This is a temporary tank they’re gonna grow out of. One on the right is a rescue from a horrible and utterly unsustainable setup from some total amateurs. He was actively dying of ammonia poisoning when I received him. He’s bounced back quite well and while they do some more growing in here I’m going to be setting up the big 120-gallon I got for them slowly but surely over the next few months (as I do not have much in the way of money lol) but hopefully quick enough that they won’t get too big for this tank for now.

The one on the left was a gift from my mother if the little black one didn’t make it. Really looking forward to spoiling these guys rotten. I also hope they’ll continue to tolerate each other into their adulthood lol. But I’m ready if not.

So about last week I made this post here talking about the Oscar and the arowana someone had listed. Unfortunately we couldn’t find anyone that was willing to take the arowana so unfortunately he’s left to his own devices there. When I received the Oscar he was in abysmal condition and I was worried he wasn’t going to make it. He was showing signs of severe swim bladder disorder, I changed 90% of the water in his tank and doused him with every treatment I got and he was showing signs of recovery.

By the end of this full week however, we’ve since picked up the 120 gallon (also pictured) for the oscar that over the next few months we are going to be setting up, getting planted, and getting cycled. The person who sold me the 120-gal also included the substrate that they cleaned already, and it’s an aragonite sand mix. What I wasn’t expecting was some of the snail shells that were in the substrate were still alive! So I got some snails too that I’m keeping in a separate box for now. I put the substrate in the oscar tank so it doesn’t look so plain and we got some other terracotta pots from storage as temporary hides. My mother had also gifted me a second oscar, of which I’m aware of the risks of having potentially two territorial adults I’d have to manage appropriately (the tank is going to be heavily planted+hardscaped, and rearranged regularly for one) but for now they’re little.

The kijiji Oscar has seemed to have made a complete recovery.

I know you’ve probably already moved on from this but I thought I’d share an update for the curious. Pictured is the tank, without a stand for now, and the big 120 I’m going to be working on cleaning.

Let’s hope nothing goes wrong lol. My red rili either had a miscarriage or hatched her eggs and I didn’t notice it or she’s hiding somewhere still and I can’t tell. This lovely lady caught my eye and I know she’s not the most high quality but I do love her orange tint and the spot on her side.

Spoiled my tank with a piece of driftwood that’s filled out the space in the back nicely. Red rotala’s still gotta grow more before I can move them to the back. Water wisteria might be relocated too. Worried it’s a bit too crowded but it looks sick so far. Hope the plants are gonna help balance my water chemistry too. Last picture is the Bowl of Freaks from when I was doing some tidying and didn’t want them to get trapped under my decor, right after scooping them from the Evil Red Bucket I put them and my plants in (as well as set up drip acclimation, for now). Some of these pictures are pre-driftwood. I keep forgetting the suction cups to put my airline tubing in to block my waterfall so my red root floaters are awkwardly crowded in the feeding ring for now.

Decided to get my big camera out and mess with my settings and try and get some pics of the boys. Only one yellow guy showed up but the chance was too good to pass up. There are currently 2 moults in the tank I’m leaving there in hopes they’d eat it. Amano and fire yellow.

Have no idea what to flair this as so I’m putting it here to be on the safe side.

I got this guy as one of the first denizens of what is becoming my first planted tank ever and my first tank in over a decade. Originally this was going to be nothing but shrimps but I gave in to obtaining some little guys also.

Got this guy from a local chain pet store (I know I know) that actually very impressively took care of their tanks very well (unsurprising considering the person overseeing them was an experienced aquarist), he seems to be absolutely thriving on the few plants I have (working on getting more and replacing my moneywort lol) and normal guppy grazing, no stick-out scales or symptoms of parasites. Fasted him and the other fish to make sure he wasn’t overeating especially considering how he loved stealing food from the other fish, Google is giving me conflicted responses and I’m struggling to find anything that I should additionally be worrying about with this guy. I know for a fact that this guy is not pregnant and likely male because of the lack of gravid spots/fin shape and vibrancy/etc.

Now is there something I could be missing? Is this guppy just a fat bastard? Apologies for the bad camera quality as these guys are quick little buggers, you can just make out how round he is. Caught in the act of grazing. Bonus nyoom because it was funny to me.

I have an entire folder on my phone dedicated entirely to pictures of her beside the bathtub while I’m in it. She will not let you wash yourself without her permission (pictured, she stands up on the edge of the tub and stares at you) or unless she’s grooming herself and thus too distracted. She likes being rendered soggy by wet bath hands (also pictured) and sometimes will rub her stupid body against your wet legs when you get out. She is a thief of towels and bathrobes alike.

Obtained the toucan today and made it smell like pineapples. pictured is my peacock from a couple years ago. There’s finally a location in my area for the first time since 2013.

in all seriousness though she’s a sweet baby and yes bothers you in the bath and she’s a wobbler (was hit by a car with her previous people after escaping the house, luckily and obviously survived but she’s a wobbly baby now) and she doesn’t meow and only really chirps. very tolerant. you can annoy the shit out of her and all she’d do is chirp at you if you go to pet her a few moments later. she likes lounging outside (supervised outdoor time) in the sun and attempting to steal your food. she’s a sweet baby so I offer her here. and I like taking terrible pictures of her. I have over 368 pictures of her the pit is bottomless and I will provide
