Commute on Train

Hey everyone,
Does anyone take the bus/train from LA area to campus? I’m deciding whether I want to drive or take the bus. I’m planing on studying abroad in January so idk if it will be worth it to buy a car. I’ve been checking my commute time from my place and it says 2ish hrs on the train/bus. Just want to know people’s experience, I feel like i’m going to regret it since it’s a long ride. If I do this, i’ll probably just go to campus twice a week so that it doesn’t get tiring. But any advice or suggestions help. Thanks

My order was canceled

Hey everyone, I had a quick question. So I bought an item on June 22 and messaged the seller on June 26 asking when they will send my package they replied the following day and said they were sorry and would ship it out monday. So today July 3 depop refunded me (still pending) my question is, I want to leave a bad review but are they still able to see my address/information if I do that. I just don’t want to get wrapped up in other issues. Any advice/info will help. Thanks

SOAR

Hey guys! I’m going to be a new transfer student and my soar date is next week. Just wondering what should I expect/bring? I saw something about them giving food (since we are there all day) Or overall, your experience and how it went for you all.
Also is parking free that day or I would need to pay? Thanks!

Study Abroad

Hey everyone, sorry this might be a dumb question which I might already know the answer to. But, when you study abroad are you able to find a job? (I believe the answer is no) So to those of you who studied abroad did you just save up a lot of money in order to “be comfortable” while you were away?

I want to study abroad next semester/year and was just thinking about how to afford everything else besides tuition.

Parking

Hey! I’m going to be a new student. How much is the parking pass for the semester? I’ve heard it’s a lot 😭 I also heard some people park off campus and walk or take the bus so where would be a safe place to park where I won’t get a ticket. Or is the parking pass is worth it. Also does it get packed or are there many lots we are able to park at? Any tips and tricks will help lol thanks

Jobs

Hey, those of you who are current students where do you guys work? On campus, Off campus. Do you guys know any places that are currently hiring i’m open to anything really. I don’t have much experience but I’m willing to learn. I’m a transfer student that’s why i’m not sure of what opportunities there are for on campus jobs or if they are limited to certain hours. Thanks :)

Dorms or Commuting

Hi everyone!
So i’m an incoming transfer student and I got accepted for Parkside North 2bd suite which is around 12k +5k meal plan. In the moment I applied I didn’t realize how much money I would be spending. So now i’m unsure of what to do. I can also commute WITHOUT traffic is like 30-45min and WITH traffic like 1hr - 1hr 15. Which idk if I want to do?? I can always wait until traffic goes down but idk what there is to do in lb that late in the afternoon besides like study or be at the gym😭 so im so conflicted. I want to dorm but my parents will not let me bring a car and I can’t imagine myself going to places without a car and i’ll hopefully find a job and I find it hard to take the bus (i’ve done it before at my college but it’s so stressful). I also want to study abroad so i’m like I’ll only have to commute for one semester and then be done.

If anyone has been in the same situation lmk. Or if you have done dorms lmk if the financial stuff is worth it. I know lb is a commuter school but I wanna make friends (ik i have to put myself out there for that if i commute, but i feel like it’s harder bc many ppl just go to class then go home) Any information/solutions help. Thanks!

Interview

Hi everyone, I know there are probably many questions about interviews on this sub. But, just wondering what questions they ask and stuff. What did you guys wear? Did you guys bring your resume?

Idk if i’ll get hired because i’ve never worked in fast food. I’ve only worked at my college front desk office. The only food work i’ve done is volunteering at nonprofit that made and delivered meals. (If it helps i’m from Los Angeles and applied to a location in LA area). I also have a super flexible schedule can come in any day and any time so idk if that will help my chances.

Thanks!

Waitlist for UCLA

I know what i’m about to say is negative. But it’s over for me. I doubt i’m getting off the UCLA waitlist. Ik not everyone has heard back but as a soc major many people already accepted and got off. Like can they reject me so I can move on and be okay with my other school. Guess I won’t be a Bruin 💔

Photo 1 Final

Hi, if anyone has taken prof mangus photo 1 class. Can you let me know what you did for the final? He told us it was gonna be like a “critique” or something based on our portrait and letter forms assignments. I just wanted to know if he shows the class our work or if he asks who is willing to show their work. Thanks!

UCLA Sociology

I’ve seen so many soc majors accept on the ig page. As a someone who is waitlisted it makes me sad lol because I might not have a chance anymore. Hopefully I do, but if not oh well UCLA will always be there for grad school or in general.

UCLA Waitlist

Ik we can’t predict how many ppl will get off / opted into waitlist bc reddit users don’t even make half of the applicants lol. But at least from those reading this, how many of you opted into the waitlist / didn’t. Also what majors?

June 1st is soon so i’m trying to hanging in there but i’ve also heard some ppl heard back in August which wouldn’t be ideal for me :,( Anyways… good luck to all of you!!
