G45.5 Hunter Edition follow up

While back i detailed my experience with Glockstore and purchasing one of these Hunters. A bit more confirmation work done on the barrel with a quick turnaround has resulted in this now unthreaded barrel being dependable. I’ve also taken the stock trigger out for the time being, using a glock performance trigger instead and adding on one of Tam’s trigger shoes. Eventually i’ll get an optic back on but for now i can run this dependably on the irons.

The current price of $1,599 may seem high but consider that you’ll be one of a very few to own one. On that note, should i be shooting the shit out of it?

The answer is always yes.

007 range day

I enjoy seeking out 007 serials as well as fun worded prefixes. Being in the 4 letter range has opened up all sorts of possibilities. Should be seeing CHIP anytime now 😄

CALLUM NICHOLAS on Weekend Warm-up?!

Stoked to see this dude on here!!!! Red Bull Racing truly lost one of the best when he left. Hopefully he sticks around because he has some fantastic insight.

Edit: Calum. It’s one L. I’m sorry, Calum. In my excitement, two L’s were typed.

G34 Gen 5 Tactical Pontoon Viper Competition Trigger system w/Nuka Cola shoe!

Alright. Getting it out of the way— yes, costly. I don’t have too much of an issue with that when its a made to order product. If you have the time and patience, know where to source particular parts, you could likely make something equally amazing. Minus connector is the Glock®️ standard but sometimes its fun to test things out. I plan on using this as my competition larper/range shenanigans piece.

This is the initial result after install. I’ll be running plenty of rounds through it in the next week. I will most likely be making some small travel adjustments but right now everything is moving pretty well.

Vegas GP, F1 Arcade, F1 Unlocked promos make pre-race show unwatchable

Using the F1TV app still because the Apple app product is inferior. I hate this so much. It’s sudden, jarring and extremely awful production. It is clearly the soft launch for real commercials to inevitably come. Every season brings a change that drags pre-race farther and farther away from the heart of the sport. It is adding nothing of value.

And further, F1 Arcade in Boston is already looking tired and boring. The outdated sim software and format are a drag at the prices they have. So seeing this advertisement for it just further reminder that it now sucks.

AND THEN because that can’t be all, i get immediate playback errors when the injected ads end. Really fun stuff, F1TV.

Summer fun carry

Welcome to the sun. This is what i call my mini-1911 because the weight is absurdly high as hell but makes it the perfect one handed carry for hot months.

IWI Masada Slim Elite Commander with the magwell, backstrap, and mag +0 shoey all courtesy of Mischief Machine. I have the DPM spring system in it as well with the raunchy pea soup Osight that i intended to go on my Hunter G45 but the color was off by too much so this weirdo gets it. (Someone pls make a good hunter green housing). Holster is TXC and its damn amazing on the Hunter Constantine BEEELLLLLLTTTTT. Shorts are from Howitzer, shirt is Reyn Spooner and my credit card enjoys me paying all the interest.

Have a great Tuesday!

My Glockstore purchase process

edit: sight info at bottom

Noticed a few questions regarding using Glockstore for your business. Yesterday I shared my purchase of three Glocks, and this was one of them. For those of you who don't follow u/58Sniper, he scooped up all of the Hunter Edition 45's the hard way, and arguably, the right way by doing the import process (58Sniper's family photo). Made me realize I should have gone ahead and grabbed a G20 while I was there, but here we are. I was one of the souls to go forward with using Glockstore to get mine. You do what you gotta do.

What follows is the review of this process, for which I was requested to do so at the outset of this adventure by an employee.

When I first learned about these, I immediately tossed the notion of grabbing one aside due to the threaded barrel. Things suck here in Connecticut, where they think the barrel threads have some weird mystical power that can cast fireball, idk. Before I go further, yes, I could have asked them to send the barrel somewhere else, but the last time I did that with an out-of-state company, I got accused of circumventing laws, so I no longer do that. (now have further confirmation from some FFL's that they'll have no issue with this). When Glockstore said they got some, I figured, what the hell, I'll reach out and see what's what. Before this, I had only purchased some springs for some other pistols last year. I had seen comments over time regarding the struggles of customer service and prices, but I figured this was worth a bit of struggle.

I reached out initially via email and directly asked about shearing the barrel threads. I received an email back within 20 minutes from customer service. We set up a call to discuss it further. It was very important to me to retain the original barrel instead of it being substituted with a random one. I already had my FFL agreeing to limit the mags so I could retain those as well. He was able to speak with the gunsmith, who said they would like to do this barrel work for me. Connecticut has been trying to effectively ban Glock and clones because of the whole dumbass switch stuff, and what better way to support someone in need than by doing more? Absolutely, I would pay $150 for this work.

