What should be done with kalasha water?

What should be done with kalasha water?

With Varalakshmi vratham approaching on the 21st, I'm wondering:

What is done with the water in the kalasham. In some temples I've seen them sprinkle the water on the devotees. Some people say that it should be poured into a tulsi?

Genuinely curious, what is to be done in the case of a home pooja

What is the purpose of abishekam? ( Artwork by me )

I don't know the reason behind abishekam, and with the antiquity of our beliefs I think there may not be a solid answer.

I personally think the reason is :

Many of the items we use in abishekam such as milk, honey etc. I think would have been much harder to get ( especially in large quantities ). So I think our ancestors bathed the gods in these to show devotion.

I also assume that there is some idea about the preservation of the idols themselves.

Im assuming my ideas are heavily flawed, please feel free to correct and educate me.

Whatwhoch way would you choose to die? ( Torturous edition )

Options:

Prion disease

Furious rabies

The bubonic plague/black death

Dimethyl mercury poisoning ( look it up )

Unit 731

Demon core criticality exposure ( acute radiation sickness )

Leopard seal attack ( playfully drag you under the water, allow you to rise, and just before you reach the surface they drag you back down [ context: they do do that, it has happened to a person who didn't survive and they can be 12 feet long ] until you drown or they kill you another way )

Indian architecture isn't talked about enough and it's a shame

" but it's made of bricks and stuff, anybody can do that! "

No they cannot

The Kailasa temple in the Ellora caves is a monolith. For those who don't know, IT IS 1 STONE. they carved the whole temple out of a basalt cliff.

It's genuinely impressive that the ancient builders were able to pull this off 1200 YEARS AGO.

I wish out world was full of architecture like this. Beautiful buildings that actually don't look like a quadrilateral. But that is just the reality of the world isn't it...

Indian architecture ( and south asian architecture in general ) needs the recognition it deserves.

Im conflicted on what I should do

I come from a Brahmin family and I'm 15, and I've not gotten my upanayana done yet.

I don't know if I want to get it done either

One one side I feel like I'll let my family down, as if I do t get it done I break the family lineage, and I won't be able to study scripture.

On the other hand I do t want to have a big pooja/celebration for it. I don't want to have to invite 50 people and I am extremely introverted, so that's a big no for me.

Idk wat to do. Is it compulsory to get it done, will I get any dosha or bad luck if I don't get it done?

What ca I and cannot do if I don't get it done?

EMBRACE YOUR CULTURE

As time goes on I feel like people are slowly disconnecting with their family roots and their culture

Embrace and celebrate your culture ( unless it harms yourself or other people ofc )

The song is Chandrachooda, composed by legendary poet Purandaradasa, widely considered the father of carnatic music in india.

Do all Brahmins HAVE to get their upanayana done? ( Bonus art of Ganapathi I just finished )

Im 15, and according to my dad ( who is a Brahmin ) I should have gotten my upanayana by now. Idk how to feel. Im not against it. My dad isn't forcing me but I still am unsure. Is is necessary for all Brahmins, like is there a scripture that says so?

Also my artwork is in the first page of my new sketchbook. I always begin them with drawing him.

The first dosa anybody will make is always a sacrifice..

The first dosa will always come out looking like it survived chernobyl, but it really is just the sacrificial dosa. This is necessary so the pan will be happy and not destroy the other dosas.

Why do people not prefer homes of this style anymore?

Im far too young to think of owning property ( and by the time I think owning land will cost more than my kidneys, liver, eyes, lungs and heart combined ) but I dream of having a house like this. I will of course have updated appliances, but I want it to be as integral to the style as possible. Wood stoves, beautiful Courtyard etc. etc. idk if it's nostalgia ( with my grandparents hobe being this style ) or my love for the craftsmanship or both, but I can't stop dreaming of owning such a home with my future family. Im genuinely curious why people don't build or own such homes anymore

Hear me out :

If y'all have read even a sliver of indian history, you would have heard of the looting of temples. With this comes the looting of idols. Currently, there have been several proven ( some fairly recent ) idol thefts. Those very idols, instead of being worshipped and placed where they belong are kept in some millionaires warehouse as an investment. It disgusts me on how the government does little to no action on the issue of stolen items. And not only idols, weapons, gold, jewels etc.

I propose an idea. Once proven that an idol belongs to a specific temple, the government should at least attempt to re- procure it.

Gotta look pretty for the ladies

Yes, that is in fact a whole ass peacock on a coconut tree. The surprising facts is that they have been found up there several times and idk how they even get up there. In fact, he wasn't even alone! He was with his mate.

How can we make our world more elephant friendly?

Our rapidly changing world has become less and less about co-existence and more about dominance. Relocating, though possible is extremely difficult.

Do y'all think it is possible for elephants and humans to co-exist? And is it possible to make towns and villages elephant friendly with minimal impact? What ideas do you guys have?

Idk if this is sacreligious but that aside, im getting way too emotionally connected to my tea pet

I have made a post about jumbo ( btw this is jumbo everyone say hi ) eons ago. Ever since then, I've been running a bit low on some of my savings ( im 15 ) so I couldn't buy any good tea. Recently my parents got some accomplishments and decided to celebrate. They got me some good whole leaf green tea. I immediately broke out the tea set and made a fresh steep after almost 4 months. I felt so bad for jumbo that I kept sneaking tea and then I thought " well jumbo is an elephant and he does love plants " so I thought what the hell and bathed him in the steeped tea leaves. He is currently chilling in a small victorious pile of them. Im in far too deep please help 🥹

Btw the green tea was nice and refreshing

Anybody knows where I can get a chennamane board in mangalore

I have been wanting to play chennamane for a while ( mostly nostalgia ). I want preferably a solid board, not one foldable one. Not ok crazy about designs or carvings. Can anyone give a place which sells something along the lines of what I said at a reasonable cost? Or a place to get one made?
