I’m 40. Not sure what else to say here. Too much blush? Too much makeup aging me?

Me again!! The Nola lady 😂

EDIT: these outfits have nothing to do with New Orleans or a date. I was just bored today and trying on clothes.

Hi! I’m still waiting on the A-line dress. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s coming from China so odds are it won’t even zip.

In the meantime, you guys really got me thinking about body shape and silhouette on my previous posts! It’s not something I’ve ever thought about.

Since then, I’ve tried some Levi ribcage wide legged jeans (oh my god I’m not used to that much fabric bustling around). I dug out an old linen jumpsuit from old navy that I bought 2 years ago. Also I put on some jeans that I wear a lot…I don’t think they are as flattering as I thought they were.

I bought the navy jumper in green!! I love it.

Anyway. Just some different outfits I put on after thinking about my rectangular ass body.

So here’s some pictures! Critiques or compliments!! Happy to hear it all. The white tee is wrinkled because it was still in the packaging. I need to wash and iron it.

Maybe someday I’ll update with my likely ill fitting a line dress 😜

And once again, I don’t know what to do with my hands.

👋 it’s me again! The clueless NOLA lady, round 2.

I’m still waiting on the A-line dress to be delivered. In the meantime, what do we think of this jumpsuit? It’s navy blue. I don’t think the lighting conveys that very well. Also forgive the pictures. I never know what to do with my hands. And it was 5am, I was fresh out of bed.

Does this dress work for a fun dinner date in NOLA? I’m 40.

Please excuse the pictures, I was struggling to find a decently lit area in the house to snap some quick pictures.

  1. I’m not sure about the deep V up front. I LOVE the back. It feels like the front accentuates my saggy boobs.

  2. I like the fit, it feels snug enough but not overly tight on the bottom. Enough to keep that apron belly somewhat in check.

  3. This isn’t a black tie dinner. More of a fun date at a steakhouse.

  4. What shoes?

  5. Necklace?

  6. Would some kind of shawl work with this? It’ll be in October and it does get a tad bit cooler at night.

  7. Please be gentle, I’m newly single and don’t know what the actual hell I am doing. But I’d love constructive criticism :)

▲ 830 r/walking

8 months of consistent walking + 13 months sobriety + (mostly) healthier eating.

I struggle to look back at old pictures, mostly because I remember how unhappy, depressed, uncomfortable I was in my body. I used alcohol as a coping mechanism and Covid amplified that. Walking has always been a go-to exercise for me. But I couldn’t make it stick. This is the longest I’ve been sober in my adult life (I am 40yo). I started walking in October of 2025 and am still at it. There have been missed days, sure. But most days I get out and do 2-4 miles in the mornings. I wear a weighted vest (12 pounds) and have been wearing weighted boxing training glove things. They are 2.5 pounds a piece. Recently ive started doing lunges up my driveway at the end of the walk. And then sometimes doing a 1 minute plank with the vest still on. Funny how walking started this cascade of incorporating other exercises into my morning walk routine. The mental health benefits are my biggest gain, though. I know the sobriety has immensely helped with my mental health, but my walks seem to keep me more even keel.

Daily drinking (38yo) —> 2 months sober (39 yo)—> 1 year sober and walking daily (40yo)

These side by side comparisons really blow my mind. The bloat. Dull eyes. Remembering how heavy and uncomfortable I felt in my skin. I’m still not to my goal weight, I’d say I have about 15 pounds to go. And it’s been slow. But when I feel frustrated with my progress, I like to look back at old pictures (thanks, drunk me for taking gross selfies, haha) and compare. I’ll just keep on being consistent and enjoy the progress I’ve made thus far.

I’ve only partially made it through the first bathroom. The pink subway tile bathroom! Hoping to do the countertop this summer. Painted over the wallpaper, and it’s held up well. Painted the cupboards black, new pulls. New light fixture over the mirror. Pulled up the carpet. Oh my god. That was a task. Oh and I still have some trim to put back. She had the carpet up the wall as trim. So I’ll get some trim pieces and paint them black.

I’m not sure on the rugs, just letting them sit in there for a few days before I decide. But this is where I’m at! Would love any feedback.
