The most "hated" WoT book was actually good

Going in, I was bracing myself. I'd seen countless posts warning that literally nothing happens.

But to be honest, I had a great time.

RJ is such an amazing writer, and while certainly not much happened, I was never bored. It slows down, and with that, you get to appreciate the sheer scale of this world and story.

My favorite moment was when all the Wise Ones, Aes Sedai, and Asha'man looked towards where Rand and Nynaeve were cleansing saidin thousands of miles away and were in awe. Like you can feel the gravitas of what's going on.

The Mat chapters at the beginning, I genuinely found compelling (but that's for most Mat chapters) and the Tuon and Mat dynamic is something I love RJ explored a little more.

Ah yes, the infamous finding Faile. Not so bad? I went in fully prepared to skim and then I just... didn't enjoy skimming it. So I slowed down, gave it a fair shot, and it was pretty good.

Could this book have been condensed into a couple of chapters tacked onto the end of Winter's Heart? Maybe. And do I understand why it's the weakest in the series? 100%.

But was it still an enjoyable experience? YES!

P.S. happy 4th of july!

Cyberpunk 2077 for $17.99 or Witcher 3 Complete Edition for $9.99?

Crazy sale going on, and I'm genuinely confused about which one to purchase. I love sci-fi stuff (just finished Titanfall 2) and am a frequent enjoyer of sci-fi movies and what not.

But I also love medieval fantasy. I'm more than halfway through Wheel of Time (one of the largest fantasy series).

I've played both games before as well on friends' computers and enjoyed them both thoroughly (one of my friends even had the first person mod on Witcher 3 which was really cool).

I'm looking for something dark. I lean towards fast paced but I'm fine with a slow burn. My main deciding factor in games is generally how interesting missions are and how alive a world is. Example: Titanfall 2's Effect and Cause mission where you jump between time, was amazing and how NPCs would just talk in game and comment on events.

They are both so cheap that honestly, price isn't the main factor.

[TOMT] Movie/Show where there are these odd creatures that attack these soldiers in a forest and spare one man because he is handsome.

It's a pretty recent show if I remember correctly, definitely 2010+. It's not From as Google AI keeps trying to tell me. These aren't human looking creatures; there's definitely something wrong with them. The setting is also not modern if I remember correctly, like 1800s? It's in english (unless it was dubbed which is unlikely)

The scene I remember was that a creature was attacking these soldiers in a forest and she? literally said he was handsome so he could go.

Also, I remember that people were complaining about the second season and how they can just "pretend it doesn't exist."

Hi everyone,

I was fortunate enough to get admitted to UCSB (instate) for CS and UMD for CS with a 20k/yr scholarship brining the cost to slightly over UCSB. (cost will not be the driver)

I'm wondering which program is better and which will setup me up the most for the future (internships, campus, etc). My goal is to get into FAANG.

I guess a good ranking would be

Job/intern prospects > location> culture

Anything about UMD CS or UMD in general would be very helpful!

hi everyone!

i was fortnuate enough to be admitted to UCSB cs and i was wondering how the program was over here. I talked to a few DS kids who said its kind of meh so any feedback would be awesome.

my main goal is getting a job out of school (but i would like to keep doors open for grad school and such)

instate for UCSB and Slo. 20k/yr scholarship for UMD (which makes it slightly more expensive that UCSB) but cost is not the main factor

please any advice would be appreciated. I'm honestly very lost right now
