OB's at Joe Brant

Hey, newer mom's of Reddit... need some help/advice.

So I just found out that even though I’ve spent month's building a relationship with an OB, that there is a VERY small chance she is going to be the one delivering my baby. That basically when you get to the hospital you get whomever is on call that day.

As someone who has not had even 1 single good experience with this hospital, I was kind of banking on being able to rely on the Dr. I've built a relationship with and that i could trust HER, even if I don't trust the hospital. But now thats right out the window.

Are there any doctors that, if they are on call that day, I should turn around and go to a different hospital? Any who force their opinions on to their patients? Any who you had AMAZING experiences with? DM me if you dont want to share publicly. Please help me, I am 4 weeks from my due date and FREAKING OUT.

Memory care home - elder financial abuse

My mom is living in a memory care home, moved in at the end of June. She was assessed as needing "level 1 care" which in addition to the $8000 a month lease is another $56 dollars per day. The home has reported to me that they will need to move my mom up to level two care because the level one care package only includes one hour of care per day. I have reviewed the lease as well as the care plan that they have provided extensively, and nowhere in there does it state that there is only one hour of care being provided daily. They have also confirmed in writing that their care package does not state this explicitly.

The level two care more than doubles, the cost of level one care and in the level two care plan they have made my mom sound like a danger. This is due to them reporting to me that there have been three alleged incidents between my mom and another resident, though even with their small staff to resident ratio ALL 3 "incidents" were unwitnessed, and as there are no cameras in the units they have no proof.

They are now demanding that I provide 24 hour PSW support for her, which runs at around $30 per hour, something that is WELL outside her budget because the staff feels "unsafe" dealing with an 80 year old, frail and confused dementia patient. What legal recourse do I have to not only keep her living in that residence, but also have them to continue caring for her at the rate that has been agreed upon without needing additional 24 hour a day PSW support.

Dad kangaroo shirt

I keep seeing advertisements for the dad kangaroo shirts, which I would love to get for my husband BUT I am hoping to get some unbiased, (i.e.not purchased) ratings and reviews of these t shirts if possible.. have any of you tried these, or your husbands?

Paying yourself as POA

I am the power of attorney for both of my parents. I have been advised by their lawyer that I should be paying myself as their power of attorney and I'm not quite sure how to go about that.

There's lots of details online about what percentage you are able to pay out, but not really much on how to do it.

- Is the amount per person or per the estate total?

- Do I just withdraw the money and keep a record of why it was withdrawn?

Bioactive tank setup for 1 month - how do i know if its ready for my snake to move in?

I have setup a bioactive tank about a month ago.. live plants (snake safe dracennea, moss, and pothos), springtails, and isopods. Also a hammock, climbing rings, a nice big bark climbing thing (purchased from a reptile show so I know its safe) and multiple hides.

I've been maintaining a solid heat and humidity level. I cant find a lot of the isopods I put in there, but I imagine they are hiding in the shaded areas..

What else do I need to check before moving my snake in there?

Parents with Dementia evicted from assisted living on their move in day

Both of my parents have varying degrees of dementia. I was advised by the independent living facility where they were living since September that they were no longer able to keep them in residence because my mom was causing disturbances with other residents.

I took them to tour and have an assessment performed on them last Friday, during the assessment my mom was very agitated and kept trying to leave. Regardless they said they would be able to move in to the assisted living floor, however made it clear to me that this was not a locked floor. That she could participate in all of the activities, under supervision, but did NOT make it clear that the supervision would need to be hired separately by myself.

When I moved them to the new assisted living facility, just yesterday, my mom was having trouble adjusting to the move. She was very agitated and kept trying to leave the building to "go home". She said if we were trying to lock her up then she might as well just kill herself. The nurse was walking with her to try to prevent her from leaving and eventually called the police to have her brought to the hospital. The hospital checked her out and attempted to release her last night, however the facility has advised she is not welcome back there. They've told me they are attempting to find other accommodations for her, but so far have not provided any options.

Add to this, my house is under extreme renovations right now and I dont have the ability to take her in. Even if I could, and I did once a few weeks ago before the renos started, I also had to call the police because she was attempting to walk "home" to the place that evicted her. I am also pregnant and im honestly afraid she might hit my stomach or cause a stress induced miscarriage.

What legal recourse can I take? Can I force the assisted living facility to accept her back? Can *I* be charged, as her POA, with abandonment for not picking her up from the hospital? The old place wont take her back, and the new place lasted less than 3 hours before they threw her out. I am looking for other accommodation in a memory care home, but as its the weekend I am having difficulties reaching anyone at the multiple places I have called.

Bioactive -adding plants

I am planning on setting up my bioactive terrarium this month and I've bought a few plants to go in there (dracenea and pothos).

Do I need to remove all of the dirt from the plants before planting in the terrarium? Also is it better to plant directly into the substrate or have them potted? I've seen examples of both and im not sure which way is better
