Are you truly experiencing the world authentically or are we just trusting our brains?

Humans have five fundamental senses. All these senses send signals to our brains to make us aware. I read in a book that everything we see, feel, hear, smell, and taste is what the senses interpret and send up to the brain. The book also talked about the hypothetical idea that maybe what we experience is what our brains want us to think; not what is truly out there. What we think we’re experiencing might be different from our surroundings. Sounds like a whole bunch of fluff, but think about it; the brain’s perception may not be completely equal to reality. I’m still trying to bridge this to the double-slit experiment because I see some connections. Feel free to contradict, agree, and add on. (The book I read was made by neuroscientists.)

Consciousness seems unimaginable to be ceased from existence until it does lol

Can you imagine being in a state of nothingness forever? Because some believe that is what happens once we die. I truly cannot believe that one day my body will be lifeless and my consciousness will just be gone. Hmmm but does it really go away? If the Law of Conservation of Energy is true, that energy cannot be created and destroyed, only transformed or transferred, then that must mean everything in the universe has existed ever since and will remain so as long as “eternity” may go on. Does that also mean we may leave a fabric of our existence from the energy we use? If our consciousness runs on energy, do we lose it once we die? Or maybe because consciousness is not a form of energy so that must mean it’s a separate concept; probably souls? So many questions yet only one possible explanation may answer them all. A great conundrum I often linger on to fall asleep. Lol I know I may not look like the kind of person to think about existential dilemmas, but I can’t help it.

AITAH? My friend seems to be competing with me.

I recently got an iPad Air 11-inch for my birthday. I told my friend a month later because I know how she’ll react. But my other friend told her while he was at my house as we had a phone call with her. The next thing she does is she texts me saying, “You have the 11-inch right? I really want the 13-inch I’m going to ask my father to buy me that on my birthday.” I felt emotions I never ever felt before. I then told her I just have the A16 to try and see if she would change what she wanted. She thought about it again and said she’ll see. One time during graduation I was given a chance to deliver a speech and I was nervous but happy, she kept on shifting the topic whenever my friends bring that up. I love our friendship but I don’t think I’d be the type of friend to try and blurt something about myself at one’s joyous achievement. What do you think? And how should I confront her about what I’m feeling?

Edit: BTW This post isn’t about a silly iPad. It was at this point I noticed the obvious.
