First trip! 2005 jayco baja

We took our new-to-us pop-up out for its first trip and it was awesome. I've been a tent-camper my whole life and never used a tent trailer so prior to buying one I kind of thought of them as tents on wheels with nicer beds - so the propane fridge and battery-powered lights were an unexpected luxury to me! (The majority of our camping would be in rustic/unserviced sites). Our region has a ton of mosquitos so it was really nice to have somewhere to chill when they got bad in the evening but still feel like we were outdoors, with all the window covers down to just screen.

Recommendations for easy/intermediate jazz or swing solos? More details inside

Hi everyone. I have just gotten back into playing Clarinet this year, after a 15-year hiatus (played for 6 years back then until finishing high school). I joined a community orchestra and it really filled my cup, but the group takes a break over summer. I would like to continue playing so I don't lose my embouchure and endurance by the time we convene in the fall, but I know myself and to stay consistent I need to work on something that excites me, as well as the usual scales and tones.

I like early jazz and swing music, and would love to explore that genre more. For example my orchestra just played a mash-up of Henry Mancini themes like the Pink Panther and Baby Elephant Walk, and having the melody on that piece was so fun. Searching "jazz clarinet solos" yields results that seem too complicated for my current abilities (like the clarinet solo in Sing Sing Sing by Benny Goodman - I love that but it seems a bit out of reach still). Does anyone have any recommendations for easier jazzy solo pieces I could learn over the summer? I played "Fever" as my last solo in high school, as another example of one that I loved.

I have no idea how to describe my ability level... a few pieces we played in the community group were labeled "grade 4" difficulty and that felt like a good level for me.

Thanks in advance!

I know these don't fit, but why?! I measured and used the size chart

I had high hopes for these shorts I ordered online. I actually ordered two sizes to be sure, but they shipped separately. This is me in the 31, the 30 is on the way.

I used a soft measuring tape, measured where the fit guide recommended, and got a 32-inch waist and 42-inch hip measurement (double-checked just now, same thing) All reviews said they fit true to size. The measurements corresponded perfectly to a size 31, which is pictured. Why do they look so bad? The size 30 should arrive soon, but these look so weird that I am not confident sizing down one size will fix the problem :(. The reason I was attracted to these shorts is that I heard they were very roomy in the thighs. My thighs have a 29" circumference so I can never find shorts that don't feel skin tight, I wanted a baggy/relaxed look but this just looks bad? I included a pic of me in biker shorts so you get an idea of my body shape.

Pic 1- pulled up so the crotch is at the top of my inseam

Pic 2 - sitting at my natural waist.

Is it the rise? If so, how is one supposed to determine that before ordering? I am so frustrated :( I live in a tiny town so i have to order everything online.

EDIT: you are all very helpful, thank you. I've gotten some good suggestions of different shorts and good general knowledge about how to find a better fit 🙏

How should I patch these pants?

I have done a bit of sashiko-style patching before, but this rip is wedged between multiple seams and a pocket so I'm not sure if I could easily anchor the sashiko patch to surrounding strong fabric? Do I just go over the seams?

For making a standard patch I have a variety of denim (very stretchy to non-stretchl but I don't have any fabric that is an exact match for these, would that be an issue?

I have a sewing machine and also open to hand-sewing.

Thanks!

Update: progress on my creative corner

Edit: sorry if you saw this twice, I deleted the duplicate

OP here: https://www.reddit.com/r/femalelivingspace/s/LnkPy2KOd9

Thanks to your encouragement, I got my own art out of my portfolio and up on the walls. Also added some (fake) plants, a little light feature and got some of my supplies out on display instead of in bins over in the closet.

The paintings on clips by the ceiling are my nicer works that I don't have frames for, so they need to stay out of reach of the cat. The ones by the desk are older sketches and studies and just taped in place for now.

I live in a small town without many options to shop for rugs, curtains and bedding, so styling the futon will have to wait until I can make a trip to the city for Ikea etc (see OP for the futon which has to stay in the room but could be dressed-up more intentionally)

Work in progress and feedback welcome :)

Hey! You all were so helpful with my living room layout a while back so I am back with the spare bedroom.

Partner and I moved into a two bedroom suite with limited storage last year. The second bedroom became the catch-all for all the stuff we couldn't find a spot for, but i am finally getting around to styling it.

I am a watercolour painter and this room has the best lighting, and it's also the only room with space for me to set up my art desk. I'll elaborate below on why I need to stick with this layout you see here. But given this is where the desk fits, what would you do to the space to make it look cozy and intentional? Right now I just feel like I am painting in a storage room. The unit came with venetian blinds which I took down because I found them ugly but haven't replaced them with anything new yet. Landlord is open to me installing whatever I would want instead.

*the cat will chomp all sorts of real plants but I am open to fake plants.

I like mid-century modern, bohemian and scandinavian influences when it comes to decor.

Notes on the layout:

-Having he desk and the futon like this is the only configuration that works where I can see the natural light and still open the door.

-The futon needs to stay, we occasionally have friends visit and I got it after managing to pop every air mattress imaginable. Also, a full bed doesn't fit in this room. I also sleep on it occasionally when partner snores. However I am open to styling tips for it!!

-behind me is a small closet and the opposite wall (to my right) holds my cat's tree and a small ikea dresser that holds all our linens and towels.

Demanding loudly (and persistently) to go outside in the yard to snack on fresh grass and hiss at the neighbour's kitten, as she does every day. Share your tortie's tortitude stories if you wish!

This may be a long shot but I am looking for recommendations for a person to service my clarinet in Calgary*, Canada. Just got back into playing a few months ago so I am new to the scene so to speak. I have seen which persons/businesses come up on Google but I'm having trouble communicating with the one I've reached out to so looking for other personal recommendations...if there's a more regional subreddit that i'd be more likely to find local musicians please feel free to direct me there.

*I actually live 3h drive away from Calgary which also complicates this. It's just the nearest city big enough to have instrument repair people.
