Understanding the overall benefits of QCDs

I'm preparing for RMDs. I normally make a series of charitable contributions, which are at least partially funded by Regular IRA withdrawals.

From what I understand, QCDs can be beneficial in the following manner:

  1. They're counted towards the RMD for the year.

  2. They're not counted towards income used in calculating the amount of SS benefits subject to Federal Income Tax.

  3. They're not counted towards MAGI which in turn can help keep you from the IRMAA cliff as well as possibly qualifying for other deductions and exemptions.

Are these understandings correct?

Level 1 Charging set to MAX draws 12 amps

I have a 2026 NX450h+. I'm charging from a NEMA 5-15 110 V outlet at my house (SE Michigan). With the vehicle charging (current SOC is about 50%) system customization set to "MAX", the charger is drawing just under 12 amps as measured with a Milwaukee TRMS clamp meter at the circuit breaker box.

I'm assuming the MAX selection sets the charging current limit to 80% * 15 amps.

However, I couldn't find any documentation that states this is the case. Has anyone found confirmation of this in documentation?

TIA.

Inpatient stays beyond 60 days

I have a question about costs for Part A inpatient stays beyond 60 days.

I understand that Days 1 - 60 are $0 after the Part A deductible of $1736. I also understand that this is applied for each inpatient benefit period and there can be multiple benefit periods within a calendar year.

What I don't understand are the inpatient costs for Days 61-90 ($434/day). Is this also applied on a benefit period basis? Or is this a yearly limit?

Android Auto deleting text messages?

I have a 2026 NX450h+ with a GalaxyS24+ mobile phone connected via Android Auto.

I played a received text today, for the first time, and aftewards noticed it's no longer on my mobile device. Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to modify it so the text isn't deleted? I did some looking around and it appears this is an issue for other vehicles and mobile devices.

TIA!

Replacing ducts running under a slab

I have a house that has a step down living room and laundry room built on a slab. The remainder of the house is on a basement.

The heating duct work for the living room and laundry room runs under the slab in the sand below it. I'm replacing the duct work (it's collapsing) with duct work running up and down he walls. I've had several contractors look at it and have quotes for replacing it.

The question I have is: What do I do with the old duct work? Do I attempt to fill it with sand? With concrete? Nothing (probably not)?

The contractor has proposed a couple of options and I've asked them to run this by the township in the permitting process.

I'm wondering what is "normally" done in this case?

TIA.

I just took delivery of a 2026 NX450h+ Premium.

The traction battery capacity is stated as 18.1 kWh.

I'm charging the battery at home on a 110V outlet. What I'm seeing is that at 100% charging the battery is showing about 13.6 kWh.

You can see this in the highlighted portion of the Lexus app screenshot below.

Am I missing something here? The charge went from 1% to 100% so I'd expect the total charge session to represent the capacity of the battery.

Your insights are appreciated.
