Is mythic gme 2 suitable only for certain kind of gameplay?

I have practically read Mythic GME 2e from cover to cover and redoing it again. Now to my understanding, Mythic can be used with your ruleset as a stand-in for a GM. I can kinda see where this would fit in but I was wondering it fits certain rulesets more than others?

For example, I have used OSE as a base. In OSE hex crawl and dungeon crawl are some of the main activities and its procedures are well defined. Encounters are so well defined by way of tables. NPC reactions and whether or not monsters fight or run away are very well defined via the morale rules. Now with that in mind, where should mythic be utilised to its fullest? Is there a mismatch with the use of OSE with Mythic? Am I better off using a different system and playing differently?

Now my other question is, what is the ultimate setup that uses mythic GME 2e + crafters or variants? I have read using Mythic with Adventure Crafter but I am curious what setup will be equivalent of "Going Full GURPS" with Mythic?

I want to go full on Mythic and its crafters and I would like to know how best it is to utilise the GME to its fullest potential along with the crafters. I feel like I am missing either some fundamentals of solo RPG or a mismatch of Mythic and rulesets or my style of play. I want to make Mythic click for me because I can kinda see its pros but can't take advantage of it in practice.

What should I expect coming from OSR jumping into MorkBorg? (engaging with it mainly in a solo capacity).

I have always tried my best to stay away from MorkBorg despite it being tempting. I feel that I have invested so much in OSR mainly in OSE and DCC plus the other odd systems here are there that are light on rules like ICRPG and Cairn.

I ordered the main Mork Borg, Cult, Feretory, and the GM screens. I plan to give this a shot since I see way too many people sing praises for the borg systems.

Now my questions would be:

How is Mork Borg solo? Do I need some Mork Borg specialised content to solo it or the usual Mythic GME2, Game Master Apprentice Cards, and other solo tools? I have heard of Solitary Defilement and it seems that physical copies are non-existent and my options are either to grab it and sent it to the printers or print it myself (I am scared how much ink this will require since it doesn't seem to be printer friendly). Also is there the one and only version of it or is there a newer one now?

How far off is Mork Borg from the typical OSR rpgs? I have mostly offshoots of B/X, BECMI, Odnd and whatnot with some odd ones like Dungeon Crawl Classics,Shadowdark, Cairn, and ICRPG. How complicated is MorkBorg? How easy/difficult is it to roll characters? How useable is the ruleset to play adventures in OSR?

I have a lot of OSR bestiaries, mainly stuff like Monster Overhaul, DCC Dungeon Denizens, Monstrosities, etc. and I am curious how difficult would it be to adapt creatures to and from Mork Borg? I am a bit concerned if Mork Borg creatures require more work like Dragonbane for example that seem to need an attack table.

Thank you in advance for any response and I do apologise for the long list of questions. I am just waiting for my books to come and I can't think of what to expect from it but also excited to see it after hearing so many good things about it.

Given a tiny box, what solo rpg tools would you pick and what is one ruleset/resource would you pair it with as your desert island solo rpg kit?

I was wondering if you are given a tiny box as big as this little gloomhaven box, what tools will you pack and what rpg resources will you pick that would be your desert island solo rpg kit?

I want to see what rpg stuff that you have that are tiny and yet gives so much gameplay.

Do you have any tips for Cairn 2e mapping for people who can't draw?

I really suck at drawing and I think I managed to follow through with the Warden's guide on how to setup a map up to the initial set of point of interests/locations.

Now my questions are:

Do you have any tips for people who suck at drawing on how best to create maps for cairn that is a rough abstraction of the locations.

How can I add any new location in a map after the initial creation?

Is there a way to utilize Cairn 2e's great mapping table but in a procedural sandbox exploration kinda way?

Question about the Thracian Dice: Azure Swirl vs Smoky Sacrifice

I just want to ask you guys a question. So I ordered from a local shop online that had the "Thracian Smoky Sacrifice" dice listed as similar to the one on the screenshot (reddit is fiddly with photos so I screenshot one from another site not the seller). I got sent the dice pictured above which looks to be the "Thracian Azure Swirl" dice but labeled as the smoky sacrifice.

I was wondering if there is a mixup, is it a faulty batch or something? I did contact the seller and hopefully they would get it sorted since I would really want the smoky sacrifice pictured above instead.

Elric of Melnibone Gollancz edition missing Elric:Making of a Sorcerer?

I bought this Gollancz paperback version of Elric of Melnibone and other stories and on page 31 there is a title page of 'Elric: Making of a Sorcerer. A graphic novel drawn by Walter Simonson' but the pages are blank. Is this a known issue of this edition? The photo shows that it just skips. I just want to know if this is as intended or I have a copy that isn't good.

Question about dice and DCC

Hello guys. I wanted to get into DCC and been intimidated about the dice chains. I had the option to get the funky + regular 9 set off a local shop but was browsing Amazon and I saw the half a pound dice was on for roughly the same amount as the funky+regular set. I was wondering with the luck that I have with what came with the pound, do I have enough to cover the dice chain?

My other question would be, coming from more BX/BECMI/OSE kinda background, is there anything I should be aware if I am shifting to DCC? I also got a copy of Dungeon Denizens and my current concern is how convertible are the BX/BECMI content to DCC and vice versa? I am sitting on some Mega Dungeons that are more OSR(Arden Vul, Gunderholfen, Stone Hell, Barrowmaze, etc) and I am wondering how difficult would it be to play on DCC instead?

Today I learned that you can use your MTG life counters to track dungeon turns

I hadn't played MTG in a while and I was thinking of how to track my dungeon turns if I play solo on the go. I found out that I can easily slip the bottom counter that comes free with commander decks in my notebook and count dungeon turns then. If n % 2 == 0 then you check for wandering monster, if n % 6 == 0 then you must relight your torches or rest. The downside of the bottom one is it only goes to 40 but there are only 24 hours in a day so you can probably mark the day somewhere or you can use 2 of it. The top one goes to 99 and might be great as a combat round counter.

