To those with chronic illness in the Bay Area -- any PCP recs (particularly UCSF)?

Hello! I am moving to the SF Bay Area with a nice smattering of chronic health issues, particularly the kind providers get confused on / gaslight about (endometriosis & UCTD/lupus). My insurance requires me to get a PCP within the UCSF system so I’m desperately wondering whether there are any primary care providers within the UCSF system that have been thorough/believed your symptoms/good with navigating complex or chronic health issues?

thanks so much!!

Super tiny studio -- help!

To preface, I'll be living in subsidized student housing in a very high COL area -- hence the tiny space. I am trying to fit maybe a full-sized bed, a good sized desk, and comfy place to sit (loveseat?) at the least? I am not sure on the best layout/orientation of the furniture for the space. If anyone has any thoughts on the best way to set-up this space, I would love any input!!

thoughts on pursuing surgery?

To preface — I don’t think(?) I have issues breathing. I got a sleep study that determined no sleep apnea, I don’t snore, and—while one nostril does collapse when I breathe in—I usually can breathe through my nose fine-ish during sleep and at rest (although often sniffing to clear it). However, I deal with chronic allergies and postnasal drip/congestion/runny nose and usually wake up with headaches. My nose also swells up with headaches and temperature changes (2nd picture) which is maybe related?

I saw an ENT for this recently who did a scope and said my nose was “super twisty” deviated with enlarged turbinates, and a corresponding MRI found the same (1st picture). I have seen some discussion on this sub that it is difficult to gauge whether you are truly breathing well until after surgery. Does surgery seem worth pursuing in my case? Just curious to hear opinions/others’ experience.

expired motegrity

I have a bunch of Motegrity samples my GI gave me before I moved last month. Now that I've settled in, I wanted to trial the medication -- and saw the expiration was 10-2025. I can't get in with a new GI here for 4 months. Any thoughts on whether it'd be fine to go ahead?

mixing glp-1s with preexisting slow transit

Hi all! I am interesting in starting GLP-1s (conversation with my doctor) due to persistent weight issues and evidence on their help in autoimmune/autoinflammatory conditions. However, I have severe slow transit colon (failed fiber, miralax, linzess, senna, trying motegrity next) to the point part of my colon is swollen visibly through my skin. I know GLP-1s have a major side effect of slow transit. Has anyone with these issues had experience laying a GLP-1 into the mix? Is it a horrible idea? I just have heard such good things with respect to my specific health condition.
