Govt. is hell bent on kicking retail out of F&O

I’ve been into option selling lately and developed an automated system so I don't constantly check the margins used/available on the system, and since I trade indices with sufficient margin, I didn’t pay much attention to the changes around single-stock derivatives.

Only last night did I realise SEBI has now removed margin benefits even for index spreads on expiry.

I have sufficient margin and a properly hedged spread, yet we’re still being forced to keep huge amounts of extra capital to cover ELM on expiry days now.

Every small benefit is being stripped away, making it harder to scale a system that already plays by the rules. Extremely frustrating.

Taking away leverage from a business is the best way to kill it. A good trader could have generated good profits before all the regulations that came in post-covid. Now even if you have the skills, you can't do much.

No wonder FIIs aren’t looking at India.

Peak regulatory irony 🤡

SEBI introduced CAS before the market had the infrastructure and liquidity depth to support it.

Now they're asking brokers to bring back retail participation to improve liquidity.

So... retail is too risky when restrictions need to be imposed, but suddenly essential when liquidity dries up?

Like I said - it is run by absolute clowns

SEBI is run by absolute clowns.

The new CAS system is complete shithousery.

Just look at the number of pointless changes they've shoved down everyone's throat over the last 2-3 years. Lot sizes changed multiple times. Expiry days changed. Weekly expiries removed. Bank Nifty weekly expiry, the GOAT, got taken out. And now this CAS nonsense.

Every single time it's sold as "protecting retail traders." What an absolute joke.

I haven't lost a single rupee because of the last two days. That's not even the point.

Instead of making Indian markets more competitive, more efficient, and more attractive globally, they're busy introducing arbitrary changes that make the entire ecosystem worse.

They can't compete at global standards, so instead they're turning the Indian markets into horseshit while pretending it's for investor protection.

Complete clowns.

Genuine question for CAs: why do so many firms still prefer offline software?

Most CAs I've spoken to prefer offline software because they don't want sensitive client data sitting in the cloud.

What I don't understand is the other side of it.

What happens if a hard drive fails during peak filing season? Or a system gets corrupted? Or someone accidentally deletes data, or you have to travel and can't access your office system?

Genuinely curious what makes offline the preferred choice despite these tradeoffs.

The panel that started one of anime's biggest misquotes.

Reached this chapter today and immediately heard "It's Over 9000!!" in my head anyway

Question for CAs and GST practitioners here

https://reddit.com/link/1v49x0w/video/cnsrcu9mhyeh1/player

I spoke to roughly 200 tax professionals in the past month to identify a problem to solve with technology. I honestly expected AI, tax research, and return preparation to dominate every conversation., but tracking GST notices across a large client base, kept coming up repeatedly.

Was a lil unexpected but also a sign, so I decided to build around that workflow first (video attached).

I'm curious if this matches your experience, or if our sample was biased.

We built a GST notice management system after talking to 200+ CAs

We're building software for Indian tax professionals and started by interviewing practitioners instead of writing code.

The biggest pain point we found wasn't filing returns. It was repeatedly logging into GST portals to check notices across multiple clients.

This is our first implementation of a possible solution - https://saralkar.softwired.in/

Surprisingly we already have pilot from 5 CA firms. Would love your feedback and thoughts

One thing we kept hearing from CAs was surprisingly consistent:

"Checking whether a client has received a GST notice is still a manual job."

Most firms either log into every GST portal periodically or wait for clients to forward notices, which isn't ideal when deadlines are involved.

Over the past few weeks, we've been building a workflow that aggregates notices, due dates, and statuses into a single dashboard.

Here's a short walkthrough of what we've built so far - https://saralkar.softwired.in/

Still very early, but we have surprisingly landed pilot with 5 CA firms

Managing GST notices at scale is surprisingly painful

https://reddit.com/link/1uyro3j/video/0bm0yqskgqdh1/player

Handling GST notices for a handful of clients is manageable, but handling them across 20-30+ GST registrations is a completely different problem. Most of the time seems to go into logging into portals just to check whether anything new has shown up.

I tried mapping out a workflow to make this process less repetitive and built something out of it. I'd love to know if this actually reflects how firms work today, or if I'm overlooking something obvious.

Would appreciate feedback from CAs and GST practitioners who've dealt with this at scale.

Will Whatsapp ban me for broadcasting to my leads?

I have a list of leads and want to send them a link to my SaaS demo.

Cold email hasn't been very effective, and my target customers are active on WhatsApp. I'm thinking of saving their numbers as contacts and sending a broadcast message.

Could this get my WhatsApp account banned or flagged for spam? I know the proper approach is the WhatsApp Business API, but I can't afford it right now.

How are practicing CAs managing gst notices?

A friend of mine works as an article under a tax lawyer who manages over 300 clients.
My friend wastes mostly his entire weekend logging into each of the clients gst portal and check notices or any notice updates.

Any good tool that you guys are using to manage these notices?
