Tips on reducing motion sickness?

I bought this game a while ago and just tried playing it now. Omg I got the worst motion sickness in my entire life, ever. I've adjusted the visual setting to "motionless" but it didn't get better.

I really want to enjoy this game, will appreciate any tips!

I play on PC, my monitor is 27 inch

Translating an old post I found in my archives: [Topic] Are there any cultural references in Mo Dao Zu Shi that Western fans might miss?

  1. It's not exactly a classical allusion, but I suddenly remembered a small detail: the names Wen Yuan and Lan Yuan are both transcribed as "Yuan" in pinyin. I'm not sure if the English translator added a footnote explaining that although they are pronounced the same, these two "Yuan" characters are completely different.

Lan Zhan only knew Sizhui was called "A-Yuan," but he didn't know exactly which "Yuan" character it was. In the end, he chose the character Yuan - 愿, meaning wish/desire to name Sizhui. This character inherently carries the meaning of hope and wishes, symbolizing the good blessings Lan Zhan had for Sizhui.

At the same time, when people in ancient times chose a courtesy name (zi), it was usually connected to their birth name. "Yuan" (Wish) and "Sizhui" (To recollect and long for) combine very cleverly: after having a wish, one will think of a way to fulfill it and strive to pursue what they desire.

  1. The name "Wei Wuxian" (魏无羡) happens to have exactly thirty-three brush strokes in total. If you connect these details, it's quite fascinating: thirty-three whip strikes originally symbolized punishment and pain, yet they parallel the strokes making up his beloved's name, which is nothing short of a disguised confession of love.

Moreover, the surname "Wei" (魏) is also very interesting. In China, there is a fortune-telling method called "character-splitting divination." The fortune-teller will ask you to write a random character, then split it apart and interpret its meaning to deduce your fate. If you split the character "魏" (Wei), you get "委" (wei - to entrust/commit) and "鬼" (gui - ghost/spirit). This can be interpreted as "entrusting oneself to ghosts"—committing one's life to demons and spirits. This is an eerie coincidence with Wei Wuxian's fate, as he ultimately walked the path of demonic cultivation.

  1. The Five Great Sects in Mo Dao Zu Shi correspond to the Five Elements (Wuxing) in traditional Chinese culture: Metal, Wood, Water, Earth, and Fire.

• Lanling Jin Sect corresponds to Metal, symbolizing wealth and power.

• Gusu Lan Sect corresponds to Wood, symbolizing elegance and scholarship.

• Yunmeng Jiang Sect corresponds to Water, symbolizing nature, agility, and freedom.

• Qinghe Nie Sect corresponds to Earth, symbolizing stability and steadfastness.

• Qishan Wen Sect corresponds to Fire, symbolizing authority and destructive power.

These five clans cleverly form a balance of the Five Elements, reflecting the binding and opposing relationships between the factions in the story. Each element is both mutually generating and mutually overcoming, just like the bonds and conflicts between the characters themselves.

  1. As for the chapter titled "Han Guang" (汉广), it is truly a masterpiece; the name is incredibly exquisite.

"The waters of the Han River are vast and cannot be crossed" refers to the Han River being so wide that it's impossible to swim across, evoking a sense of distance and untouchability. Just like in their past life, Lan Zhan's feelings for Wei Ying could only be looked at but not touched, filled with helplessness and regret.

Furthermore, the Han River is a tributary of the Yangtze River that flows through Hubei province, where Yiling, Wei Wuxian's home, is located. The name "Han Guang" therefore not only carries the sorrow of separation but also conceals a foreshadowing of reunion and reincarnation, making readers feel even more choked with emotion.

And the most brilliant part is that "Han Guang" (汉广 - Vast Han) is homophonic with "Hanguang" (含光 - Bearing Light), which is Lan Wangji's cultivation title. Such overlapping layers of meaning—both a profound yearning and a hidden confession—make this chapter truly beautiful, heartbreaking, and impossible not to love.

