What cancellation policy do you use for overnight boarding

Hey all!

I’ve just started rolling out a new booking system and, sigh, that means finally implementing cancellation and deposit policies.

I need some advice from other sitters/boarders!

I’m based in Manhattan and do a high volume of boarding. I’m thinking of requiring a 50% deposit at the time of booking to secure the dates, but I’m struggling with the cancellation window.

For those who require deposits, how far in advance can a client cancel and still get their deposit back? And at what point do you require/charge the full booking amount if they cancel?

My contenders are 7, 14, or 30 days before the start of the booking. With house-sittings, I want to be more strict since I mostly board but with boarding I can't really decide between 14 days (2 weeks) or 30 days (is that nuts?) HELP!

I want to protect myself from holding dates for weeks/months and then being left with a cancellation I can’t refill, but I also don’t want the policy to be unnecessarily harsh.

Would love to hear what policies have actually worked and keep the clients happy.

Picture for attention ;)

does it get better?

long story short: slept out of my house for 4 days on a very uncomfortable pillow (big mistake) and it definitely caused my neck pain.

i'm on day 9 and the pain comes and goes, i'll wake up and feel OK one day but then slowly i feel the sensation coming on where my neck muscles can't "relax" and my neck feels all tight. it's a very very uncomfortable feeling in my neck. NO RELIEF!!! even when i lay down, it's a struggle to "relax".

i use a heating pad and advil and feel a bit better. sometimes i feel dizzy and light headed when my neck pain is at its peak. today was a particularly hard day, the only way to describe it is my neck muscles cannot relax! feels like a chore to hold up my head. it's really terrible. is this a bad neck strain / spasm issue? i'm on day 9. is this forever?! please help 😭 does anyone have a similar experience?

Neck pain worsening :(

I'm looking for some advice because I'm getting really anxious.

Last week I stayed at a pet-sitting job from Tuesday through Friday and slept on a bed with a really uncomfortable pillow. I actually remember waking up one morning with neck pain, but I kept sleeping on that pillow for the remaining nights because I didn't have another option BUT I AM NOT SURE THIS IS THE CAUSE??

I left on Friday, and by Saturday my neck pain became much more noticeable. It's now been about 3 days.

The pain is mostly left bottom of my head/ neck/ top of spine. The muscles feel tight and sore.

Takeaways:

-feels exhausting to hold my head up/ like a chore

-heat helps temporarily, but pain comes back

-advil has helped a little bit

-the pain is bothering me so much, I feel like my neck/head can't get relief even when im laying down

-negative meningitis (anxiety about neck pain)

-I am unable to get 100% relief even when sleeping or laying down!! I want to cry

It's been about 3 days with this neck pain and it doesn't feel like a typical slept on it wrong pain, its exhausting dealing with this pain in my neck and I cant get relief. any advice/tips welcome. cant go on like this and I have no idea why this is happening

graphics card help!

Hi everyone!

I am new to PC hardware, so apologies if this is a basic question.

I have an HP ProDesk 600 G4 Tower with:

  • Intel Core i5-8500
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD
  • Intel integrated graphics (no dedicated GPU)

I mainly only play The Sims 2 (very very low specs but runs well with good graphics card + cpu), and I'd like to improve its performance by adding a dedicated NVIDIA graphics card (I'm looking @ GTX 1650).

I've never installed a graphics card before, and I'm honestly pretty intimidated.

A few questions:

  1. Is a GTX 1650 a good choice for this computer?
  2. Will it work with the stock power supply, or will I need to upgrade that too?
  3. Is installing a graphics card easy or should it to tech/computer store?

I'd really appreciate any advice!! I am trying to decide whether to upgrade this PC or eventually buy/build a new gaming PC, but I'd love to see how much I can improve this one first.

Thanks!

this game is what you make it! endless possibilities

after my sim dropped out of university, he knew he was destined to fix up old cars and make robots to sell to the evil wealthy sims of SimCity. i found the most amazing desert lot gas station and converted into a home / business for him. he loves what he does and started a little family including his love for adopting stray dogs! here is just a few screenshots from this little desert gas station auto shop life they call home!
