Is an open sub a good platform for peaceful discussion?
I'm seeing people who are attached to their confrontational "us versus them" outlook.
Is this a good platform where anyone can come and derail a conversation with angry and triggering comments?

As a Lebanese, I experienced for the last decades, Hezbollah publicly cultivating a sacred image in Lebanon, with the government playing along and legitimizing "the resistance".
Now being a collaborator of Israel is about the worse insult you can tell a Hezbollahi, and the PM just did it publicly.
This was noteworthy to me which is why I posted it here.

Can anyone help me understand this list? Why do these countries have the most public support of Israel?
There will be a day when the people of the Levant can cross borders and can concentrate on healing and helping each other.
It won't even be a bromance, it will just be normal. War will be remembered in history, as an abnormality, like the 100 years war between France and England.
Moreover, reddit will be forgotten in the dungeons of the internet, where it belongs.
From the article on israel-alma.org Blog:
International External Aid to the Lebanese Army – Follow-up Report
Israel is known to use AI to process large amount of data (phone records, social media, movements), detect patterns and select targets for airstrikes.
Early targets were accurate. However as the war goes on they are left with lower quality targets and disrupted conditions which makes it harder to acquire new quality targets.
Some target which unfortunately will have similar patterns and often find themselves in proximity of legitimate targets:
Even hospitals, by repetitively hosting wounded targets, can become targets themselves.
People who routinely travel large distances and meet multiple persons across villages for various reason also have been targeted in the past.
The IDF should be confirming targets and authorising strikes "manually". High pressure, incompetence, lack of transparency in the AI process and bad intentions can compromise the process.
Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least 123 medics and injured over 200 healthcare workers since the conflict escalated in early March 2026, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Warning: distressing content.
Most shocking to me were two filmed instances of "double tap".
One incident on on 22 May 26 was filmed from multiple angles (including on a GoPro which was worn by medics). A strike injures a little girl and her father. A crew of paramedics assists them. An ambulance arrives and is immediately struck. The crew of the ambulance survives, but the strikes kill 3 paramedics on the road, a child, a man and a passerby.
Shocking video shows moment paramedics are hit by Israel in 'double-tap' strike
In another incident on 15 Apr 2026 in Mayfadoun, a team of paramedics tries to reach the site of an israeli strike, and it comes under attack. Another team who followed in an ambulance is attacked as well. Finally ambulances who arrived to assist the wounded from the previous attacks are struck as well.
The attacks resulted in two paramedics killed. There is GoPro footage and nothing on the footage suggests a legitimate target.
Israeli triple-tap strike kills three paramedics in Lebanon, officials say
These are just two of many shocking incidents which people would be seeing or hearing about.
Regardless of their political affliations, these persons were attacked while doing something honorable and courageous, we could use more people like them and it is a great loss, in my opinion.

I dream of this match happening.
In the meantime, this is what ChatGPT thinks of Israel vs Lebanon:
If the Israel men's national basketball team played the Lebanon men's national basketball team in 2026, Israel would probably be a slight favorite — but it would likely be competitive rather than a blowout.
A reasonable estimate would be:
Why Israel would likely be favored:
Why Lebanon could absolutely keep it close — or even win:
So if they played 10 times on neutral courts in 2026, a plausible outcome might be:
Typical score range:
It would likely resemble a tense FIBA-style game rather than an NBA-style talent mismatch.
The month long ceasefire expires on Friday. During this time Israel has resumed operations in South Lebanon which it has been partly occupying. The Beirut area has remained quiet except for a couple of targeted assassinations.
Is it realistic for this situation to continue?