Chinese audio drama - Mini spin-offs (Eng sub)

I'm experimenting with these spin-offs a little bit cuz they're short and thus faster to translate (I can update more frequently). Let me know if you like short extras like this, or just focusing on the main storyline more

Audio Drama - Special episode?

I’m doing the English translation of the Chinese audio drama and I just realize they have some mini speicial episodes that’s about 2-3min in length (compared to a 20-30min full length episode).

Should I translate them all at once after finishing Season 1, or translate them one by one as the story unfolds?

I made an English translation for the Chinese MDZS audio drama (UPDATE)

Disclaimer: This is a free, unofficial passion project by me and me only. I still recommend buying the official version on Maoer fm if you can.

I'm finally done with Episode 1 of the Chinese audio drama. ^^ You can watch it here on YouTube: https://youtu.be/i-zp2j0RSeI

I don't have enough storage capacity on Google Drive, so this is the only way I can share my work for free. I don't and will not make a profit from it. This is not an ad.

I work alone, so the best I think I can do is one episode per week. You can subscribe to the channel to stay tuned.

Really appreciate all the support >< Thank you guys so much

Has anyone made a complete deep dive about the dlc’s hidden details and references?

The amount of references and tributes in the DLC kinda amazed me ngl. I don’t play game that much and I can name at least 4-5 games they reference to in the DLC. Would love a deep dive video on this!

Thanks to all helpful suggestion, I finally conquered Skull Storm (and final trinket in one run)

I used the mantis deck but pack rats and a flying dire wolf carried most of the run. My mantis only at 2 attack (and somehow 18 health) at the end. The final boss was the easiest battle ngl

Tips on Skull Storm?

I love this game but sometimes it feels so hard and RNG heavy 😭 I have been attempting skull storm for couple days and never made it thru the first boss with the grizzlies wall. I have done some research on YouTube and tried implementing different strategies but sometimes the RNG just did me dirty. I really need some tips 😭😭

Something I have tried:

- Black goat deck with fair hand to play more expensive card. Sometimes I got lucky and got an unkillable goat early, but still not have enough strong card to survive grizzlies wall (especially when the first boss is the prospector)

- Mantis deck. It just doesn’t work for me. Mantis god is a glass canon and can’t survive the grizzlies.

- Bone deck with the dire wolf pub. My most solid strategy. Died cuz he was at the bottom of the deck and I couldn’t draw him early enough. Having enough camp fire events to buff his attack need so much luck too

My life changed after knowing fair hand mechanic

I just completed the game yesterday and finally allowed myself to do some research (I was avoiding it due to spoilers). The game became so much easier knowing fair hand mechanic. Before, I was clogging my deck with 1 and 2 blood stuff, afraid that I’m not gonna get enough sacrifice to play more expensive card.

I know it’s not new for all you guys here, but I’m just rlly happy with my finding. The first time I don’t struggling to survive and can one shot Leshy nearly every battle.

If you’re new to the game, fair hand mechanic is basically is: You’re guaranteed to draw a card that you can play with one squirrel in your first hand. It will be a no cost or one blood depending on your deck. If you keep your deck only has one card that satisfies fair hand requirements, you’re guaranteed to pull that card every single time you start a battle.

(PC) Is there any way to have multiple save files?

I accidentally cleared act 1 too fast, there’s a lot I haven’t discovered. And I like the vibe of Act 1 a lil bit more. Is there any way to have 2 separate save files: one for progressing the story from act 2 and one for casual play on act 1?

Tips to make the drawing process less messy?

I just bought my first set of artist grade oil pastels, which are soft and blend like a dream, but I HATE how messy they are. They smear all over my sketchbook, table, hands, and so on. I have a fixative spray, but it smells terrible, burns my throat, and STILL doesn't fully resolve the problem.

I desperately need tips. I use the Mungyo Gallery 48 set and Holbein crayon coat spray
