I made a mistake in starting Nursing School

(Please no rude comments) (This is a vent)

This is my second day in the program and I’ve cried both days. I’m pretty sure I won’t even make it until the end of the semester. 2025 was a rough year for me both mentally and physically, I developed really bad sleep anxiety and insomnia and it literally messed me up so bad that I ended up at the hospital.

Since then my sleep’s gotten better, but I’m still struggling with this fear that I won’t sleep and I’ll have a bad day and then I won’t be able to perform to the best of my ability. The fear makes it harder for me to sleep and I wake up multiple times during the night.

My heart’s literally pounding right now. I don’t know if it’s from exhaustion or anxiety, but my first day of school I only slept 3 hours the night before and last night I had about 6 broken up hours of sleep. By the time I’m home I don’t have a lick of energy to study and I can’t concentrate when I’m reading these really long chapters. It’s getting really hard for me to remember things.

To top it off I hate the way my scrubs fit, I feel like I’m always getting dirty looks from these two particular girls. I’m not even comfortable in them because the pants are too long at the bottom and the shirt is too tight.

Clinicals start in October and I just know I’m going to get eaten alive. I know you have to be on your toes so that you don’t make mistakes and I can’t imagine doing clinicals with the way I’m feeling right now.

I wanted to show myself that I was smart enough to do this and that my problems didn’t define who I am but I’m clearly very delusional. I knew deep in my heart that I wasn’t ready and I still accepted it. Ive wasted so much money from my Dads and I just want to cry again.

My first exam is in 12 days and there’s no way I’m passing this. I don’t know what to do I feel stuck and embarrassed and I’m gonna feel so pathetic if I decide to drop out.

Anybody else accepted to San Jacinto’s ADN Nursing program?

I just got accepted a few weeks ago and I’m super nervous about it already. Looking for people who have been accepted to the North campus. Would love to start to get to know each other and figure out the next steps

Need advice: Accepted into San Jacinto’s ADN program, rejected from UT Health’s BSN program.

So my goal was to go for my BSN. Unfortunately, I got rejected from UT Health and I also applied to UTMB’s BSN program for spring 2027, but have yet to heard back since it’s still super early. Part of why I'm struggling with this is that my long-term goal isn't to stop at an ADN or a BSN. I'd like to eventually pursue something beyond that (possibly NP, CRNA, or another advanced nursing role). I also come from a lower-income background, so finances matter a lot to me. I worry that if I go the ADN route first, I'll end up spending more money and using up financial aid that could have gone towards a BSN.

At the same time, I know turning down a guaranteed nursing school seat would have been risky.

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from nurses in Texas/Houston who know what the job market is actually like right now. I don’t know why i’m so nervous about this decision. I’ve heard that a lot of hospitals here in Houston prefer BSN over ADN.