Finalizing the deal took about a week due to his being overburdened by his job. It took several emails and calls, waiting on hold and being disconnected multiple times, for us to get back together. Now, I understand that for some, this would be frustrating. I immediately caught on just by the background noise I would occasionally hear that their department is extremely small, and the volume of work is probably a bit too much for them. I don't run a business, and I don't know the specifics of Glockstore itself, but it does seem like a common-sense answer to bring on maybe one or two more people to help.

So we got it done. Initially, I was told the barrel may be able to get in the beginning of the following week(it was the weekend when we talked). So I went quiet and waited patiently. In the meantime, I was scrolling through the site day by day, begged my wife for the allowance to get the 49 Gen 6, and finally grabbed that. That order went through in days, and I had it within just over a week. Nice. While this was going on, I noticed the website would not load my invoice for my Hunter order. After two weeks, I started emailing and calling for peace of mind. In the meantime, their volume obviously increased. The phone lines stopped working and started telling you to just email, and they'll get back to you when they can. Alright, suspicion confirmed that they're simply overloaded.

An hour of pure panic ensues as my first email asking about the status of the order screen and hoping to find out it's just a glitch is met with "since this order was requested to be canceled, I will disregard the email". Oh boy. Emails and social media contacts went off like a repeat fire mission being requested on target. Turns out, thankfully, the initial email response person had typed in the wrong order number, and mine was okay.

Here is where I learned that Glockstore needs to not only get more people on customer service, but they also need to get a unified system so they can see what their peers have done with orders, because each person who responded to an email did not know what was going on. Again, I'm no business guy; I was in the Army for almost 12 years and the government for a small time after. Logistics are important, and communication is the foundation. They need some help from their leadership.

And then the dust settles. But... Now I have someone saying they'll get the barrel in, and it will cost $75. Which... wait a minute. I already paid for that. And it was $150. Did I fight this? No. Not really. I said it, directly, and the person I spoke with sort of just brushed it aside. But I was now at the point where I did not want to complicate things further. So I said, "Yes, please get it done." And to their credit, they did that day as promised. I did leave it out there for the rep to address the price issue and thought maybe they'd offer a credit, but he did not. He was more likely waiting for me to dispute it. I did not. I wanted this done.

In summary, without the extra stuff required by me, this process was likely quicker for those living in freer states. Glockstore followed through. There were hiccups, but I have this pretty amazing Glock in my hands now. Each customer service person I talked to was great. Friendly, excited about their work, and wanting to help. But this is if and when you're able to establish contact. One day I called 5 times and got auto-disconnected around the 20 minute mark each time.

Findings: Email the customer service. Do it during the weekend. Request call backs. That seems to be the best strategy. Otherwise, you're spinning your wheels. Will I do business with them again? Yeah. I also have far more patience at my age today than I did 20 years ago. That seems to help a bit. The employees were all fantastic. They just need better tools to do their job.

Edit: Yeah, these sights! I was doing a functions check and idk how i saw it but the color seemed "off" for a split second so i shined a quick light on them for a moment and behold--- factory glow!!!! Glock needs to standardize them as an option ASAP because they really are great.

Link to sights thanks to a comment here! The night sight

More gen 6 glocks arriving in CT

Tactical Boutique in West Hartford got some more in, call tomorrow or go, they open at 10 a.m. They also have some V options as well, including a 21 if you wanna kick it old school caliber.

As far as other options;
Lock N Load in Plantsville has been advertising all sorts of previous generations including the cutsie 43/X’s that are great for pocket and easy concealment. Wifey approved.

Tobacco Valley up in East Windsor also has several previous generations as well as Ruger RXM’s, including the full size option ***ANNIVERSAY SALE THIS WEEKEND, DEFINITELY WORTH THE JOURNEY!!!!*** (and then go join Hartford Gun Club while you’re in the area😁)

Glockageddon may be on hold for now but Gen 6’s are worth grabbing regardless, especially if you’ve always hesitated on grabbing a Glock. Personally, i believe this is not the end of anything but more the beginning of a very long process of state level lawfare. We’ll see.

May 15 EDIT: stopped at Newington Gun Exchange. Boatload of Gen V stuff including 20, 21, 19C, colorful 43X’s, 19X and a suppressor sight kitted 19X thats a fellow CHUB serial to the Swamp Yankee in Jewett City 19X. Also, FDE CZ P10C, CZ P10C Ported, quite a few CZ Shadow color combinations. For my lever crowd— THEY ALSO HAVE HENRY HUSH SPD’s in .357 and 45 Colt as well as a Marlin Dark Series in 44!

Celebrate the Glock Bill by going to Glock Armorer course!

Central CT Arms out of Portland is conducting a Gen 5+ Armorer course on November 17th of this year. What makes this different is that it is open to more than just LEO and current military. If you fit into the group of eligible people for this, go to https://glocktraining.com/RegWizard.aspx?classid=113176 and sign up. The fee is $300, but from what I have read and heard from many, it's worth the day. Plenty of slots open (30 at the time of writing this)!