So if you have anyone you know who plays/collects MTG or you can ask your local game store, they might have one of these bottom counters lying around. The top one came from a bundle pack though so they might not want to part with it.

Training for Arden Vul. Trying to solo these 3 but unsure which ruleset to use or which adventure to do first. Any advice?

I have heard stories of the legendary Arden Vul. I want to be ready to tackle it should the time come. I have amassed a few adventures and rulesets here. I was wondering if you guys have any advice for me on which adventure is best for me to take first or in general how to parse these dungeon/mega dungeon books? I have no experience running an adventure and I shall undergo this adventure solo.

Also to anyone with experience with Caverns of Thracia, I only managed to secure the 5e conversion, is it going to be hard for me to play it using OSE or BX / BECMI?

I am also torn between OSE/BX vs BECMI. I only know of the thief's stretched out progression for BECMI. I kinda wanna do BECMI but BX and through OSE it is easier to get information at a glance compared to parsing through the rules cyclopedia. Is there anything else I should be aware of if I decide to either BECMI from the start or just shift to BECMI once I cappes out on OSE or BX?

A question about encumberance and containers for B/X or OSE

I currently want to track encumberance by using coin weight and my issue was OSE basic didn't have a full list of coin weight for each item. This was alleviated by getting the Old School Armory book and now my issue is what exactly is the purpose and how does containers like sacks and backpacks interact with counting coin weights? How do I determine how much someone can hold? An alternative system was proposed in both Carcass Crawler 2 supplement and Old School armory where slots are used but I am confused as to how containers play into those.

I would like to ask, do you guys have any good tips to tracking encumberance and making it not a pain to track?

Question about Barrowmaze and its maps.

I got a question for those who have bought Barrowmaze off DTRPG, I was wondering if the Barrowmaze Complete POD includes a separate map? I bought the monochrome edition instead of the regular complete edition and I don't know if there should be a map to go along with it?

If not, I plan to print it myself off the pages of the pdf, is there a way to print the maps without wasting too much ink since the white bits of the dungeon occupies less part on paper?

Just got my Tome of Horrors and Monstrosities book. Any other great OSR compatible monster manuals I should look out for? Any cool monster hunting solo campaign ideas?

I am so happy to get my copy of Tome of Horrors Complete and Monstrosities. So far I am loving what I have seen from my initial skimming of the books.

You guys got some fun ideas for a monster hunting campaign? I think I should have more than enough monsters here but I am always on the look out for some awesome monster manuals especially on the last few hours of DTRPG's monster manual sale.

I have been having some sort of success with my OSE dungeon crawls using mainly the basic rules tome + Axebane's deck of many dungeon. The way I do it is:

  1. lay out axebane's cards as per instructions, ignore any prompts from axebane's and use it only for the geomorphs.

  2. Adventurers start at the entrance, as I enter the room I roll on the Dungeon Design table from basic OSE where based on a d6 roll you determine the room type (basically just empty ,monster, special, traps).

  3. Roll on appropriate tables (for monsters and treasures) or fill in traps and special rooms.

  4. Time is being tracked as per the OSE rule of 1 turn = 10 minutes, torches last 6 turns, wandering monsters every 2 turns, etc.

  5. Experience rewarded based on treasures found as per OSE rules. I currently run a magic-user, a dwarf, cleric, and a fighter with a "squad" of fighters hired by the magic user. The squad is a group of 4 fighters with uniform equipment, gets a part of the gold divided by 2 as both their payment and shared experience.

  6. In the event of a monster encounter, I roll for how far the monsters are, how they will react, and if it is aggressive, I move to combat. Any encounters with a humanoid that is a playable class, I try to create a story reason if they are not aggressive (elves looking for magic item that involves their religious rite or a bunch of non-aggressive veterans are stopping my low level party from going to the more dangerous levels).

Now so far I have been able run it but I have a few issues that I wish some of you guys could share some ideas on how I can improve it I have quite a variety of resources but if you can give some suggestions on resources I would prefer if they are more in line with OSR/OSE design philosophy. I also would like to limit the resources to as little additional resources as possible to avoid getting overwhelmed and spending time flipping through different books:

  1. The dungeon encounter table can be too random and non-sensical (i.e randomly you find some wolves in the dungeon). I plan to alleviate this by probably starting a theme for my dungeon and then draft a mini table for each theme.

Planned improvement: I have Perilous Wilds and I have yet to use it, and I think they have some good tables to determine the dungeon theme. Also the adventure tags from Scarlet Heroes might help. I think Scarlet Heroes had a table that adds some skills to a random encounter monster and that might help spice things up.

  1. Lack of a quest generator. I have the current setup of that 1 town on the edge of civilization and the premise of the local mages guild is paying me to map out some dungeons nearby. They take all the magic items and I take the gold. I think it is starting to get dull.

Planned improvement: In line with encounter table, this aspect might improve if I have an overall goal. I think Tome of adventure design had some sort of quests table but I might need something more portable. I think Scarlet Heroes adventure tags might help but will want to get some more insight from other sources.

  1. Lack of meaningful story threads. I currently only have the simple premise of going into the dungeon, my current party wanting to create an adventurer's guild and maybe establish a domain. I am a bit worried about shifting to mythic gme style list maintenance. I am worried that it will clash with my current aim to use the hexcrawl/dungeon crawl rules built into OSE. If someone had any success on improving this aspect while not taking much away from the hexcrawl/dungeoncrawl play, I would love to hear your advice on it.
