org and others...

I’ve been building a retro entertainment site and would love some feedback

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a site called TheRetroDB.

It’s a retro entertainment database covering movies, TV shows, games, music, trivia, quotes, streams, watch links, and other nostalgic stuff. The idea is to take data from places like TMDb, IMDb, and game databases, then build on top of it with extra community-driven content.

A few things already live on the site:

There are 7 live 24/7 retro stations, each with its own chatbox, moderation tools, and mobile-friendly layout. I’ve also started adding streams for retro shows and movies from sources like YouTube, Dailymotion, and other supported platforms.

Live stream player p2p support and live chat

Full channel EPG information!

Channel selection popout menu!

You can search for movies by quotes/lines, browse trivia and facts for games and TV shows, and registered users can submit content. Every user gets a public profile showing their contribution stats, so people actually get credit for helping build the archive.

Public user profiles with submission stats!

The site is free to use. There is a premium section planned for the future, but the general site content will always stay free. That would mainly be for things like removing ads later or helping cover running costs/custom content.

I’ve also built some tools behind the scenes, including scripts to help import trivia/facts and a Chrome extension that helps add supported video streams more quickly.

Feel free to check it out: https://theretrodb.com/register

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, ideas, bug reports, or suggestions for what to add next.
