I have just updated my website visualthings.net and I realize with horror how slow it is. This is not my first website but I am a bit puzzled about how long it takes to simply load. The images are as optimized as possible, there aren't any .js that I don't need. Could it be the style.css that contains too many unneeded elements? (I have worked from a template and left some parts as I wasn't sure yet if I would need them or not). Can a single CSS be what slows the whole process?

I have tried to find a tool that can analyze a website and come back with a specific culprit but haven't found any. If anybody can point me in the right direction that would be really helpful.

Je vis dans un autre pays Européen et je suis revenu en France pour les vacances (région de Gap). Il y a trois jours je me suis pété une dent qui est encore en place, mais en deux morceaux qui tiennent à peine. J'ai téléphoné à l'hôpital qui n'a pas de service odontologie, j'ai appelé un par un tous les cabinets dentaires de la région pour m'entendre dire qu'ils sont fermés, oú ne prennent pas de nouveaux patients.
Même le site des dentistes de garde indique des cabinets qui, quand on les appelle, sont fermés (malgré être indiqués comme ouvert pour le service de garde). On vient de me suggérer d'aller à Marseille pour être "peut-être" traité.

Je me demandais pourquoi des amis ou des membres de la famille avaient des dents mal traitées, et pourquoi les français se plaignent du service de santé, mais là je comprends mieux.

(H, 57 ans) J'y pensais après avoir vu un docteur pour deux problèmes différents (douleurs dorsales à cause d'une mauvais position au travail, et douleur mystère à l'épaule).

En ce qui concerne l'épaule, le docteur avait du mal à trouver la cause (je ne me suis pas cogné, pas fait d'éffort violent, pas d'antécédents, etc.). Je n'arrive pas à décrire la zone exacte de la douleur (quand je fais une rotation du bras levé tout haut, paume vers l'extérieur). Il y a une douleur certes, mais je ne saurais pas la localiser et le docteur n'y parvenait pas non plus. Je ne sais pas si c'est un nerf, un muscle ou quoi d'autre.

I have an iPhone Xs that sill works perfectly (running OS 18.1, now updating to 18.7), and since a months or so I often have the following problem: People call me and I cannot hear them but I hear static on the line, that seem to echo what I say: If I say once "hello" (two syllabs over approx 1 sec.) I get two "shots" of static noise "crr crr" over one second. If I repeat "hello" three times I will get the same pattern in static noise. The people who call me either hear me well although I don't hear them, or sometimes they mention a muffled sound as if my phone was underwater. Other times the communication goes without problem. If I am not mistaken, this only happens when I answer and not when I make the call.

Has anybody a clue about what could be causing that?

J’ai été aux USA régulièrement il y a une quinzaine d’années (c’était déja assez tendu, parfois) mais j’aimerais savoir comment ça se passe vraiment avec le contrôle des réseaux sociaux. Ma femme doit y aller en hiver pour le taf et on pensait y aller ensemble. Sans être un activiste, j’ai probablement partagé quelques memes ou fait quelques commentaires déplacés envers le meilleur président de la meilleure nation que le monde ait jamais connu. Je n’ai ni envie que ma femme se fasse refuser à l’arrivée, et moi non plus. Si certains ont fait l’expérience (et en particulier s’ils ont parfois exprimé des opinions critiques sur les réseaux), c’est comment?

Je vis à l’étranger et comme tous les ans je reviens en France en été. J’ai un chien (un schnauzer moyen) d’age adulte mais pas encore senior et je galère chaque année pour trouver de la nourriture (patée) de bonne qualité, c’est à dire sans trop d’ingrédients de “remplissage“ (fibres) et avec une haute teneur en protéines. Á part les classiques Frolic, Filou (il me semble qu’il existe une marque appelée comme ça), ou Pedigree, qu’est ce que vous avez à suggérer?

I am not a genius coder but it is not the first time I embed a video into a website but this time I am really puzzled with this issue: If I use the piece of embed code given by Youtube (with my own video) I just get an error message and if I use the embed code given by Dailymotion it just work fine. I double-checked the original template (see page here) and it works. My code is absolutely identical but I get the message "Firefox can’t find the file at /embed/RBvoqkGc27U. It either doesn’t exist or the path is incorrect."

Any clue about what is happening here?

I didn't know that this footage existed

The title says it all: I have a work that includes collage, inks and oil pastels. I had successfully isolated my layers with coats of acrylic medium and also Schmincke Universal Varnish (adequate for the medium I use). The thing is that I added a few more details with oil pastels when a coat wasn't fully dry, and then varnished again on top (yep, working too. fast): Now the artwork is sticky on every surface that has oil pastels.

Should I rather:
a) Use a hair dryer (with hot or cold air?) to accelerate the curing of the varnish
b) go over the artwork with a clothes iron (with a sheet of baking paper in between) to fuse the oil pastels and the varnish

I have an upcoming exhibition and I am quite on a tight budget so I would try to avoid buying more frames. I have plenty of stretched canvases that I don't need which I could mount my mixed-media acrylic collages onto. Now, is there a good method to do that temporarily? I could use axrylic medium to glue the paper on the canvas but maybe some people prefer to have the work on paper only. I had used Fixogum in the past but in the long run it leaves marks (it is not acid free). The pieces are 42x56cm on a pretty thick paper and I would mount them on 50x70cm canvases. Any tips?
