ETA next morning: it’s been determined that he was actually eating the bones of his enemies. Luckily he survived the night. There’s a comment somewhere under this post with me describing what I thought was bark falling off a stick and I’ve now realized may have been flesh or skin :( anyways, I’m putting a picture of him feeling GREAT this morning in the comments
