Hi! I am a single mom (not by choice) to a beautiful 15 month old conceived with donor sperm. I absolutely want to tell her everything I know in age appropriate way. To that end, last September 18 (the day the embryo was transferred through ivf), I read her a kids story about a kid with two moms (which she had at the time) and a baby conceived through ivf with donor sperm and then told her a simplified version of events (which she obviously did not understand). My plan is to make September 18 [Name] day and make it like a second birthday where we celebrate her and also make sure to talk about how she got her with the details increasing as she gets older. Obviously this is going to be an ongoing discussion not limited to once a year, but i do think that this tradition will at least ensure that no more than one year can go by without revisiting the topic. Thoughts on this from the community would be super welcomed! Thank you!

Im biglaw. I was married to a woman who walked out a month after I came back from maternity leave. Didn't want to be a parent after all so I have baby 24/7. We are doing great with a nanny but, like, how does this work? I've never seen a single full time single mom crush biglaw. Seriously, I cannot name one in my city, firm, or practice area. They have to be out there, right? RIGHT?

My ex came and picked up the last of her stuff today. Back in November she left me and our six month old daughter for a meth head she moved into my basement without my knowledge. Today she told me she wasn't sorry that things ended up this way, just how it happened. She signed over custody of our daughter and we are just waiting on the divorce to be final. Property is already divided. I am in the middle of moving to a new house. I dont think i will ever see her again and our conversation will be limited to our mutual obligation to update each other as required in the custody agreement. If you had told me a year ago this is where id be I never would have believed it. But here we are.
