Was John Blade’s backstory from the SiN anime in the games at all?

This is about SiN but I wasn’t sure where to ask since there isn’t a SiN sub as far as I’m aware. So I’m asking here because of the remaster Nightdive’s doing. Also the SiN wiki sucks.

In the SiN anime/OVA they go into Blade’s backstory a little. His dad had mob ties that he used to get his son cybernetic implants after John got into an accident. I think they imply John started as a small-time criminal before becoming a cop.

I’m not sure if any of this stuff was in the games. Did they make all of it up? The anime isn’t the best and takes a lot of liberties (JC dies at the beginning for some reason). But I do like how they tried to humanize Blade more and get into his history. The ending fights are pretty badass too.

Does anyone build mini “shrines”?

Like a little private place where you live with little figures/statues, art, plants and rocks. Was thinking about making something like that where I could pray and put some of my shitty spiritual drawings. I could water the plants every day and stuff. Obviously a small, private place that you wouldn’t show people. Not sure if this is an Animist thing but if anyone does something like I’m talking about I’d like to hear about it so I could get some ideas.

Pinterest is going downhill

I use Pinterest to save art and fanart for stuff I like since I don’t have a lot of storage on my phone. I always liked the board feature and how you could save stuff from different websites. But man I feel like it’s going downhill and it’s only gonna get worse.

The flagging and removal of Pins by Pinterest is insane. I swear a lot of it is just bot removal. I feel like every few days I check Pinterest they removed another Pin I saved. And I can’t even tell what the image is they removed or save it myself because they blur it and eventually remove the image entirely. I save some suggestive stuff because I’m into the biomechanical/biopunk style and old fantasy art. But my profile and all my boards are private. Also I’m not saving anything pornographic, and I feel like most art should be allowed on the platform for people to see as long as it isn’t legitimate NSFW (gore, porn, etc.). Pinterest wasn’t made for kids.

The “AI Modified” tag is bullshit. There’s tons of obvious AI generated images that don’t get tagged. But then they’ll tag some art you’ve seen before. I feel like most platforms are drowning in AI generated content including Pinterest, but most of it gets off Scot-free.

It seems like there’s way more ads than before. Usually every few Pins on the app feed is an ad (or at least that’s how it feels). Also the search results seem to be inaccurate sometimes. Results might be recycled or completely unrelated to what you’re looking for so it’s better to just google and save from the images there.

This has been an issue for a while but it can be hard to find the name of the artist who created what you’re looking at. This isn’t necessarily Pinterest’s fault; usually the accounts who post stuff publicly. I feel like if you’re posting other people’s art with the intention of getting clout, you need to have a link to the original art or shout out the person who made it so people can find them. This is an issue with most social media now; similar to Instagram and Tik Tok users stealing and reposting videos without credit.

I know this would never happen but I low-key would love if Yamada Akihiro did in-game art for a main FE game

Seeing his stuff in Heroes made me love this dude‘s style. It’s just so intricate and textured, and I love how he seems to still do it traditionally with all that painstaking detail.

I know it’s not the style FE usually goes for so it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But man I love how it looks. Reminds me of old sword and sorcerery book art like Frank Frazetta. That grainy watercolor look.

I could see him doing the art for like a re-re-remake of FE1. Drawing Marth with his old design where he was half naked with all the straps and sandals and stuff. Even if he doesn’t do character portraits let this guy cook up some monsters or something.

Letting ya’ll know this is an actual scam; these games are not rare

You could find a copy of 64 3D before the announcement for $30-50, less for the Nintendo Selects. I got Assault 1-2 years ago for around $50. Adventures wasn’t too bad either. These games, especially 64 3D (which was mass produced with the Nintendo Selects label) are not rare games and shouldn’t be going for this much because of “perceived value”. Assault and Adventures also had Greatest Hits releases.

You‘ll find now that after a new game is announced for a series, or that game comes out, the other games in that series balloon in price on digital marketplaces. I understand that there is more demand after an announcement, but these price hikes are insane and unaffordable. I see it as scalping and these sellers are using a scummy practice.

For those wanting to get these games I’d recommend not buying them at these prices; although I can’t stop anyone lol. Lowball sellers, wait for the price to drop, or emulate and mod your systems to play the games for free. Also try looking at brick and mortar game stores (though sometimes they charge a lot too depending on the game).

Assuming Sakamoto produces the next Metroid game, do you think he could cook up a solid story? I look at Sakamoto’s big games and I think that this man wants to tell a story. I don’t think I’m offending anyone by saying these games don’t have a great track record for amazing narrative. But I see so much potential and moments of greatness.

Looking back to my memories of playing Fusion as a kid, what stands out is how some of those story moments really shocked me and made me want to find out what would happen next. Fusion is campy as hell but it makes me FEEL something. The story has heart and it convinced me games could do story like movies could as a kid. I like how the event system integrates the gameplay with the story. I would love to see something like that, but less corny and with the map-progression/exploration of Super.

I haven’t played Famicom Detective Club or Emio but for once in his career Sakamoto was getting genuine praise for the storytelling there. It makes me want to check those games out (especially Emio cause that advertising was awesome). The remake for FDC brought a lot of attention to the quality of those games outside Japan. And then Nintendo let the man make his sequel decades later with Emio.

With Other M he tried to tell his big Metroid story. I want to see him get another chance honestly.
