Is it worth it…

Okay so I’m really looking into getting an IUD, mainly Kyleena. I took birth control when I was around 13 for the purpose of stopping my period for a school trip and I literally broke out in hives. (I don’t remember which kind of pill it was)

I’m 20 now, and haven’t been on any sort of birth control since, but I’m scared my body doesn’t react well to any kinds of extra hormones.

I looked into copper IUD and heard many negative experiences and super heavy bleeding but I’ve also heard the same with Kyleena, it all just depends. Or that people bleed for 1-3 months straight.

I am also on Lamictal for mood stabilization and I heard many hormonal birth controls reduce the blood levels by up to half, rendering my medication much less effective.

Can anyone tell me some positive stories 🫩

I feel like I’m losing my mind

I think I’ve always had mild undiagnosed OCD. But somehow it’s gotten really bad and if I don’t do things a certain way I’m genuinely convinced something awful will happen. I know that’s very basic and typical of OCD but it’s driving me nuts. It’s getting in the way of doing chores and schoolwork. It’s wasting my time. I want to try and fight it and not do my compulsion but how can I get past the fact I’m convinced something bad will happen if I don’t do it?

What are some ways that have helped you cope?

Can smoking cause cold sores?

Specifically cigarettes? I’ve had cold sores in the past. This weekend I smoked a lot of cigs at my friends party, I didn’t share with anyone always had my own.

I maybe feel a coldsore coming on. Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe because of weakened immune system?

Edit:

I have been on and off smoking cigarettes for about a year, this was the most I’ve smoked in a while.

I have been seeing this guy for about 6 months but we have been friends for a year+. We are only fwb, but he ended up getting me a really thoughtful gift for my bday, it was a framed picture of my favorite song with the lyrics in it. He is an active guy, into running, rock climbing, swimming, etc. I have very little experience getting guys gifts and I am wondering what is something you have given a man that he enjoys, or to the men: what gifts have you received that you enjoyed?
