Congrats, Andy! Our is the Smallest, Greenest, and Meanest World 🦅

I had a couple of episodes to catch up on and when I turned on Andy’s episode, I audibly gasped + my heart swelled with pride because “I know that guy!!”

I was a longtime regular player, eventual host + bartender where the best trivia game(s) in our small, North Texas college town were hosted.

Tell April, Jaclyn + Zach that Megan says hello!

Meet Itty Bitty!

Itty was born last week, prematurely, due to an ant attack shortly after pipping. We thought the babe was for sure a goner but she let out the largest cheep right as my husband “called it” and we are so glad she did 🥹 it took her 15 scary hours to absorb her yolk but now she is the feistiest little thing with 10/10 nonstop zoomies. 😊

📬 Mail Day!

After a decade in ATX, I am now living in a town of ~8,000 and boy has it opened my eyes.

I was born in Austin (pops is a Native Texan + Veteran) but didn’t grow up there—after college I got a job selling SaaS and the rest is history but, like a lot of folks, we just couldn’t afford it anymore and found ourselves here, in rural NW Texas, where we can (barely) and I see folks suffering en mass.

Nobody can find work [except at Walmart] and if they do they’re lucky to get part time hours. I was recently let go from a part time gig I was thriving at because the owner could not afford payroll.

TLDR: I genuinely feel like Hank when he has to work at Mega-Lo-Mart 🥲 but this campaign is giving me hope and my questions are:

How do I help with phone banks? Or setting up voter registration here in my small town/the greater young county area? I’ve got a lot of free time and I want to do some good. 😊

Our Little Trooper 💪🏻

unbeknownst to us, some of the eggs we have in our coop with a broodie mama started hatching overnight and this morning my husband found them—and I cannot stress this enough—covered entirely in ants.

he thought quickly, gathered them up and we were able to get the demon 🐜s off of them and put them in an incubator [we thankfully] had handy. 😮‍💨

Two of them were in especially rough shape, to include this one who hatched with an abnormally large unabsorbed yolk.

An emotional and especially long 15 hours later and this little duckling has almost entirely absorbed her yolk AND is going around kicking the others to wake them up. 🥲

I know we are not out of the woods, but we are hoping for the best knowing that intervention isn’t always a good thing but right now we are really grateful we did.

sassy pants

Kumar Flocker had pneumonia + was in our guest bath for a week. She’s made a full (loud!) recovery but here is some footage of the “horrors” that were round the clock care/fresh water/climate control and snacks 🤣

AI INVENTORY

I was a coffeehouse leader who quit for a lot of reasons, one of them being the fucking technology and how we got in trouble for it.

I was repeatedly gaslit by my DM for not writing up folks who “missed” their inventory counts. It never worked for me, never saved my work and based on that logic when my shifts (whom I trusted wholeheartedly) said they’d try and it hadn’t worked I believe them.

I quit in March—after being 30 mins late to my own goddamned admin shift because I overslept because I had stayed late Sunday to cover someone’s shift AND clean play—they stripped me of my bonus three days before the end of the quarter. I said “I work for money, lol. ✌🏻”

TLDR: having read sbux “quietly” retired their automatic counting I’m wondering if all the people who were terrorized, written up and/or let go could circle back and do something. I’d come home catatonic because I just didn’t understand how they could make me strip someone of their livelihood because the internet was down. They’re settling left and right and if feels very “life sentence for a dime bag” ie. while everyone (corporate) is out there doing whatever the fuck they want we (retail partners) are sitting here fucking punished for the same goddamn thing.

we live fairly remote + are hoping to see how urgent this could be. Anybody ever see/hear a little (~ 2 month old) make this sound? Gauging level of emergency because, again, anyone we see will be specialty if needed on demand. Tysm
