Anyone know if Wise Cashback option in the EU constitutes holding a PFIC?
I am a US citizen residing in Italy and hold $, € and £ currencies with WISE based in Belgium. A cashback option is available wherein interest is paid on a weekly basis. Cash balances are invested in global equities simular to a mutual fund. If I enable this feature, will it evoke PFIC reporting requirements when filing US tax returns?
US Expat in the EU holding WISE interest bearing accounts in $, € & £.
Aside from reporting interest when filing US taxes, is there any other consideration/downside in enabling this option. Does this evoke PFIC reporting?
