I was so happy to buy Catalyst again since it was on sale on Steam (yes, I know the consensus is game 1 is better). What I failed to realize as I have been compiling my shopping cart is that it wasn't part of the Autumn sale and ended a few hours ago.

Also, sharing the frustration of never seeing another ME game. I've been a fan since the first game and have had several copies on different platforms. Sadly, one of these IPs that sott of just comes and goes 😪.

After researching how to install fix mods for these games, I've come to the conclusion that it is significantly easier on Windows and probably not worth bothering to try on Linux (SteamOS specifically).

So long shot here - I have a main PC using Windows and Steam Machine. I am curious to know: if I install the game on my PC and install the mods, then proceed to use Steam's install from local source to basically copy the game from PC to Steam Machine (and honestly maybe even the Deck while I'm at it)- does it copy it over exactly as all the files are on PC or just select ones? I am assuming FF13 titles do not have a dedicated Linux build and rely on Proton.

My goal is preferably to install at least FF13 fix and *maybe* include upscaled cutscenes.

Also curious to know (since I admittedly have to look into this still also) if when I am installing from local it prevents from downloading from Steam, which could mess with the copied version?

Edit to add: I can test myself at some point, but not 100% sure how I would verify it worked as intended.

So, as many of us are- I am waiting for the steam machine price to be revealed. I have a 5090 in my computer and my wife's has a 5070Ti, but I like the idea of a neat little machine dedicated to being on our main TV without going through extra hoops.

Here is where I am semi-lost on how to proceed.

Someone I bought external HDD from is selling a 5070 for 425 and I have a few in-box m2 SSDs laying around.

So for craps and giggles I priced out a quick SFF machine and came up with most of the parts:

Fractal ridge case - 145

B850i lightning - 180

7800x3d - 350, but no cooler

32 gb ram from facebook listing - 250

Psu thermaltake sfx1000 - 250

This runs already 1200+ after tax, not to mention cpu cooler. Now, I know Steam Machine is estimated to be $1000+, but what I haven't mentioned is that I have that 425 for the 5070 already paid for (or that same money allocated to steam machine, whichever I decide). I also haven't yet looked into how the 5070 in question fits inside the case, but I'm not too worried about that right this second.

I know this build should obliterate steam machine performance, and I am not expecting machine to perform close to this, which I am fine with. Would probably also install bazzite to this sff.

Other thing to consider is I would plan on laying case down to put into media stand's largest spot by itself, same spot where steam machine would go.

Any thoughts on value or anyone in similar thought process? Other note is I saw a BC-250 build nearby-ish for $300 but it sold before I could think more (I would have built at least one of these last few years if I had heard about them because they are super neat, only discovered about a month ago).

My wife and I want to collect all the Scissor Seven trading cards, but since we don't know how to read, is there anywhere that someone has catalogued a list of all the cards and the sets?
