Order of magnitude of the largest prime confirmed before human extinction

Obviously depends on the long term trend of prime discoveries as well as how long we have left. “Order of magnitude” could mean log10(p) or even log10(log10(p))

Wavetale

I just cleared Wavetale off my backlog and am curious if others on here have played/y’all’s thoughts.

Specifically, I was surprised and impressed by the story, which is essentially a YA Bildungsroman about environmental justice, grief, war, and propaganda (with a bit of labor). Sort of Erin Brockovich meets are we the baddies meets Jane Fonda. (With a fair dose of cliche, often-hokey dialogue, and a quasi-lib ending—the capitalist polluter-oppressors come to their senses due to moral suasion, but without any “truth is in the middle” bullshit.) I don’t recall any of the reviews mentioning how political it is?

The game itself is a mixed bag but ultimately enjoyable imo. The core “magic surfing” mechanic is a lot of fun, the art style is mostly good (with the exception of faces, which up close do not look good at all), and the soundtrack is lovely. Gameplay is quite simple and very repetitive, and the difficulty level is generally very low (speaking as an Extremely Mediocre Gamer). The exception being frustrating boss fights due mostly to fighting with the camera and unclear objectives. And again, the dialogue is sometimes stilted, and the story has some cliches—it’s YA lit.

Overall I feel like it’s a good choice for a pre-teen with a budding interest in politics, who likes 3D adventures but is not very skilled. And it’s often on sale for ~$5.

But I’m curious if others feel differently!

Hot take: The trash revolution was (in principle) Good political theater

Obligatory disclaimer: Eric Adams is a morally bad and extremely weird person. This post is not an endorsement of the man, his policies, his crimes, or his execution, delivery or performance. I’m also leaving aside the substantive question of whether trash bins are workable in NYC.

But. The event was a fundamentally good idea.

Here’s an extremely well-known problem that isn’t at the center of the Discourse, but meaningfully harms quality of life and probably isn’t great for public health. Everybody else has a pretty obvious solution, but for whatever reason the western hemisphere’s flagship metropolis continues a bizarre and disgusting weekly ritual.

Presenting… the obvious solution everybody else has been doing for many years!

The dramatic reveal with music and over-the-top (and obviously silly) theatricality is fundamentally sound!

I think that if Mamdani had done it, people would have loved it, and they would have been right.

To be clear: Fuck Eric Adams.

My body is a massive organization and I am the failson CEO

Not high, but this feels like the right place.

This guy thinks he runs the place but he has no operational knowledge. Put him in a kidney and see how long he lasts. He’d be dead in a day.

Sir, there’s an issue with the microbiome contracts. Are you up to speed, or do you need a briefing?

Challenging small nonograms?

I just discovered nonograms (thanks to r/ninigrams) and I’m hoping to find a good source of more-difficult but smallish nonograms. I downloaded nonogram.com on my phone, and the “hard” category seems to be defined just as 15x15, often with multiple rows/columns fully or near-fully filled in. The one time I tried “expert,” they were just bigger, which doesn’t really work on my phone screen. I’ve found that occasionally Ninigrams manage to present a meaningful challenge on a small board (under 15x15, sometimes even under 10x10). But I’ve now played through their whole archive.

Grateful for any help!
