My listening lounge got some upgrades.

I’ve been upgrading my listening set up over the past few months and I’m really happy with what I’ve got.

Speakers are 1989 Sony SS TL-5’s. Despite Sony’s poor reputation, these things are a serious contender! I upgraded from a pair of bookshelf pioneer speakers and can already hear a massive upgrade in sound fidelity.

The turntable is a Fosi Luna 3. It’s nothing too fancy but it gets the job done better than my previous audio technica.

The receiver is a 1980’s JVC R-X300. This thing punches way above its weight and certain does better with my Sony’s compared to my newer Denon that I swapped out. I’m currently working on tuning it but have little experience with this. Using Steely Dan’s Aja as my go-to tuning piece. Let me know if you have any pointers for tuning.

Ultimately, I’d love to have a HiFi room in my home so I’m slowly upgrading and swapping things here and there. I think a new cartridge is the next logical step.

Curious to hear your thoughts on my set up and how to move forward with the hobby!

Cheers!

33M | Wrestling Coach & Special Ed Teacher | Looking for Protocol Feedback: Recovery, Recomp, Performance

Background

33 year old male, high school teacher and wrestling coach with about 22 years behind me. My body reflects it…Chronic hip pain from a partial labrum tear, general accumulated ache from years of grappling, and a previous whiplash/concussion. Not complaining, just context.

Currently wrapping up the school year and taking a deliberate rest block. Once summer hits I'm going back to a structured 4-day lifting program built around wrestling-specific movement patterns, biking for cardio, and yoga at least twice a week for mobility and recovery. Wrestling season prep is the north star.

Current Protocol:

Running CJC-1295 No DAC / Ipamorelin at 125mcg each, timed around sleep. Keeping it simple for now — primarily targeting recovery, sleep quality, and some passive recomp. Not trying to force anything during the rest block.

What's Worked:

\- CJC/Ipa stack has noticeably improved sleep depth and morning recovery feel

\- Manual therapy and PT

\- Consistent diet and nutrition

\- Infrared sauna and yoga have been the most underrated tools for managing the hip and general inflammation

\- Structured deload periods (like now) have helped more than grinding through fatigue

What Hasn't worked:

\- Trying to recomp aggressively while coaching full-time is unrealistic… Stress load is too high

\- Ignoring the hip and just pushing through has always backfired

\-BPC 157- noticed negative cognitive side effects.

What I'm Considering Adding:

Looking at stacking in a few things once the summer training block starts:

\- TB-500: primarily for the labrum and chronic hip. Have heard good things for soft tissue. Open to dosing feedback.

\- Retatrutide: interested in the recomp/fat loss angle. I'm carrying more than I want right now ("thick" is the polite word). Want to lean out without tanking performance or muscle. Would love real-world experience here, not just the clinical data.

\- NAD: thinking about this as a subtle performance/sharpness aid once school starts back up and cognitive load spikes again. Coach brain + teacher brain simultaneously is real.

---

Questions:

  1. Retatrutide experience at lower doses for recomp without aggressive weight loss? I want to stay functional and strong, not just drop weight.

  2. NAD: for cognitive sharpness: is this actually worth it or am I better off just optimizing the CJC/Ipa timing?

  3. Any sequencing advice: run TB-500 first before layering in Reta, or is concurrent fine?

  4. For the labrum/soft tissue: is TB-500 the right call

Appreciate any real feedback. Not looking to blast anything — just trying to stay durable, perform well on the mat, and be sharp for my athletes and students.

---

*Stats: 33M, active lifestyle, \~4 days lifting + yoga + biking. Coaching/teaching full-time. Goals: injury rehab, wrestling/ teaching performance, recomp as a byproduct of training smart.
